During qualifying for the Spa Six Hours 2012, Nigel did the first sub 3 minute lap for an Austin Healey 3000 in the famous DD300.
Nigel along with car owners Christiaen van Lanschot and Karsten Le Blanc finished a superb 10th overall and top Healey in the 6 hour race.
This is the factory car that raced at Le Mans in 1962 and is now prepared by Denis Welch Motorsport
Great drive, and what a noise! Love it :D
Nice drive Nigel in a superb British straight 6 car sounds mega.Love it.
Thanks Nigel!
Impressive and smooth ...
Love it! Great lap. We got a drive thru for same Blanchimont approach by the way. Hope when I get the chance to go under 3 min. with the same new Avons! Very nice all together.
Used to drive like that from Dundee to Perth in a /63 3000 Mk2a to get tickets for York House dances....topped 127 on occasion and frightened the life out of Morris E and Baby Austin drivers on the way !!!
Very impressive lap indeed!
Makes me pine for my 1966 AH 3000 Mark III which I sold long ago.
I prefer my Healey 100/6 from 1958 . One of the last sports Healey's . I'm so sorry for you ;-)
Fantastic
LOVED the 'Ride-a-Long'... but wish the camera had been aimed a little differently... it made it look like the car was running sort of crooked. Pointed down the centerline of the hood , or inline with the driver's view is more comfortable to the viewer... (smile)
Suis toujours désolé de signaler les conducteurs qui font "vroum vroum" et ne savent pas faire le double débrayage ! - Ce ne sont pas les même mains qui ouvrent les boites de vitesses non plus . Belle vidéo
Not knowing the length of a lap I am left to wonder what the average speed of this one was, either in MPH or KPH. The peak velocity was 130, not too shabby. Whose electronics are superimposed on the screen?
Awesome
Fantastic! Reduced at first in 2:50, I will not try it in mine.
Impressive! What gearbox do you have in there? I see the overdrive switch, but curious about ratios, etc.
Good? They say that the 3000’s go 115mph, I have had my 63 there. But when the Healey heats up the OD isn’t reliable. I cannot see mine making these speeds ever. Also with knock off spoke wheels why invite disaster?
The noise. My god the noise....
Is Beautiful!
