Tyreek Hill is an American football wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). Hill was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He played college football at Garden City, Oklahoma State, and West Alabama.
A former track and field star, Hill played primarily as a return specialist as a rookie but has transitioned to strictly playing wide receiver. Following his rookie year, he received the nickname "Cheetah" in reference to his speed.
He has been selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his eight seasons in the league, won Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs, and was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team as a punt returner.
Kylian Mbappé is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and captains the France national team. Regarded as one of the best players in the world, he is known for his dribbling, speed, and finishing. A highly skillful player, Mbappé is known for his dribbling ability, as well as his explosive acceleration, agility, quick feet, first touch, link-up play and creativity when in possession of the ball, as demonstrated by his use of elaborate feints, such as step overs, or sudden changes of pace or direction to beat opponents in one-on-one situations. He is highly regarded for his pace and close ball control when dribbling at speed, as well as his movement.
Usain Bolt is a Jamaican retired sprinter, widely considered to be the greatest sprinter of all time. He is the world record holder in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 4 × 100 metres relay. An eight-time Olympic gold medallist, Bolt is the only sprinter to win Olympic 100 m and 200 m titles at three consecutive Olympics (2008, 2012, and 2016). He also won two 4 × 100 relay gold medals. He gained worldwide fame for his double sprint victory in world record times at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, which made him the first person to hold both records since fully automatic time became mandatory. An eleven-time World Champion, he won consecutive World Championship 100 m, 200 m and 4 × 100 metres relay gold medals from 2009 to 2015, with the exception of a 100 m false start in 2011. He is the most successful male athlete of the World Championships. Bolt is the first athlete to win four World Championship titles in the 200 m and is one of the most successful in the 100 m with three titles, being the first person to run sub-9.7s and sub-9.6s. Bolt improved upon his second 100 m world record of 9.69 with 9.58 seconds in 2009 - the biggest improvement since the start of electronic timing. He has twice broken the 200 metres world record, setting 19.30 in 2008 and 19.19 in 2009. He has helped Jamaica to three 4 × 100 metres relay world records, with the current record being 36.84 seconds set in 2012. Bolt's most successful event is the 200 m, with three Olympic and four World titles. The 2008 Olympics was his international debut over 100 m; he had earlier won numerous 200 m medals (including 2007 World Championship silver) and held the world under-20 and world under-18 records for the event until being surpassed by Erriyon Knighton in 2021.
His achievements as a sprinter have earned him the media nickname "Lightning Bolt", and his awards include the IAAF World Athlete of the Year, Track & Field Athlete of the Year, BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year (three times), and Laureus World Sportsman of the Year (four times). Bolt was included in Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2016. Bolt retired after the 2017 World Championships, when he finished third in his last solo 100 m race, opted out of the 200 m, and pulled up injured in the 4×100 m relay final.

  • For non-track & field fans, 1 second is a huge difference in speed. 9.58s is a World Record, 10.58s is 5th place at a high school state championship.

    • There's a reason why the world record stayed for over 10 seconds for half a century. One can become very fast relatively easy. But to get over the hump and keep dropping those fractions of a second is where the real challenge begins. At that point it is not only physical ability. It requires mental super-strength.

    • Yes exactly. As a football fan, it annoys me when some of our fans are so stupid. Bolt is the fastest sprinter of all time, obviously mbappe is not faster. The same way Usain Bolt flopped when trying to become a footballer. • It's not a 7 mins difference. I.e. let's say that the winner of a marathon runs 2:05, a 7 mins difference is 2:12 which is a great time, that only elite athletes can run. While running 11 on 100m is not even that good for a 17 y.o. kid... If you want to compare different events, you have to use the world athletics scoring tables. On 100m, 10s is 1206 and 11s is 886. On the marathon, that is 2:07 vs 2:27. It's 20 minutes slower.

