Our Mary and Princess Catherine get on very well, have similar personalities, honour their husbands and countries, have worked very hard to learn all the royal protocols, etc for the position they know they were marrying into.....and on top of all that, Mary learned to speak the language fluently.

A "parure" is a set of jewellery pieces, similarly styled made to be worn together. Of course, not all pieces need to be worn at the same time. A "parure tiara" is a tiara that is part of a set.

@@pwhorselover other than the Emeralds, Denmark has three parures in the Crown Jewel collection. The others are a set of pearls and rubies (a different set than Queen Mary’s usual), the diamond set (or Brilliant-sættet as it is called in Danish, which is estimated to be the most valuable in the collection), and the rather mysterious Rosette set (mysterious because it’s a mystery how it used to be worn). The Emeralds are however the only set in the Danish Crown Jewels that includes a tiara. But in the royal collection there are other parures as well. Queen Mary’s rubies and the Pearl Poire set.

As an Australian 🇦🇺 I am so proud of Mary, she has honoured our country And her husbands contry, by being so dedicated to learn the royal protocols, how to act in public, how to even speak the language.... and now has the incredible position as Queen of Denmark....she has 4 beautiful children, who are following in their parents footsteps to work for their country..... if only Harry had married someone even half as good as our Mary ❤❤❤❤❤❤, and all the photos ive seen, Mary and Catherine get on very well together, walking behind their husbands, never pulling or pushing them anywhere!!!

We love Mary and she has created a greater relationship between Denmark and Australia. Which was the original purpose of royals marrying people from other countries. ❤️❤️❤️ Yes, she and Catherine gets along very well. Hopefully, after the Nordic countries, the next monarchy the Danish King and Queen will go on a State visit to, is the UK. I believe that the close ties between the two oldest monarchies of Europe should be upheld.

My absolute favourite will always be the Danish ruby parure tiara but Queen Mary also looks stunning in the emerald set. I can't wait to see her wear the Naasut tiara. I think the yellow gold floral motifs will contrast strikingly with her dark tresses. I don't know how she does it but Queen Mary seems to make just about anything she wears look so effortlessly elegant and stylish.
The rubies are also very special and have a unique history. Not sure if she can wear the Naasut tiara yet, though. It was after all a gift for Queen Margrethe.

Queen Margrethe II was the first queen regnant in recent times, how she got there is quite a story between her father Frederick IX and his brother Knud.....Brittany - if you want to branch out from jewels and fashion into historical family drama - this would be a good one. Mary looks amazing. The style of her dress reminds me a little of portraits of Tudor ladies, Mary I especially. Queen Mary of Denmark is a lot more attractive though.

I love, love, love this set and I'm thrilled Queen Mary is starting to wear it. I wasn't thrilled with the dress, though. I thought it was too fussy with all the lace. Queen Mary seems to choose clothing that showcases the beauty of the stones she wears (i.e. turquoise and amethysts, which the Danes have some of the best - if not THE best in Europe). Yes, she looked regal, but I was still surprised by this choice of dress for her first time wearing the emeralds. It didn't seem consistent with her style.

This tiara somehow looks larger on Mary than it did on QMargrethe, probably due to hair colour and positioning. I wonder if Mary will wear the emerald parure only as a set as her MiL did or if she will mix and match the pieces with other jewels. She really freshened up the Danish Ruby Parure (the earrings were made more adaptable as were other pieces, I believe) but that parure is the personal property of her husband. The emerald set belongs to the nation so I very much doubt that she would be able to tinker with any of those pieces, even if she’s so inclined. I’m sure the end result would be very nice - she has good taste - but it’s a moot point. I’m very curious to see how she will wear it to events in the years to come!

The emerald parure set is stunning but I don’t think the gown allows it to shine. The necklace is completely lost on the dark, high lace, which is lovely. I would have liked to see it worn with a lower cut neckline or a sheer top so the necklace could be appreciated. Love Tiara Tuesday!
Can you tell us the process of wearing the jewels? Where are they stored? How are they selected for each event? Do stylists fasten the crowns onto one's head so everything stays in place? How are they removed, and put away? Thank you for your videos!
These particular jewels are not just one of the regular sets of the royal jewel collection. They are part of the Danish Crown Jewels. Meaning they are not the personal property of the royal family. They belong to the Danish State. But the only person who can wear them, is the current Queen. The Danish Crown Jewels mainly consist of four parure. A diamond one, a rosette one, a ruby and pearl one (a different one than Mary’s regular rubies) and finally this set of emeralds. The three first were bequethed to the Danish State by Queen Sophia Magdalena (wife of King Christian the VI), because she was sad about that Denmark did not have any Crown Jewels. This were changed now, and these sets have since then only been worn by thr current Queen. The Emeralds were added later and is the only one of the sets that include a tiara. When not in use, the Crown Jewels are part of a permanent exhibit in the vault at Rosenborg Palace in Copenhagen, along side the rest of the jewels in the collection and the royal regalia (crown, sceptor, globe and sword). The regalia are only taken out of the exhibit, upon the death of a monarch, and while they are lying in state, these are set up next to the coffin. Along with three lion statues also exhibited in the throne room at Rosenborg. The Palace is open to the public. They are only worn on special occasions and the court has to coordinate with Rosenborg, whenever they are to be removed from the exhibit. The royals work with their personal hair stylists to find ways to set the tiaras in the hair, in ways to make sure they stay in place. The earrings are incredibly heavy and the wearer needs extra support to be able to keep them in place. Which are done with hooks that goes around the ear. Otherwise they are clip-ons. Queen Mary selects what jewelry she wants to wear and now that she is Queen, she has more at her disposal than before.

