Thank you for your reply. Of course, it goes without saying that my country is one of the most important oil and petrochemical centers in the world, but unfortunately we are somewhat involved in political issues. What country are you from?
"This video is a game-changer! Learning how to repair damaged car mirrors not only saves money but also contributes to reducing environmental waste. Kudos to the presenter for sharing such valuable knowledge."
I buy Permatex Plastic Welder, comes in black, hardens like a rock in 10 min, can be sanded, drilled and filed.
I learned 2 new things in the first minute: 1) that aluminium tape exists; 2) that the space at the top of the pliers blades can cut screws!!!
😊😊😊😊
Me too with pliers and I have only been using pliers for Forty Years plus😂
Lol
Indeed, you can cut screws with the pliers blades, but only once, if you see what I mean...😊
Not sure I believe that a repair shop was involved here, but... I've been doing something similar to the second part (heating a wire) fixing parts in my shop, but there is a cheap tool you can get (along with pre-bent metal "staples") that does the same thing. Then I cut plastic off a spar part and use a soldering gun with a flat tip to melt the plastic together. That trick DOES work GREAT! I've never tried baking soda and super glue, but the end results looks like what I used to get decades ago with a product called "Plas-T-Pair" - basically a plastic-like two part epoxy. I'll have to try that. The acetone and ABS trick.... not bad. I've done similar for repairs, but never thought to inject it through a syringe. I expected to come here mocking what I thought would be another BS "hack" video. I was pleasantly surprised :)
This looks so labor intensive that buying a new plastic part would probably be half the cost...
@@Munakas-wq3gpNot necessarily. Sometimes parts are not available. When they are, sometimes, the price is ridiculous. With the heat gun tool, though, it's no where near as labor intensive.
@@rebeltaz123Repair shops here charge 150 bucks an hour. A piece of plastic is not worth it...
@@Munakas-wq3gp I don't think dealers (the ones charging $150 an hour) are going to be doing this. This is a technique that backyard mechanics and us small repair shops can and do use. Not every problem is solved by throwing money at it. Sometimes, we have more time than we have money.
Why not start with the putty first?
A body shop is not stupid enough to charge $200 for labour to replace a $20 part.
How about $500 labor to replace fork seals
Yes, that's an hour of time to replace the mirror cover. They usually flat rate the first hour. However, I think this would only work if you were doing the work because they would charge you additional time that they have to do the sanding and stuff on a project like this.
@noname you fail to realize this is other country ways. Try learning how other markets function.
Isn’t the point that he’s showing the technique to use across many issues with broken plastic and not just a cheap mirror part? This is a example of many options you could use this technique.
@@wasntme3651 I agree as information it's definitely a benefit
I guess the body shop guy only charges $1 an hour for their time. All will just replace the mirror due to their hourly charge.
Yes that's the problem with "western" countries, where the high labour costs forces us to throw, rather than repair, because repairs cost more! (And then these same "western" countries then jump up & down about "climate change" and pollution!).
@achristian7015 Also, "the body shop" needs profitable customers (a viable stream of work) as a starting point. You can't get those at Dollar General.
a chinese knockoff mirror is affordable , now try replacing mirrors four or five hundred plus , like have many times in my 50 years as an autobody man , yeah i have repaired many myself and still make good money
Excelente trabajo..... gracias
Such a cool trick.
Body shop guy just went on ebay and bought one taken off a scrapper for $2 and didn't spend hours of his life doing this.
👍👍👍 .Thank you
Don't use regular body filler on Ridgid plastic...It will eventually delaminate ..
no it won't it's not that flexible unless you use 2 or 3 inches thick the American way lmao
@@tonycavez You have obviously never used it. 😂
@@99sentcoins i use 3m plastic repair urethane , 49 years in the auto repair business there is almost nothing i haven't done , crackhead
I did this to my 2009 Chevy express just use the aluminum tape and Bondo sand paint and satin finish spray paint good as new held up for years as far as I know it’s still holding up
@@99sentcoins 49 years doing autobody I've used just about everything there is , dummy
really cool. keep up the good work
Glad you liked ! Thx for watching !
this will work for a home repair on your own car, but usually those covers are pretty cheap and not worth fixing. Besides that most body shops seem to only ever want to replace parts anyway.
Lol. They are not cheap.
That cover is probably less than $20. All of the crap he used costs more than that.
Buy a New cap for 20$ and switch it, takes 2min. Repairing takes more time and more tools.
Best use of a credit card card I’ve seen.
I've been using old credit cards and Hotel access cards for a very long time.

