This weekend I finished up the landing gear issues. Put in stronger solenoid valve coils to replace the lower watt pieces. The new one have three times the power over the old ones. Put everything back together, and should be ready for fuel and some more testing to see if everything is working normal.

I got a question could you use divers tanks for are if you want to go above 10000 ft like say you want to go to 20000 couldn't you use a diverse tank for oxygen

The only people complaining just haven’t ever had to build or finish anything. These are the details that take the longest and can make or literally break a build. You know that. Keep going. Takeoffs are optional.

Always impressed with your homemade tools and troubleshooting processes. You make the adjustments look easy (of course we only see 18 minutes for 6 hours work). With each one you are that much closer. Nice work!

@Dynodon64 coming from a family of pilots and even aviation history as far back as my family leading the way as original bush pilots in the early 20"s founding Alaska airlines disregard any negativity because in the end it's your life that's at stake and I believe your build is in the experimental class? I could be wrong but you know your work and my father was a aircraft restoration and builder of vintage and modern aircraft and ppl just don't realize it isn't about views it's about your life if you have to quadruple check things out so do it who gives a crap what ppl think your doing a thorough meticulous job just like my father would have done he never got in a hurry and he did it to the best of his ability Everytime and if he wasn't 110% sure he found someone that was in that field that was and When the day finally comes and you make your maiden first flight it will be a day we all will enjoy because of all the hard work and dedication and determination you have put into this amazing project take your time and keep up the amazing job oh I was going to add my father built a half scale I believe P-51 similar to your F4-U Corsair your friend, James McLean

Absolutely incredible project. You have more talent than 99.9999% of the world's population. On top of that, you do such a great job of explaining everything so that even a dummy like me can understand the processes. Landing gear....."DONE!" Ratiator leaks worry me, Don. You done well. It's better than I would have done. Hey Don, Did you hear what W.A.R. REPLICAS are up to lately? I was chatting with one of the workers with W.A.R. on KZhead. He said W.A.R. is working on a new carbon fiber Fokker FW190 prototype. After the prototype FW190 is completed with testing, He said W.A.R. will start selling plans & kits out of carbon fiber parts. That makes your W.A.R. CORSAIR construction obsolete. They want to get away from the flaws with materials used with the old construction methods to build their 60% scale airplanes.
Chris Simms is the guy making molds for his WAR Folke Wolf 190. He has a channel. He's not working with WAR directly.

G'day, Great stuff Don.! I peaked at Cotton-covered Bungee-Cords in tension - wrapped & secured against the Airframe, around a floating Axle, inboard of each Wheel. At 17, when in 1978 Neil Cottee's Fokker Triplane broke a Bungee Cord - by taxying into a Runway Marker Cone ; I was the Boy helping 2 LAMEs to replace the Bungee by Lamplight at night (no Electricity in the dirt-floored Hangar...) ; hurrying to finish before Dawn, so the Triplane could be Flight-Tested, before the next day's long-scheduled Display (in front of 5,000 paying Spectators)... At the time, I let all my WW-1 Groundcrew Fantasies run riot. And in the fullness of the time, my Aeroplane featured a Bungee-sprung floating Cross-Axle of my own contrivance ; heavily inspired by what Reinhold Platz did, when Welding up the Fokker Triplanes in 1917 (!). 1920s Undercarriages are a lot simpler than 1940s versions, clearly ! Such is life, Keep on keepin' on... Stay safe. (537 Km, duly logged on the electric Sting, now, & still upright so far !). ;-p Ciao !

Rubber seals for the bearings? Not felt? Interesting. I wonder if I'm visualizing it wrong. 🤔
The seals are made just for the Timpken bearings. They have a metal washer and the seal is molded on them. Their meant to be tight against the inner race to keep them from spinning with the wheel.
Regarding the 2 screws the gear is hitting (on the top wing circular cover), I would cut the screw and file the threads smooth. No sense in buying new screws, if you don't need to. We've had an extradordinary amount of rain this week in Missouri as well.

Good evening Dino, Don, I love lasers! Your to do list have got to be getting shorter and shorter. As far as the gear door on the left side don’t bet on air pressure pushing them up it can just as easily catch the air and hold them down. It’s funny fix one thing and another thing (screws)up! Like the two access screws. Yeah, I agree. It’s time to take that bird for a ride down the runway. I hope next week you get good weather and wind right down the runway. Good luck, buddy. I think any moving around of the plane may cause them to pull closed. Just a touch and the doors spring closed. They are under a spring like pulling effect to close.
Man, retracts seem like such a finicky pain.
That's why I have never seen any WAR Corsair with functional gear doors on them.
I'm very concerned that the gaps on the front of your mains doors will catch a LOT or air and will open in flight.....and I am a huge fan!! Can't wait to see her fly
Testing will tell me more. Maybe a camera mounted down low to watch them in flight.
Yes the left side not fully closing is especially worrisome to me. My theory is if the right side is working properly, you should be able to get the left side proper too. You have taken care of numerous small issues on this plane already and have come too far to let this persist. Would hate to see a small problem become a large one in the air. Just my 2 cents and good luck with further testing.
@@Chadman03elantra It seems to be more of a slight bind than an interference problem. Both sides are the same, but may not be exactly the same.
Collimator. You use 2" eyepieces? That's good for a newtonian reflector....what'd you build? A big dob?

Won't the airflow over the retract doors pull them down if they aren't tucked up tight?
It shouldn't, because there is a high pressure under the wing, and a low pressure on top of the wing. That's how lift works.