One thing I hate is when toyal ladies wear full sets. It's all way too much, and I really dislike matchy matchu jewlery anyways. I get it, it's an official portrait, but it's sooooooo much, that it looks garish. But Mary is my favorite, and I love when you showcase her.

The frame is made of Brazilian diamonds. A gift from the king Pedro to his wife-to-be.
Just the pendent she is wearing. Not the entire parure. Those are not made of diamonds from Brazil.
I think it's really beautiful. I personally prefer a lighter, more "snowflake" style that suggests that the tiara is "not from this world", but of course this tiara is gorgeous too.

Hi, Dane here! 🇩🇰 First of, thank you for putting spotlight on our little country and royal family. 😊 Secondly, there’s a clue in Margrethe 2.’s name…. She’s not the first regnant queen - there was a Margrethe 1. as well, however that’s back in the late 1300’s… And she is not a “Christian”, but “Frederik” has always been behind so to speak, as the first Christian had a son named Hans, after him Christian 2 followed on the throne and then Frederik 1. After him it was Christian 3. and then Frederik 2. Since both Margrethe’s father and son are named Frederik, there will now be a bit more logic to it, next in line after Frederik 10. is our current crown Prince, who will be crowned Christian 11.

Crowns for men need to come into style and Princess Charlette is not to wear or have a crown until she comes out on her 16th birthday. Many say she is getting far too much attention while the sister of the King works her fingers to the bone. Loves it. She is loyal. She is fun. She is down to business. She could be Queen and do a very good job at it.

The emerald jewelry set is gorgeous and so is her dress. But the color, the lace material and the neckline of the dress make it difficult to see the emeralds and the details of the necklace.
The reason why HM King Frederik X is named Frederik is, that the Christians were ahead in numbers. The last King Christian we had was King Christian X, then came HM King Frederik Xs grandfather, King Frederik IX. King Christian X followed King Frederik VIII. Now they follow eachother, so the next King will be King Christian XI, then Frederik XI and so on. This is the reason why Queen Margrethe named her firstborn Frederik 😊
The Christians have been ahead for 500 years. Had history been different, we could have had 10 Kings named Hans now as the King who followed King Christian the I was his son Hans, followed by his son Christian the II, who was then followed by his uncle, Frederik the I. We also could have had more Christians (Christian the IV’s oldest son was named Christian, but he died before he could be King), or even a couple of Carls (Frederik the VIII and Frederik the IX’s first names were actually Carl and Frederik a middlename) had history been different. The whole tradition stems from the Oldenburgs’ tradition of naming their oldest child after their grandfather. A tradition that persists until Crown Prince Christian becomes King. Queen Margrethe is named after her maternal grandmother and King Frederik is named after King Frederik the IX. While Crown Prince Christian has both John and Henrik as his middlenames, as it is likely that he will continue the tradition, and he will be the first King of Oldenburg descend since 1448 to not take their regnal name after their grandparent. But if he wanted to, he actually could break the tradition. His last middlename is Valdemar, another famous name of Danish Kings. I doubt he will do that. But if it ever did strike his mind, he can consider being King Valdemar the V instead of King Christian the XI.
I do think the dress isn’t quite right with the jewellery. Although Mary looks lovely, the necklace is lost against the elaborate lace top of the dress. I feel that a simpler design would have shown off the parure better. A beautiful set of jewellery!

The dress was all wrong it did not highlight the necklace at all...a lighter color would have been better & pictures at times do not do it justice maybe in person it looked OK.
I am danish and we are very fond of our new Queen. She always dresses perfectly. I must agreee with you though. This dress doesn’t do anything good for especially the neckless. It should have been “neckless” for the jewels to show themselves at the best and they are very lovely.