  • I don't think non runners realize that a 1 second difference in a 100-meter dash is absolutely crazy. Comparing it to a different distance, incase you know the marathon a little better, is the equivalent of a 7 minute difference. In the marathon, finishing 7 minutes behind 1st is genuinely such a large gap. Still, both would be respectable, but it's definitely not worth comparing. (Math for translating 1 second in the 100m to the marathon was just finding the amount of meters in a marathon and use the same time to distance ratio which gave me roughly 7 minutes). Also, for Mbappe, compared to Usain Bolt, the difference is 10.9 to 9.58, which gives us 1.32 seconds, which gives us roughly 9 minutes and 15 seconds behind 1st in a marathon. Once again, respectable, but nowhere near 1st. -Just so you know, I personally understand that this was a joke post to even compare Mbappe and Usain Bolt since they are 2 completely different athletes and shouldn't be compared to due to their different disciplines but I thought it would be a fun comparison for other runners out there to get a good idea of the shear difference in that amount of time for a 100m by stretching it out into a bigger race.

    @Jumpman-305@Jumpman-305Ай бұрын
    • It’s pretty simple to compare distance gaps at the end of a race if you know their times. Assuming their top end speed is around 10m/s, every .1s difference becomes a 1m gap (bout a yard and 3 inches). Same goes for 40 times. That’s why 4.21s from Xavier is so astounding. That’s enough to smoke a 4.3 CB

      @archsys307@archsys307Ай бұрын
    • @@archsys307 is it really enough to smoke a corner? Let’s say 4.2 WR catches a speed out and makes a right turn up the field with a 4.3 CB on his hip and they dead sprint to the end zone. Using average yard/second, it would take 5 seconds for 4.2 WR to make a 1 yard gap between 4.3 CB. Both will have ran 47.5 and 46.5 yard respectively down field. A 1 yard gap is a nice bit of separation but taking 5 seconds and 45 yards to do so shows that 4.2 speed does NOT “smoke” 4.3 speed. This is why scouts consider 4.5 even for a corner to be fast given you have other attributes.

      @roderickclerk5904@roderickclerk5904Ай бұрын
    • @@roderickclerk5904 I did embellish with smoke, but .1s is absolutely the liftoff mark that allows you to be a much bigger threat to a corner than if the 40 gap was only .05s, it means the time to half a yard separation is damn near 2 seconds especially if their 20 yard splits are even more differentiated and if the CB is tailing a half yard behind or more in the first place, in 2 seconds that could be the difference between a catch, TD, and incompletion. It’s not going to be every situation but small speed increases can make huge differences in those 1 in 20

Always blows my mind to think about the gaps among the elites in sports and then think about average people, hell even above average athletic people 😅

  • Interesting video. I ran a 12.6 in grade 8 (age 13). Not sure if it's still the school record but I did hold that for a few years to my knowledge. I ended up peaking at age 17 with a time of 11.4 (not the record) and then I said, 'eff it' lol. I wasn't quite quick enough to pursue anything else serious after that. Meh, whatever. I went on to do other things in life (pro cycling). Still love staying fit to this day (age 48).

  • That's not the full speed (potential) of the Mpape why, he was controlling the ball and it slowed him down. In this case, Usain bolt had the most advantage cos his both hands are free and he made the most of them to move his body. Tyreek on the other hand had to just use his one arm to swing.. Nice video, you did a great job 👍

    @V1CTOR07@V1CTOR07Ай бұрын
  • 1) I don't think it was actually specified how that time of Mbappe was measured or if he ran with or without the ball. 2) I don't think that it is even possible to run 100m straight with the ball on the football pitch, which is from 100 to 110m long by the rules. There would be defenders in the way so no chance for straight run. There is some minimal chance that you could run 100m without ball while returning from the opponents goal area or vice versa - running from your own to support the attack. 3) Flying start means that you are crossing the start already at speed. Penalty for standing start would be much more than 0,15 s of reaction. To put things into perspective - the fastest 4x100m relay split time for flying 100m is 8,70s. Summary: You did some interesting and creative video while missing some key facts and based on dubious reporting from BBC. Total Running Productions channel did just the same in slightly different form.