Fabulous video, thank you!
Thanks for watching 👍
Merci pour l'astuce
he taught this to the car body shop near him, and for some reason he also knows what their annual profits are .... very convincing
Ottime soluzioni, sei veramente molto bravo.Umberto da Lecce.
Grazie 👍
Saved me money, subscribed to save more, thank you 😀
Glad it helped and thanks for watching !
Wow! Thanks for the education.✌️
My pleasure!
There is a flat spot on the mirror repair ,where the hole was, because of hand sanding and not using a block 😊
😊😊
A block would have made it more out of round. Using hand sanding on round surfaces is always better than a block.
Only if you don't follow the shape with the block. The hand will push the sandpaper into any hollows and make them bigger.. @@imacrazy6872
It's always about technique. Clearly the person in the video didn't use the right technique, so there is a flat spot as can be seen in the video. Anyone working on cars trying to get a mirror finish will tell you the block method is better if used correctly @@imacrazy6872
not only that , he only sanded one way, the part is curved he should have sanded front the top to bottom following the curve also the polyester filler was too dry and he couldn't spread it right , left pin holes in the repair i could see the repair , he should have primed it then smooth it again before painting , i do these repairs all the time , been an autobody tech for 50 years
caspita, bravissimo
Congratulations.. regards from Athens Greece..😊
Thanks for watching from Greece !!
Bravo!!!
Nice job!
Watched this and subbed. and gave it a like.
[The more difficult is to find abs ] Good ideas. Thanks
Then the matching paint color
I hope that in the future my friend's business will be more and more successful
That was good. I'm going to try these techniques
Great! Hope you get good results !
Very useful. Thankyou.
Thanks for comment and for watching !
Excelente trabajo !!!
Gracias por ver 👍 Saludos
Damn, I've just paid a whole £16 for a brand new replacement too
Fantastic,👍💪
Thx for watching !!
Great!!
BRILLIANT.
I made thumbstuds for the blades on my Leatherman Surge with aluminium tape, a plastic melting gun and a drop of instant adhesive. There is a wire loop heating gun too, i repaired 2 drawers of my fridge. I also repaired a high quality headlamp that i cut on purpose to equip it on my cycling helmet (the band wasnt removeable) Your tricks will be used very rare but they are insanely usefull! I would apply a high quality reflective patch on that spot but im not sure its legal. Greetings from Romania!
Thanks for watching and commenting your experience very helpfull !!
Awesome! Good stuff!
👍
❤❤
Obrigado 👍
Sick thanks for this. Def gonna try the aceton with ABS plastic mix. Some **** from the repairshop thought it was a good idea to use screws to keep my bumper on my car and covered it up with some bondo. Ofcourse it cracks right thru the paint now because of movement. Gonna fill up these small holes like this and find a better way to assemble the bumper lol.
Thanks for watching !
BRAVISSIMO
¡Muy buen trabajo!
Gracias ! Saludos !
Purty good homie😮😂❤
Very Cool! Love your presentation. Informative & relaxing. I hope I remember this hack when I need it!
Glad you liked ! Thx for watching !
Great hints. Baki ng soda and superglue is pretty strong.
Thanks for watching !
Ye we used it to fix chips on carbon fiber rotors, it has a really strong bond. I even keep a kit in my truck and it comes in very handy for many projects , I just mark the container with the baking soda" not cocaine" , lol.
👍
Well done, about the scraps A b s Explain more.
Thanks ! ABS is a type of plastic can melt in Acetone. Regards !
Fixed my hard plastic hairbrush which broke in half when it fell into the sink. Used baking soda and superglue. The repair is super hard. I have read you shouldn't use such repaired items where they can get wet, however.
Why?
Great Thing to do at Home!
Thanks for watching !
Very creative. Did you learn about chemistry, or is it "see what others have done" and then test it?
Thanks ! experience applied to my needs.
Stainless steel bands clamps work the best. Simply open them up and flatten them out- the micro cut grooves work like a suture in the heated plastic.
Saludos !
I can't picture a body shop taking all that time and effort to repair a simple rear view mirror. Why not just order a new part and slap it on and let the auto insurance company pay for it.
Amazing!
Thanks for watching !

