This house is slated to be done by Fall 2020. We're aiming for a 7-month completion, although it's been a year process to get to this point! In the end, it will all be worth it. Airbnb link coming soon ;)
Did the plot already have utilities or did you have to pay to bring them to the property?
Cool, what area in LA is home located?
A 800 sq feet house for 225,000 i would not pay that much for that house it to small and the guy is telling you that is cheap but what he is not telling you thar he riping you off. That house is not worth that much .you can buy a normal size house for that much.
@Robert I am 100% certain you could not find a house of this caliber, in Joshua Tree for less than $350K.
@@Robuilt We are seeing area comps north of the 62 of around $350k-$400k. So yours being south and so close to the park, surely would sit around $450k if not more. Also Rob, can you share utility connection costs? Asked a few days ago above...
Please do a deep into the building process and the costs breakdown (getting the permits in joshua tree, the costs of materials and furnishins), and a deep dive into the airbnb business! That would be so helpful!
Ok, I think I just may :)
@@Robuilt these are the videos we want! subscribed!
There are other videos that have discussed this - A few years ago, if I recall correctly from the video it was around $50K before they could begin construction - but I think that was because they had to run electricity and connect to water, plus cost of septic. Here is an old Reddit thread discussing the subject: www.reddit.com/r/JoshuaTree/comments/8kql2y/buying_land_in_joshua_treebuilding_a_small_home/
prices in joshua tree rent and house market has gone up cause of this air bnb business which is a bane for us locals. Then covid hit and all the people from everywhere comes in to party in these air bnb's. I wish you guys build air bnb's in Montana or North Carolina or something. We have suffered enough!
Prices in California are wild. I know because I live here. We purchased our 5 bed, 3ba house, with a huge pool, about 20 years ago for in the SF Bay Area. We paid $125,000. It blows my mind that this little one is almost twice the amount. 5 years before buying our home we purchased a Duplex, also in the SF Bay Area, for $69,000. We sold it for $350,000. It's now worth over a Million. I love living here, but housing is absolutely INSANE.
The dollar loses value every day thanks to the federal reserve.
Yep I can build a house. I would never pay these prices. I missed my time. #vanlife.
@@PaintedCavern Sorry I couldn't hear you over the printing machine.........
@@jdizzle6324 😄
It's a major problem because many working class people who have lived in the area for generations can no longer afford to live there. It's all because greedy developers buy up properties for cheap and replace them with expensive elite housing that most people can't afford. Too many American cities are moving in this direction.
Great video! Two things: 1) Really appreciate the transparency on costs. That's really helpful. 2) The general AirBnB tips were super useful. Excellent info!
Thanks, Andy! I am always a little nervous to reveal that sort of info, but at the end of the day I believe transparency will help others take the leap into tiny and small home building. Thanks for watching!
I agree!
You should make videos that talk DESIGN of layout, kitchen, windows, floor selection, etc. and associated costs! Also, you're great on camera! Keep up the vids. Just subbed.
Great to see a Latino get ahead, building smaller homes, rather than those typical California monster homes no one can afford to rent, etc. You lead the way and others will follow. I like Casa Miraposa. I hope you take advantage of solar, especially in Joshua Tree.
Rob! Awesome work man, appreciate the depth you go into and the pure honesty behind what you do. Kudos ✌️
Love your content!! As someone interested in real estate and home building, these videos are so helpful! Thanks so much! You've got a new subscriber!!
I can’t wait to see it finished. It’s going to be gorgeous.
Amazing job and glad to see the ton of effort you put in is paying off. Besides the business part building cool houses like this must be so fulfilling and your enthusiasm and great attention to details show. Really impressive. Thank you so much for detailing the design, the process, and costs. Super insightful. I’ve watched the two other videos showing the $72K and $165K houses and was curious about the software you use to model your designs.
WHO is looking for an AIRBNB in Joshua Tree?!? Beautiful build dude!
Many people, It is a beautiful place to visit. Seeing the Joshua Tree National Monument is Amazing and the stars at night can't be beat in the desert. There is also a well-known Yoga retreat there once a year.
