I did the exact same thing with Palkia in one of my Pearl reruns. Dalgia and Palkia both have HIGHLY inflated catch odds to make them easy to catch so that you can't really miss them.
Are they just plastic? I always thought pokeballs were a mix of metal and silicon, basically electronics lol

I honestly catch all of my legendaries in pokeballs in some games, because ultra balls are just cursed for me

Interestingly, Palkia and Dialga have a catch rate of 30 in D/P/Pt, so catching either in a regular Poké Ball is not too difficult. Still, very impressive that you caught it in the VERY FIRST ball! Also, mad respect to you for choosing Diamond for this challenge, that was my very first main series Pokémon game I ever owned, as a 9-year old. My first Pokémon game ever was the original Ranger. So underrated.

Shadows of Almia is definitely the best one in the series (saying this without having watched a full playthrough of Guardian Signs, oops), but it would also be awesome to see one of these Pokétubers play the original Pokémon Ranger game, in Gen 3, and make a video out of it. The original is challenging and has a lot of nostalgic music, great music, and a creepy overworld as Pokémon can do more to you than just chase after or charge at you. They can confuse you, whisk away your own Pokémon, be invisible, hide in the tall grass and other things.

If you're willing to farm Heart Scales in the Underground, you can restore the PP of any level-up moves infinitely by first visiting the Move Deleter, then giving a Heart Scale to the Move Reminder in Pastoria.

That dialga catch reminds me of my first Pokemon Platinum run. Where I second turn caught both Dialga and Palkia with regular pokeballs during their respective battles. Unfortunately I was far too young to truly understand the hype level of that achievement.
Technically, since the pokemon league also contains a pokemon center, you entered one and the run is invalid. Real talk though, Gen 4 was my first pokemon game and I'm glad to see people doing new things in it.

To be fair, the box art legends of gen 4 have a ridiculous high catch rate of 30 which has been lowered to 3 since gen7. Don't get me wrong for it to be caught in the first poké ball is still impressive.

15:05 The reason that there's a discrepancy between the probabilities listed on that site and Bulbapedia is because Dialga and Palkia's catch rates were changed between generations. In Diamond and Pearl it was actually pretty decent odds, about on par with Pokémon like Absol, Murkrow and Chatot (probably because it was a required part of the story), but in later games, they made it the same as every other legendary Pokémon. I don't mean to ruin the moment, because first turn Dialga in a Pokéball is still pretty cool, but not nearly as unlikely as it seems

But the way, the probability for catching dialoga at full hp in Diamond with a pokeball is approximately 4%, not 0.4%. This is because before ORAS, Dialga’s catch rate was 30 instead of 3.

Soooo, stupid question, but shouldn’t you should add “no whiteing out” to the list of rules, since you could white out on purpose to fully heal your Party. You would have to walk all the way back tho, since you’d spawn at home if you really never enter a pokecenter :D

you should do a randomized thicclocke! Same rules as a nuzlocke but you can only catch the first thicc pokemon you encounter per route. (recommend selecting thicc starter pokemon as well)

There is another way to solve the PP issue. When it comes to level up moves, you could just delete them and then have the move relearner reteach them. You would just need to farm some heart scales in the underground
ooh, i'd love to see this challenge done in pokemon black and white, since the pokemart is included in the pokemon center would you have access to the mart? i know you'd get some store vendors in the driftveil martket and then the move deleter in striaton right after that, i think that could be interesting

Apparently the odds of that dialga catch were a little more 4% Super lucky but honestly much better than I expected. Pokemon like mewtwo or rayquaza are like .4% In other words you're 10 times more likely to catch a dialga than one of them

15:10 Fun fact for anyone interested. The reason PointCrow and the viewer got different results on the catch rate is because Dialga and Palkia had their catch rates changed Between DP and BDSP In original Diamond/Pearl Dialga and Palkia had a catch rate of 45, which is the same as Ditto. But in BDSP, they had their catch rate changed to that of typical legendaries which is 2 or 3
