1984 Corvette with the Crossfire fuel injection engine that we switch out for a carburetor.
I will post a new Corvette update every Friday till it’s drivable! Or we give up! Which ever one happens first!
Well, out with the Crossfire Injection and in with the Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold.
Injection to carb swap!
Lots of old parts gone, lets see if we can get it to start!
One of my sons and myself, were looking for a project vehicle that we could work on together this Summer. We came across this 1984 Corvette with the notorious Crossfire fuel injected 350 cubic inch engine.
I have never worked on this particular style fuel injection. I have owned many Chevy small block V8 engines in a large variety of my past vehicles, but this is my first Crossfire injection system. If we cannot get the original fuel system running easily, more than likely we will end up switching it out for a new intake and carburetor set up.
The car has been parked for at least 15 years. There are more mice living in the car than I could imagine. The inside of the car smells worse than any vehicle I have ever purchased. This is going to be one heck of a project.
I purchased the car for an extremely fair price to the point where I don’t mind spending a lot of time and effort trying to get it up and running. I will also let my son have almost full control over the build. This will be his first project car that he is responsible for.
I just hope it does not take too long to get it up and running. We have no history of the car, except that it was driven to the spot years ago and the owner was getting ready to do some bodywork on it. It has not moved since.
I will attempt to video record as many of the repairs as practical, and I hope you will follow along with us trying to get this car roadworthy.
Obviously there will be more than one video of this project vehicle.

  • Hey, this video should encourage other family to consider a low cost investment project to save an old Corvette. I was shocked to see the dash completely blown out but young minds are brave. I was surprised not to see dual fours on the cross ram, even small holleys might be fun to have be harder to tune. I get that. The Engine seems solid, just needs a nice 350 HP cam to wake it up. Your boy remind me of me, could not wait to throw gravel or burnout. Take care, Have fun and thanks for sharing. S o cool to see the progress. Makes me think about a 64 in a different light.
