    • + the ground game of Adesanya showed his real weakness, I think the future opponents will be exploring this option more often! If Jan would take him down on the first round it could probably ended before the time limit

    • @@Daniel-xu1xc yeah... but actually no, last time I checked only Derek Brunson really tried. I saw all his fights and they didn't try hard enough though - Kelvin Gastelum (UFC236) did take Izzy down in round 3 but back to head hunt... and Yoel Romero (UFC 248) didn't try at all, DC and Rogan talked about it a lot. Neither Paulo Costa tried... and it was big mistake. Jan showed not only that Izzy can be put down successfully but more important wasn't able to get up at all in round 4 and 5! He was literally save by the bell fully mount! Watch the fight again and listening DC comments! It's a game plan for Jack Hermansson or/and Jared Cannonier

      @jerrywielo2952@jerrywielo29523 жыл бұрын
    • @@jerrywielo2952 Here's the thing, to take someone down you have to actually get close to them first... People can't even get close enough to land a decent punch on Izzy in the MW division so how are they going to take him down? He has a huge reach advantage in his division and uses it very well. Against Jan not only was that mitigated but he also had a huge weight advantage and basically just mowed him down, something people in MW won't be able to do.

    • @@Daniel-xu1xc yeah yeah yeah ... Izzy is great striker but this is MMA - no one was able to take down Connor - remember? Diaz made a path and next we see Khabib run him like a little bitch... • Yan's interpreter is very inaccurate: too loose interpretations missing important details. For example, Yan told exactly that he was focused on Sterling's hands and felt like Sterling was squatting rather than kneeling with one knee which was interpreted like he was focused on Sterling's hands and throwing the knee when the opponent would be up. Some interpretations are even opposite: Yan said that he tried to utilize Sterling's spinning attacks taking his back (which actually took place a lot of times throughout the fight) and this was interpreted like "I tried not to give up my back and not let him land all these spinning attacks". Great fight with a disappointing ending for both fighters, especially for Sterling. Good health and speediest recovery to Sterling! An immediate rematch after his recovery is the best outcome in this situation. P.S. Even with that rough translation you can get an overall picture. I would just add that English is not Yan's native language, actually he hardly speaks it at all, and a human brain works the way that Yan's one was filtering the voices in Russian, his mother tongue, from his corner at the moment, so the referee's exclamation "Grounded!" couldn't by any chance be expected to be heard by him. On the contrary it seems that among all the shouting I was able to hear "Knee!" in Russian from his corner, but I'm not sure that it was exactly the word. Though he states that he didn't hear his corner at the moment maybe subconciously he did. Anyway I definitely didn't hear the word "head", they could mean a knee to the body, so the responsibility lies wholy on Yan and next time he'll be more cautious and maybe prepare some good Cormier style uppercuts (with the other hand behind the opponent's head) for such situations. What happened to Yan can happen to anyone, but more important is that Yan has a strong killer instinct, it's a crucial part of his style, so such a mistake agrees perfectly well with his style. Edit: It was not "Hit, hit him! Knee!", but "Hit, hit him! Strike!" Some people analyzed it and after relistening to that moment several times I agree with them.

  • Lol Dana is so salty, he knows Izzy is where the money is at and is so upset he didn’t win. And yes you do end up with 10-8 rounds when Izzy doesn’t land anything, just because every time Izzy threw something the commentators hyped it up like Izzy was rocking jan even though it was just hitting his gloves and when Jan landed nice shots they didn’t say shit. Foh Jan didn’t have a scratch on his face, if there was 30 seconds left of the 5th round Izzy would have had to been carried out of the octagon
