@@pablodavies414 Thanks again Lee for sharing the link to our great chat.

@@pablodavies414 Hassan kindly says you "made a mistake". Between you me and the bars, you made a lot of mistakes. And you compounded them. Then repeated them. But when it mattered, you did man up. I may be reaching, but the shared pad thing was at D cat? If so, that left you open. Hard call. Right call. The Prison service needs training help. You have experience that can and would help. You may just fit in. Make them tell you no. PS: From an ex con.

Do you not get to use a phone in prison? Like a 5 minute call a day? Have american prison films lied to me all this time?
@Ahmed A2 so he should of just told the guy to wait for his scheduled phone call in retrospect
I feel HMP should hire guys like this to talk from the heart to trainee prison officers. Even if it’s just on a consultant basis. Imagine starting out in this career and sitting in a room with this guy telling his story from the heart. I think it would be enough to prevent at least some folks from making the wrong choices. Anyway, as many have said before me, I wish him only the best going forward. He’s paid the price. Don’t let life break you bud. Edit: I originally commented while still watching. Glad to hear HMP have actually approached him.
That’d be so helpful
Excellent suggestion!!!
He said at the end he was working with the prison service to train new officers, its a great idea

@Jordan Belfort Why ask a question if you already have your own opinion mapped out? I don't know what side you are coming from (prisoner or prison officer), but I doubt you have witnessed ever single gaol, and every single prison officer conduct themselves. I, for one, am not corrupt, and find the individuals that are disgusting.
Respect. We get too many trainings that are most easily described as 'death by powerpoint'.
I really respect all the interview subjects for sharing their experiences, it takes a lot to open up and talk candidly like that knowing that millions will see it. I think this series is helping with showing different perspectives which encourages less judgement
Glad he found redemption after all the challenges. Real life challenges 😔. Hope his story can help others.

What an amazing transformation. Well done for this.
I actually like this lad. Respect and honest about his intentions. You can tell he has a good heart. It happens in the prison system AND out, more than you think. Officers who are vulnerable get manipulated and the money draws them in and it gets to a vicious cycle. He made a mistake, he admitted to it and yes he has paid the price for it. @@Threemore650 every country has corrupt prison officers. They have been known to rape (prison officers having sex with an inmate is legally rape) inmates, mistreat them and do terrible things. "Can't do the time; don't do the crime" that doesn't mean that inmates should be treated inhumanely. British prisons can be very tough. Many inmates are locked up for 23 hours of the day. Britain’s prison record is currently, like its public health record, among the worst of any country in Europe.

This is very close to home for me as I found myself in the same situation last year. No one will ever understand how stressful working the landings are unless you actually do it. Any other issues in life you have while working as a screw get magnified and snowball into something worse. I did my time too and regret everything I did but it gave me a whole life lesson and I’ve come out better from the other side. Respect Lee for speaking out and redemption will come. “None but ourselves can free our minds.” 🙏🏼
He's a good guy who started out just trying to help people, and seems to want to help people. I don't know about in the UK, but it makes you wonder about the types who actually do stick with the job over time. I know here in the US I haven't heard the greatest reports. I imagine a total thug might be able do deal with it over time, but not necessarily the type of person that would help anyone else on the inside.

Not another screw on the take on here? Respect??? Wot for? You'd think you'd want keep them kind of things to ya self. How anyone can have any sympathy for ya is crazy. No one made ya be a screw n to be truthful ya got be a sick individual to leave ya family for 8-10 hours a day n sometimes 7 days a week to lock another human in cell n then think u goin get job satisfaction. Cheers Scott my mate x 👍
Its insane. They are so so manipulative. I worked in a kitchen and there was so much competition to see who could make me fold first. Sex, drugs, phones, outside contact. Luckily another inmate let me know they had a bet, plus multiple family members have been in for 20 plus years, (aaand my type of guy is more of an acoustic guitar player so i don't really have an attraction to any of them) That didn't surprise me but what surprised me was how well they knew me despite the fact that I tried to be the same with all of them. If i had a bad day, they knew no matter how bad I tried to act like i was okay, they that i was upset. THAT creeped me out.
@@Noise_floorxx It’s exactly that. They know when you are on your lows and you need help/attention/affection and they will most likely use that for their own gains. They will make you feel important, exceptional. Hopefully you managed to not fall in their traps. Can’t say the same for a lot of people unfortunately.
Gee literally
In what way is being asked twice to break the law for money and deciding "yeah, why not" being manipulated? He got away with it the first time, so he did it again. That's what criminals do. He's no better than any of them. He's not a victim of anything but his own hubris.