You can collect rain water coming off that roof into a tank, use that to water any plants you plan to add.
@glockumollie true I just check very little rain fall yearly.
I love you and the way you break everything down..I live in New Jersey and real estate investing is my passion. I’ve recently(past 3 years) got into tiny house living.. Keep up the great work! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
These videos are so professional!
Another great video, truly can’t wait to see the kitchen and furnishings. You are inspiring.
You build beautiful small homes..I admire people that work hard and build their business from the ground up and are successful at it..good continued luck with your business and I look forward to watching more of your videos. 🌈👍🏼
Beautiful! I can’t wait to see the finished tour!
Looks awesome! Can’t wait to see the final place.
I love all of the windows..its just gorgeous
Nicely done vlog; good energy, helpful info you shared. Your energy and passion comes through! I see improvements in your video takes and editing. No doubt you are learning lots from doing this. Appreciate you taking us on your journey!
I can't wait to see the finished look!!
Did you ever consider outfitting this house and the other Joshua tree house with solar panels?
I’m so so so inspired! Also, I love that I may be helping you by liking, commenting and watching a few in a row!!! He he!! I’m so happy for your success in these AirBNBs and your KZhead success! Loving it!
Can’t wait to see the finished home! Great job so far! Beautiful home!
Thank you so much, Karen! It's always a little scary to design homes and pick out more "out there" finishes. But so far, I am really digging the vibe and hope you enjoy the finished product. We're getting so, so close :)
Gave you the "like" when you asked. Gave you the sub at the end; awesome walkthrough with the financials at the end. Looking forward to hearing more about your journey.
This guy is so likeable❤ Instantly had to sub. Cant wait to see the final product.
Great video Rob! Super helpful info for someone planning to get into Airbnb. You mentioned a breakdown of costs- would very much like to see this!
That is a nice house. I would put an entertainment stand with a built in electric fireplace, witch would have electric flames instead of real ones, and you don't need wood or to have to open a flew. Showers are nice that you can step into, instead of over a tub. The carport with the side door is convenient so that you can park in the shade and go directly into the house from the carport.
Love this! Thank you for sharing this. It helps me and my husband a lot in understanding Airbnb. I can see your passion. Just subscribed can’t wait to follow your journey.
I have an STR cleaning business , and i've got to clean this house about a year ago, house is actually beautiful inside, kitchen was amazing, this is only a 2/2 perfect for an str for small for a family..so close to the entrance of the park..pretty Good!
Congratulations, this is wonderful. Great job on your vision and construction
Great work!!! Love it
Just found your channel -- beautiful designs. Love the exterior architectural design as well as the interior finishes you've chosen. Can't wait to see how you finish this one inside.
Welcome, Jacqueline! Thank you for the kind words, and I'm super flattered that you like my small home. I am posting an update on this home later this week!
I really enjoyed your video. It was the first one I have seen of you. You did a great job.
Glad to hear someone say clerestory like that- I think it should be like that but some people say "clear-story" odd.
Love these builds!! Cant wait to see the final product!!!
Soon, so soon I promise! My other Joshua Tree tiny house is live as we speak. Video coming soon!
Cute design! The bathroom tile choices are pretty epic, but HOLY CRIPES that's essssspensive! I may have to come stay here when it's done! Gonna be gorgeous! 😍
Super good coverage on your build. THANK YOU so much for the build and projection details! This is an incredible body of work. I'm looking to get deep into STR's very soon with my twin bro. So these vid's are amazing!
Man, thanks so much, Jon! I truly appreciate it. What stopped me from jumping into the game for so long was analysis paralysis. So if you and your twin brother have decided you want to do this, I think you just need to dive right in! You won't regret it. It has been quite gratifying for me-especially when people leave nice comments! Thanks again for watching.
@@Robuilt Awesome! Yeah, I actually bought my first property at 26 in Torrance. Renovated a little little bit myself and made a good amount on that property. I started a failed business following that. Getting into STR's if very strategic now with the opportunity Airbnb can give. I really love how you have immersed yourself. Look forward to your content and thanks for replying!
