The high track D4 skidders I was around always seem to be operated by kids told to Go Go Go, so yes, things happen in the woods!! High centered on a stump or buried four feet into a bog, never had a rollover😂

Good video! They were surely working hauling that cable, but those guys look like they haul a lot of cable everyday. Nothing new to a logger! Most of the crews I work around would have tied the Deere Skidder on and winched it with that, but every situation is different. Thanks for the video!

It's unreal, you see all the old timers come up with a plan in 5 minutes that worked, yet the younger generation wouldn't have a clue, I didn't see any young blokes there. It's very sad to see were running out of old timers like these blokes that have done so much, over so many years. And yes things happen sometimes but they sorted it out pretty quick. The new generation does sweet F.A in comparason generally.

just looking at it, got sideways in the turn (turn is hauling in logs behind a cat or skidder) on soft soil and over she goes.. the mentality of Loggers, do what needs to be done, to get back to work.. PS.. never get your tail hold to high on the stump..

From my understanding, he was grabbing the log with the grapplers and he hit some very soft dirt and then it just rolled over slowly, at least thats what the operator said, Mind you he rolled it over 3 Days earlier Also, thats why I was there My friend Daryl asked me to Video it because I told him you should of called me when he recovered it the First time LOL.

whats better about a high track you ask? well I know they ride way better because your centered between both ends instead at the rear..less up and down and probably have higher ground clearance underneath also

I used to be a clever twat as well. but i lost 2 fingers on a steel cable that it went through one and out the other and pulled them onto the winch drum a hard lesson. A glove would have been ripped off, instead it was my fingers. but if you want to be a MAN then carry on, dont loose your fingers

not if it's dry.. no need for them (and looking at the logo on the white truck in the beginning, that's Placerville which is about 40 miles east of Sacramento CA) in the summer time.. in Oregon (where I'm from) oh HELL yes we use chains on the skidders, your not going to get enough traction in the mud othewise.

weed and hemp are to different (still the same plant but almost no thc) to get high of hemp you would need a j the size of a tele pole. and you can use hemp to build a house its called hempcrete. yes you still need some wood but not as much.

Wouldn't matter, oil seeped into the cylinders between the head and pistons.

+Grant Gilbert Exactly. Some you have to take the glow plugs or injectors out and turn it over to force oil out of the cylinders. They wont drain after days sometimes.

Good way of ruining an engine starting it that quick. I put my grapple skidder almost over and just far enough the feller/buncher had to come save me but not all the way over. And we still let it sit for a 5-10 minutes before running it. Started it just long enough to drop the drag I was holding when it was righted
