  • Keep being awesome Mr copperfield! Thank you for everything you do and the show we saw in Vegas about 5 years ago! Thank you sooo much! Cheers!

  • When you're really flexible you can fold your legs into position you didn't think was possible. There's probably more room in the table for his legs and his assistant torso on the other side. It's disguised to look shallow.

  • He is sitting down in a touch your toes position. His legs are hidden up to his waists so all you can see is his top half. It is the same with the bottom half of his “body” but his partner is upside down in the same position It takes great flexibility for this trick.( I figured this out on my first try😏)

  • This is incredible, The music from Aliens is perfect for it. Even though we know how it's done it doesn't look obvious because there appears to be no room for some else to hide that's why it looks real even though its not obviously. I think his Wall of China illusion is the greatest illusion of all time and I know how that's done but again it doesn't look obvious and with the light box and music (from the movie 2010) and his heart supposedly stopping just makes it magical

    • Alien? I thought it was from Batman. It all kinda sounds the same. I don't know know how it was done, and I don't want to know. Everyone talks about the Statue of Liberty show but this one was a HELLUVA lot more exciting. I like not knowing how it was done. Knowing is a magic trick of it's own. It turns a masterpiece of entertainment into a cheap parlor trick.

    • Very few magicians have the ability to dress their tricks up or the stage presence Copperfield has. He has a gift for that. And is a talented magician to boot. I love how he plays with expectation subversion like in Slow Mo Duck. Or his up close magic like the banana/bandana one. His flying one was exceptional because he made it look new while actually not changing anything. All the same tricks but a new way.

  • I lost a massive amount of respect for him as a child when I realized that he used "plants" in each of his audiences, as he did during a live performance at the Wharton Center in Lansing, Michigan. ("Move your feet!" was a clear example of a plant that others have already commented, could also be heard at the same moment of the same trick, during live performances) The original televised broadcast for a trick other than the one shown in this clip, had him asking an audience member who SWORE that she'd never met him before, what her name was. She replied with "Bambi". He turned to the man next to her and replied, "And you must be Thumper." I was a huge fan of David Copperfield and a magic efficionado, so when my parents got us tickets to see him live, I literally lost my mind. At the show, he performed the same effect, only this time, the audience member stated that her name was "Lightning"...he turned to the gentleman beside her and said, "And you must be Thunder." I was destroyed to learn that Mr. Copperfield had engaged in cheats to pull off, what I thought were fair and fantastic illusions. Magic is always a lie, but using phony audience members seemed like a dirty trick. After the show, he did come out to the lobby to sign autographs, yet he did so from a 13 foot tall podium throne, well above all of our heads, and when I said thank you for signing my magic club catalog, he glanced in my direction, said nothing, and quickly moved on to the next item to sign. Fast forward about 7 years. My friend and I went to the same place (the Wharton Center in Lansing Michigan) to see Penn and Teller perform. They were an absolute riot! During intermission, they came out to the lobby and spoke with all of us! This was the first time that I heard Teller's voice and he was incredibly social, especially given that they must tour frequently and have hosted thousands of performances. I spoke directly to them both and they responded back, as well as signing autographs for anyone who asked. Penn Jillette and Miles Teller were more than celebrities, that evening. They were my heroes. They demonstrated the humanity and grace that Copperfield never bothered to muster. It restored my faith in magic and I continue to enjoy it today, thanks very much, in part, to them. But David Copperfield has never demonstrated that he has one single intention of learning from their example. Sorry, but I just don't care about any further attempts on his part to remain relevant.