Ask him how he feels that New York city and state corrections officers with four years on the job and work fifty hours end up making roughly 110k before tax ... Not trying to blame anyone else or point fingers. He's using his shame to hopefully improve the coaching prison officers get. Can't help but feel like good things are coming his way. Good luck to you, sir.
Thankyou Emily my dear for your message 😘 . Fingers crossed it stops someone from making the silky mistake I did . Xx lee
You are most welcome, darling. We all make mistakes, but not all of us choose to use them to help others. That speaks volumes. Even just speaking so openly and with vulnerability, as a man, you are giving an incredible message to other young men, not just prison officers. Feeling shame is okay. Owning your mistakes is okay. Asking for help and forgiveness is okay. Your openness here will go further than you realise. Xx best of luck to you.
He deserves loads of respect and seems like a decent person.
He is a great public speaker
One of the best minutes with episode on the channel.
Cheers bud z
Great interview! Love your show!
Cheers x
I was an officer for a year. The best thing i did was leaving. The training was as he said powerpoint production and nothing really on conveying contraband other than its your own morals that will stop you doing it and the threat of 10 years. The officers i worked with were so self centred and in their little cliques that its no surprise that some officers would do this.
(Ignore my name sorry) I did a small stint of 2 weeks in Durham prison for a drink driving (failed probation, charity work hours of all things 🤦♂️) - is it impossible to apply to be a prison officer with this on your record? Thanks a lot B
Cheers Kyle for backing up my view 👍
No feeling like seeing a new video from you guys
Good for him, this is actually a really nice story to hear. Sure he may have made ridiculous mistakes while he was a prison officer but hearing about how he rehabilitated himself was a pleasure to hear.
Thanks Ash appreciate this 🙏
icl i think this is a systemic issue that pressured him into doing this. Notice how hes mentioning a lack of support that is in place and that he was on 18k a year. That aside in the situation of the guy who wanted to call his sick dad, im sure many many people would have taken up that offer
much respect for that man!! honesty and selfreflecting, wish u the very best! I just got home from a 18 year bit so I know how it goes...
Cheers buddy x
Hooe you are well x
@@pablodavies414 lot of ajusting, lot of new things too learn. But yeah Im doing ok Thanks for asking!
This is a good dude! Respect brother! Good luck on your journey through life
Cheers kidda
Well done Unilad once again. And good luck to this fella. He seems pretty squared away despite (or because?) of what he’s been though. Good luck Lee and thanks for your insight.
Much appreciated 🙏 take care
Big respect for actually talking about it like madness we all knew it happened but to hear it from the horses mouth fair enough...
Thankyou x
Your still here, takes a strong person to get through it, Well done 👍
Thankyou x
Fair play, Lee for your transparency, honesty and turning your life around. "Let he without sin cast the first stone!"
Thankyou xx
I was looking for todays video and it just fell in my lap 😂

Great interview, he’s made mistakes, paid for it but importantly looks to have had a look inside himself and tried to come to some sense and peace with it. All the best to you Lee. A job that does not get anywhere near the pay that it should. You’ve got a lot of life experience already to pass on.
Thankyou for your support x ❤

Poor man, you can see he is still struggling with some of the past. Hopefully he gets the help he needs and has lots of happiness go his way.
Not too bad now to be fair . Was very ill on the day if filming with sinusitis but had committed to filming. Thanks ❤
@@pablodavies414 nooooooo way!!!! Wow, I can’t believe you replied to me. I figured since you had a past alcoholism and had a very flush red face. You might have still been dealing with some demons. That was wrong, I jumped the gun. I’ll definitely fix that comment. Thank you for commenting. I’m glad you’re doing better. I’m sure it was a very very difficult situation. I was a heroin addict and I’ve been clean for 7 years but I still can’t get over some of the things I’ve done. All the power to you brother. They should hire you as a speaker for prisons. I think you would be able to help many people
@@markunknown6507 cheers bud appreciate that and for your kind words I was struggling that day pal and the lights were intense as well as being slightly nervous but as long as it stops someone from doing similar I'm happy x . Take care mate stay strong
I can’t say enough how good these episodes are.
Thanks x
Glued to listening to his story, he’s earned a subscriber in me, that interview was amazing. Glad he has managed to turn his life around, props for being so open and honest.
Thankyou x the full story is on KZhead mate 👍. Take care
@@pablodavies414 I’ve got the Fighting Trolls podcast on my watch list, watching the Shaun Atwood one as we speak. Story is truly amazing, hope everything works out well for you, your story deserves to be heard. More power to you, take care of yourself also mate.
@@Ziggys93 cheers bud 👍 appreciate this . Have a good one
He's spot on with the emotions you experience while in prison and life afterwards. I did 3 years and it's crazy how much I experienced the exact same feelings as him. Mentally I was strong while incarcerated, but upon release, I collapsed. I'm trying to get back to where I was right now. It's overwhelming to put it mildly. Only been out for 2 years and honestly some days I feel like attempting to take my life again. Damn.
I wish you all the best in the future pal. We're all human and bad things happen in life. There are always good days to come so stay strong and as time passes... It won't be easier but you'll be able to handle it better. 👍
hi, I hope you are getting some help to support you through this and I'm sorry it is happening.
Keep Strong for yourself nobody else
Happy New Year fellow! I hope you're keeping well and I hope this year brings you good fortune 🤞 Keep a keen eye out for new doors that can open. There will be plenty. Like most of us it's going to be a hard start but spring is around the corner 🙂👍
Yours is probably no different than his experience, why not give him a call. Start a group that might be the start of something better going forward. Suicide is a way out but it's final if your lucky. You could be left a cabbage in a hospital bed if not successful. Imagine the only thing working is your mind and you have thirty years of that ahead of you with no way out. Trapped in your guilty mind rewinding day after day. So easy it can happen, that's the gamble with suicide. Listen learn avoid. Good luck. 👊☘️
I was thinking of things to comment, but at the end all I can say is that this interview is amazing.