Stumbled cross your channel. Greetings from Texas. Loved the video. Thx for creating your content!
I love the long videos. Thank you
Wow! How exiting Rob! I wonder of I could do at least a little bit like that
Rob - I love your channel and am going back to watch your older videos. They’re great! Those beautiful clerestory windows are awesome and just flood the room with light. It’s pronounced Claire story (like the female name, long A), btw. Keep the great content coming and thanks for sharing!
amazing tile, beautiful colors
Love Love the windows! Beautiful place.
dude your stuff is dope AF, keep it up
Very nice build and presentation. I am a local builder here in JT since 1983. Parker Concrete & Const. and bobcat service. I live up in the Highlands, and watched your amazing build. You picked some of my favorite contractors for your project. We too are in the vacation rental business as well. Great place, for long term investments.
Wow very informative!! I like these videos and how you explained the cost and profits you make, thank you
Thank you for these informative videos. They are very helpful in the areas of research and forming ideas.
Best of luck on your project!
Beautiful is the Butterfly House 🥰
Rocking it!!!!!!!! Brilliant!!!!
Excellent job!!
Nice design very spacious and a lot of natural light. Look forward to more. All the best from Fiji.
Would love to see a video on how you got started. Your first project. And Would love to see one on what you would do if you were starting now.
beautiful tile!
so stunning!!
very nice uncomplicated home . looks modern and comfortable
Yo, Rob I think your channel is gonna blow up :) keep up the amazing work!
I love this!
Enjoy the content, looking forward to seeing more. Can you discuss how your airbnb’s are doing now during the pandemic?
I am actually releasing a video tomorrow that goes more into detail about how this property has performed during the pandemic.
You need way more subs! This channel is a hidden gem
This Mariposa loves your casa Mariposa! Really 😎 cool!
Well done. Congratulations.
It looks interesting I'd like to see a repost when it's furnished!
I like your come up, I'd love to hear more about the design permit planning process, a deep dive there would be cool
I love tiny houses and first saw your "vlog" haha about your LA tiny house. Immediately on to this video. I can't believe your channel only has 1k subs, your def gonna blow up with this kind of quality content. Love the way you describe everything. Been trying to save for property to build a tiny house and love your style. Keep up the good work man!
Man, I really appreciate that Jake. I try to step up the quality with every new video that I post. Hope to see you around the comment threads more often!
Wow. Crazy to think it's only been a week since I had 1000 subs. Thanks for following along!
@dmilo27 ok Karen
The windows that supposedly featured the view that you can appreciate while taking coffee are set high up you'll have to stand while taking that cup of coffee to see it and if you're on the petite side you might have to stand on tiptoe for it.
Awesome tiny house!
this is the second video i see from your channel and you just earned a new subscriber. its pretty cool what you are doing. I have a lawn service business and i have a client who is also doing Airbnb and i wanna get into it if you could go over more into detail even tho i also have him to talk to but i wanted another person to talk to. keep up the good work your channel is going to take off.
Thanks for the sub! I truly appreciate the kind words. If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to ask :)
Thank you Rob! It feels good that your hard work paying off.. I know AirBnb hosting is and the thing u mentioned about 1000 hours is true.. keep up
Built in Murphy style beds would have been a nice addition to the small bedrooms.
'that was a lot of information! Very informative & it gives you a lot to think about.
I absolutely love this video and I'm subscribed! Could you consider a video about the interior design choices you make and the variations you mentioned of how much you can charge based on how much you invest in the details? You mentioned this space as a tiny home, could you make a video for how you approach building tiny homes (sizes, bedroom count, bathrooms, etc) but still create an experience that's worth booking? Thank you so much for creating all of this visibility into your process! I look forward to your future content!
