    • Too much money. Chiefs won’t be able to resign key players like tyreek and Travis Kelce and other players like Chris Jones. Patrick Mahomes won’t be able to produce the same when his team won’t have the greatest weapons. However patty Mahomes is a great quarterback and deserved this contract.

      @Geeandrezzi@Geeandrezzi3 жыл бұрын
    • Gee Andrezzi you must not understand in 2 years $40M a year is gonna be child’s play. Let me ask you something where were you when Tannehill signed a $118M contract for playing 2 playoff snaps his whole career?? Cousins, romo, Wentz, were they worth all that money?? But no one bats an eye. But Dak been playing on a weak as deal for 4 seasons. And you saying he not worth $39-40M a year for 4 years?? Not 5-10 years only 4. Name the QB other than Tom Brady that wasn’t a 1st pick and did anywhere near what Dak did.....

      @coldwolf7014@coldwolf70143 жыл бұрын
    • LeVelle Coley no cousins wasn’t worth the money he signed for. Wentz (when healthy) is worth the money. And Romo? The reason Jerry Jones ain’t paying Dak whatever he wants is because of Romo. Romo for years didn’t lead his team to anything worthy of the money he was paid, despite having a GREAT TEAM around him. Dak is in the same situation right now, I’m not paying Dak top dollar and he can’t even win more than 1 playoff game with a superstar roster around him. GTFOH

      @Geeandrezzi@Geeandrezzi3 жыл бұрын
    • Gee Andrezzi that’s not even top dollar anymore and you and everyone else don’t understand that 😂 when Russell Wilson comes due again $45-50 a year is top dollar 😂😂 so Dak would be paid where he should be. $36-40M but you’re too blind to see. What about Lamar Jackson? Dak won rookie of the year too, led his team to the playoffs too his first year like Lamar Jackson, he won no super bowl, when it’s time to pay up, $35-40M is going to be for average QBs then. Do you understand how it works now? Dak will be and is worth any $M between $36-40M. Because in 2 years out that 4 year deal he wants all these star QBs will be getting the real top dollars. Then the $40M is an after thought. Think about it.

  • I agree. It's IMPROBABLE to draft or sign a young/promising QB with the dual responsibility of playing above average AND also garner public interest (i.e. ticket sales).

  • The last time a team won a Super Bowl with a highly paid quarterback was the Saints in 09-10, and Drew Brees was in his fifth year of a 6 year contract that he signed in Free Agency. The other time that a Quarterback was a top 5 paid player and won a Super Bowl was John Elway in 1999. Go down the list of Super Bowl Winners, it doesn't happen often. 2020: Mahomes - Rookie Contract 2019: Brady - Underpaid and took less money 2018: Wentz/Foles - Rookie/backup Contract 2017: Brady - Underpaid and took less money 2016: Peyton Manning - Restructured his deal, salary under 18 million 2015: Brady - Underpaid and took less money 2014: Wilson - Rookie Contract 2013: Flacco - Rookie Contract 2012: Eli Manning - Not a top 10 paid Quarterback 2011: Rodgers - On a "Prove it" Deal after Farve left 2010: Brees - In year 5 of 6 from Free Agency Contract 2009: Roethlisberger - Rookie Contract 2008: Eli Manning - Rookie Contract 2007: Peyton Manning - On a "Prove it" Deal in Indy 2006: Roethlisberger - Rookie Contract 2005: Brady - Restructured Rookie Contract 2004: Brady - Restructured Rookie Contract 2003: Brad Johnson - Middle Road Contract 2002: Brady - Rookie Contract 2001: Trent Dilfer - Backup Contract 2000: Warner - Undrafted Rookie Contract 1999: Elway - Resigning for Big Money to go Back to Back instead of retiring. If you're goal is to win games and get to the playoffs, yes paying a Quarterback top 10 money is worth it. If you're goal is to win Super Bowls, CLEARLY it seems that the best way to do that is by paying you Quarterback less money. Mahomes will have two windows to win Super Bowls with his contract, the next 2 years and the last 2-3 years. The Chiefs have the pieces to win now, but they'll lose those in a year or two. Until the Salary Cap catches up with the contract in years 8, 9, and 10 they wont have the money to reload those pieces.

    • Is it because of him or his great coach (McVay) and roster he had around him? Same with Jimmy G. Their coaches are among the best in the league and if you look how much Cam Newton, Jamis Winston, Andy Dalton, Marcus Mariota andTeddy Bridgewater, Tyrod Taylor and Case Keenum make you have to question if they earn significant more money because they are that much better at playing QB or got lucky to end up in the situation they are in.

    • @@Ah-ws9nm Well that and players can only add so much to their team's win. Trout is one position in the outfield. He is one bat in the lineup. He can hit 4 home runs a night, and if the Angels give up 5 runs, they lose. QBs aren't the whole team, but they are at least on the field for every offensive play. It's so hard to compare baseball and football contracts.
