Early March, we went to the military museum Arsenalen in Strängnäs. A King Tiger was on display, borrowed from Bovington Tank Museum. Since the Tiger soon was to leave Sweden for Finland, we decided that we had to see it before it was too late.
Arsenalen was a great museum with a lot of interesting vehicles. (For a fika-obsessed country like Sweden, the cafeteria was a bit of a let-down, though.) Beside the opportunity to see a real Tiger II, I got some nice inspiration as to what to build in the future.
Great video Erik and a nice museum - but then any Museum with a Stalwart in it's collection is good in my book! I was in the "Wheeled A" section for two years in Germany working only on Ferrets and Stollies and I loved them both. An RC Stollie would be great!
That's so cool! Nice to hear first hand info from someone using it. I didn't get to cover it this time, but Sweden used the Stalwart until 1985. And we actually had a discussion about doing an RC model of one! 😁 I had plans on a Saladin in 1/6 scale once, but it failed on the wheels - as often the case with unusual vehicles, it's hard to find tires in the right size.
@@builtbyWikander I see now that there are resins available to print a rubber tyre so that might be viable now. Steering and driveline would be quite complicated though!
@@martingardener90 Yeah, not an easy task. Hans that made the puma put a lot of hours to make that thing steer and run without breaking.
Looks like a terrific museum.
Yeah, it's great!
Great video, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Thats coming to my museum this summer
Sweet! Hope you get a chance to check it out!
@@builtbyWikander yes i Will see it very likely