I love those suggestions! I plan to do a more in-depth series covering a lot of what you mentioned! If you are curious about the financial component of my tiny houses, be sure to check out the "Economics of building a tiny home in Los Angeles" video that I just released :)
Can't get my head around why construction costs are so high in the US. That house would cost less than $40k in Erbil, Kurdistan to build. Aaaand I love the house not to forget
The only way to keep the costs down is to build most of it your self and do all the finishes yourself too. My cousin built a 4 bedroom 4 bath and a 3 car garage for 380k last year but her and her husband and my dad and other family members all helped out for free to get it done. The floors, painting, trim work, installing kitchen cabinets and bathrooms all with out hiring some one. I would estimate she saves 150k on labor alone. Its the cost of materials that is insane in the us.
regulations can greatly add to costs, especially in California
I love my home in JT. 33 years. Now I'm surrounded by Air BnBs. Thanks a lot.
Great video and great project. The style and finish looks exceptional. I’m about to start a tiny home project in San Diego and have nailed a could ADU’s to date. All fun vacation rentals as well! Keep it up man! If you’re ever around SD I’ll show you what we’ve done down here.
Did I miss this one?! How did that happen? Man, you're killing it with this house!
Yes the cost breakdown would be great! That would distinguish you from so many youtubers. It's like an entrepreneurship channel
Best of luck to you. I am from the area and by April it is 110. By August it is 115-120 degrees and still 100 degrees at midnight. Wintertime is beautiful though.
Beautiful house! It doesn't seem like a tiny house. It's going to be a great Air B&B. 👍😊
New subscriber here! I came here from your tiny house vlog, which was amazing. You really have a great sense of design and I am ultra impressed with how you present yourself and your business. Can't wait for you to drop Air BnB link.. I see a visit to Joshua Tree in the not so distant future. I could totally use a break from the craziness in Chicago.
Thank you so much for watching, subscribing and most importantly the kind words! My other tiny house is currently live on Airbnb in Joshua Tree. Video of that one coming soon!
Awesome video! Would also love to hear how much these things cost: engineering, permitting, utility set up, contractor, consultants, carrying costs, decorations/furnishings, professional photos, all other costs other than the obvious ones you’ll be calling out. Also, how do your monthly costs break out: principal, interest, insurance, property taxes. Also, how much will you be planning to set aside/spend for repairs and maintenance?
Amazing! ❤
Looks like a place I’d love to stay. I was curious what you did for a living/ at school before you started doing small home builds? You know a lot of info that isn’t just common knowledge. Keep up the great work. ✊🏼✊🏼
Very talented🌴🌴
Would love to see the finished build and also videos on how you got started with this. I want to do something like this.
Great video! Very informative and to the point on the possibilities of revenue from an AirBnB!!! Thanks!
Another video request would be how you got started doing this? How did you find the revenue to start these projects? Also, if someone wanted to volunteer to assist, just for the sake of learning (for free) would you be open to opportunities like that?
I would have gone with black trimmed windows and black and white interior if I were having you built my house. I think black and white interior would give an illusion of more space IMO :)
Nice job!
Love your home projects. Curious if covid-19 is having any effect on your business model and occupancy rate.
Cleaning costs will also be about $150 each time, so $1,200/month minimum, plus utilities like you said, home supplies, etc., you are looking at another $2K/month. My house is right up the street and I make about what you do, so gross earnings are pretty spot on, but there are a lot of other little costs other than just mortgage.
Hey dude! Just found your channel and I think you provide such good insight. I'm planning to buy a single family house this summer and turning it into a house hack.
Dang dude you hit the lottery with this home like 5min away from a trail cool. You’ve inspired me to one day own a small home/ tiny house and have it as a Airbnb.
YE FELICITO MUY HERMOSAS !!!! BENDICIONES!!
*Wow that’s a great investment and great return on your investment👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻*
You're killing it. Curious as to why you chose Joshua Tree for your next builds and why you're going with airbnbs over long term rentals also writing this halfway through the video so if you answer this later thanks in advance😁
Great job.
Talented and comical, just the kind of fellow to learn from.
That bathroom is amazing!
Aw thank you! So far, people are really digging it and boy oh boy am I relieved haha.
Great video ...Thanks for sharing all the details
Thank you, Samadhi. Always nice to hear when someone enjoyed my content. Hope to see you around here more often :)