Very very nice and very good
Thanks a lot !!
Using the visa credit card for the putty. nicely done!
No better use for that Visa !! Thx for watching !
Lovely music
Thanks for watching !
Pretty slick.
Thx for watching !
How much did thst syringe cost, was it glass as the acetone will melt plastic ones?
Buen video, buena información 👌
Gracias! 😊
for home bodies that dont want to get a new piece or take it to the body shop but since it is a mirror i would just get a kit for this type of repair and if it did not turn out \perfect who cares, also putting tape on the back and then using epoxy to fill the hole and then sand and paint would be easier
Thanks for comment and for watching !
Yeah, epoxy putty is a better choice
Isso prova que tudo é possível...
very nice
Glad you liked !! thx for watching !

What kind if wire did you use that's so flexible??
i believe it was solder
A nebolo by efektivnejsie vybrat zvnutra zrkadla odlomeny kusok a nalepit ho na povodne miesto ???

0:43 mark; Kung Fu Grip…Engage!💪🏻 You know all of those videos that portray some dude repairing numerous things with nothing more than Ramen Noodles and Super Glue? Well this here’s the Zip-tie equivalent.🤨🤦🏻♂️🙄🤣🤷🏻♂️
Perfect 🎉
👍
at our bodyshop we do the same thing for bumpers but have a dedicated machine for it which heats staples, that mirror cover probably costs a fiver!
Thanks for comment and for watching !
Not sure that's the point of the video.
Aceton rozpuszca plastik?
Been in the body shop in 50 years that's a joke you can buy the cover separate from the mirror add a fraction of the cost of the labor and materials used
I don't think the local body repairers will want to faff around doing this unless you are willing to pay £100,£200+ for each mirror they repair and respray.
Melhor uso pro VISA
YENİSİNİ ALSAN YA BU KADAR MASRAF EMEK :))
Make sure u mix ur bondo with a visa, master card and discover doesn't work as well
😂😂😂 thx for watching !!

How long did it take?
I don’t know where this is but the in UK it is not possible to get Acetone….or certainly not easily for the public.
Smiling because he knows all that money is about to really flow in now. Cha ching.
what is ABC plastic plz???
The guy at the body shop is making lots of money because he's fixing the old parts now but still billing the insurance company for new parts. Not just bad drivers increase your insurance cost.
If you had put the tape over the hole first and then taped a thin bit of plastic sheet over that you would have saved yourself a lot of rubbing down after. I do it all the time with P40 fibreglass repair stuff and get excellent results ;)
Thanks for the advice !
wear protecting glasses when using baking soda together with super glue. Projections can severely harm.
Did you teach your friend to fill and paint properly and ? If I paid for that repair that stands out like sore thumb I wouldnt be very happy.
Thx for watching !!
@@IdeasYtrucos713 Hi ytrucos713 the plastic repair is good idea to help . Didnt mean to sound ,rude but after going to the trouble of mending the plastic the filling and paint job does let it down .
Türkiye'de plastik imalat işi yapıyorum. Kanalınızı zevkle takip ediyorum. Teşekkürler
👍👍
Use polyester flexible filler, but either way the labor costs more than replacing a $22 cover
