  • Hi Richard, it looks to be running well, reduce the speed to a steady tickover to allow the boiler to keep up with the demand, it will also run better as the water reduces creating more volume of steam. My whistle was also a bit leaky and had to tighten it to the boiler by turning it 90 degrees, and also tightening up the nut on the lever. Dont blow the whistle too much as this exhausts the pressure too quickly. The wicks do an ok job, I think they improve after a few uses and create a good strong flame. Rgds Ade

    • Thanks Ade. I'm right to have the governor belt on the smaller pulley at the flywheel, yes? I think there must be a sweet spot for speed to have enough momentum to get to the next power stroke but not too fast to run out of steam. I think the piston is also binding slightly at one point, which wont help. I've checked the whistle lever nut, but not the tightness of the whistle to the boiler. I think the steam is leaking past the whistle valve. I'm right to expect the pressure relief valve to operate under normal operation, showing max pressure reached?

    • @richardmarkham8369 yes, you need it to be bind free, as it hasn't got much power. Yes to rhe other questions

    • @@AdeSwash Cheers Ade! Just tried her on compressed air. Runs perfect from about 3-4psi. Once I get past 5psi the governor is operating to regulate the speed. It does seem to oscillate a little though. No idea what pressure the boiler should reach but I would guess 5 psi should be easy?
