  • Isn’t it funny how hard it is sometimes to explain what you are doing to someone else . It’s all so logical to you but it was nice to see him being in awe and getting the picture as you progressed . The first time I saw your channel was years ago and you were putting in a long drive to the site where they were going to build a house . I was so impressed with how you were such a one man crew to the point you had to keep jumping out of one machine to another . Laying down the black plastic sheeting then having to go and get your gravel then lay it . You hadn’t built your house but you had a plan and you knew how to achieve it so I just watched you job after job and this video feels like I’m reminiscing but with a bigger mean machine. X

I would have started at the bottom and worked up. That shows how much I don't know about how to do certain things. Watching Andrew is how to learn such.

  • Thank you for another cool video, Andrew. Yes, I know what it's like where you are- I'm just down the Thruway a few miles, Exit 31. I used to drive out to the Hudson valley area sometimes for my route. Capital region, Southern Tier, Tri-State area. All this area was under an enormously deep prehistoric ocean. The Finger Lakes are scars of the ice retreating. Near me is a Village named Waterville, NY. Fossils of Bivalves, Trilobites, etc. Sedimentary rock (shale) is miserable stuff. It's not "real dirt" when you think about it. Might as well try to plant a garden in the Great Salt Lake bed. I admire your effort, the content and production are spot on as usual. I really enjoy long, thoughtfully produced videos about something I'm interested in.

Just needs some heavy plastic ground cover put down then 4 to 6 inches of gravel on top rolled in with Andrew's roller like Chris Letsdig18 does it. A couple of those huge flat rocks at the bottom to be address stones would have been really cool. With them facing opposite ways. Chris did that on his homestead with flat rocks he got ffom a huge rock removal job for a hillside Vetenary building.

  • Andrew's excavating videos are about the only ones I will watch on YT because he throws the video into high speed with good music for background and only slows it down for the important parts. Most of the other KZheadrs don't do that and instead they drone on and on in their long videos telling this story and that story and what should be a short video turns into a long one. Good job, Andrew, on both the new driveway and the way you do your videos.

    • Let's be fair, a highway project has significantly higher expectations for wear & tear, speed, drainage, etc. Nothing wrong with a 12% slope 0.1 mile single lane driveway, mind!

    • @@terrencejreich I don't know how the registration works where he's from, but Jesse Muller got his own lowboy and truck, but he registered it so that it's not 'for hire', so basically he can only use it for his own equipment. Which makes it much cheaper than normal. Going off his videos he broke even within a short amount of time because he was using it to pick up ICFs.
