@@LCWork No, because I didn't expand the POD product selection. I only have a handful of products that pick up in sales during the holidays. I would say this is a good start but you have to keep adding and trying new products. Cheers.

I work a full time job but I want to try this as a side hustle because the economy in the US is pretty scary right now. Mark always does a good job laying out the steps to get results. You have to do the work though. You can't wish money into your pocket.

I'm actually in the process of implementing this business model right now. i thought it was a unique idea lol but apparently its common. but with this particular business I'm focusing on the advertising to get firsthand experience. also, if you don't want trademark issues it is possible to source a graphic designer that tailors your art to exactly how you want it. although you could be putting down more than a hundred for the initial designs.
Mark, Can you do a video recapping all of your passive incomes you have created? I have watched your channel for a long time and would like to know how all the digital products you have created over the years are doing? For example the "Strike it Rich" Journal. It brings me immense joy to witness his name appearing frequently in comments, a clear indication of the commendable work he’s been doing.
The hard truth is that most people will fail this. A lot of people see it as a 'get rich quick' plan, those won't succeed. And others who do put a lot of time - and money! - into it, will mostly still struggle and give up. I'm a POD seller for 3 years with both an Etsy and Shopify store, and i'm working more than my previous fulltime job (only take free on Saturdays, although i still do customer service on Saturday evening). But i'm my own boss now….

And if so, will they buy from ETSY or the other laughable sites? OF COURSE NO. They will walk in a local store, get the job done, print the tshirt, wear it ONCE and then toss it away. This is not something with high demand, and all those "GURUS" with nothing else to create content on, praise the printing on Demand like is some gold-mine or something. Huge sales you see on those stores, are form self-orders through some money-laundering process. You will never be reach following what a Million other people are doing. It took me a while and a bunch of books to understand this.

I actually just spent 3 hours setting everything up, designing my very own t-shirt and design just to realise that I am not old enough to start selling on etsy because I am 14 years old.
While I agree with you on a lot of things I left him a like even though I disagree with him on not stepping outside the box and just going for creating your own products he's just discounting all people from being creative. Like I believe tie dye camouflage could be the next big thing but until it's proven its just potential.

I thought this would be crap and you're just getting the bag so to speak. But actually Gelato is easy to use and has a lot of different products. And fairly good customization. There are some useful features behind a paywall that other sites give for free such as mockups. But in fairness you can create and sell a product without an initial cost, exactly as you said.

Hey Mark... not completely sold on whether or not you really do have a successful POD business! (one that makes money) There are a lot of things you say in this video that is not true to reality and certainly not in my 7 years of experience. Gelato seems to have influenced the reason for this video in a big way. What I do appreciate though is your 2.4M subs! Please don't use your influence in a deceiving way!
What are your misgivings with gelato? I’m just starting, I’m not artistic at all but working on designs, and I hate that they don’t allow a large space on the shirts. Everything has to fit in a small square box and it’s very limiting.
Oh, also the fact that everyone promoting gelato forgets to tell us that you have to pay to use the mock-up studio so you can only use the basic image they give. It sucks.
@@Nillybilly Gelato has its place depending on the products you choose. Personally I just don't like their practice as of late in using influencers to promote their services. It's obvious who really uses them for a legit business partner and who is just getting paid to say what they say without selling a single pod product!

Thanks for your videos! As a designer who draws all my own graphics, it’s becoming harder to compete with AI. Hi mark, great videos. I have been watching the print on demand one, but have always wondered with that and some of the other side hustles, what are the tax implications of doing these? As have always been wary of starting these and getting stung tax wise
Very simply, you'll pay income tax on your profit. The other side of tax is sales tax (otherwise known variously as VAT, GST, depending on where you're selling to). This latter side is the more complex side and can be affected by where your POD supplier is, where your customer is, how much you sell to a particular country/region/state in one tax year or how many items you sell in that year. Professional advice is essential. If you sell on Etsy, sales tax is taken care of for you.
Thank you for your video at the end you mentioned that one of your competitors you waited for them to sold out and then you sold your product with a price that you wanted who is an idea how about you make a video about all the tricks that we could use whencompetitors try to compete with us unfairly because I think nowadays no one runs out of product. They can easily resell it. It’s digital.
Do you suggest building a large collection of designes and listing in bulk, or design/list one at a time as they are ready? I feel like creating a routine to knock off a handful of designs a day in your spare time would bring you to the recommended 1000 different product designs in about a year, at which point you list them. This would cause you to be in the mindset of "This is just a hobby I enjoy", sort of like drawing. Rather than beating yourself up in a demotivating way when you don't see the sales.

Really helpful video, but there is one thing I am struggling with. I have created Tshirt designs on Gelato, but I want to use different mockups to the ones Gelato offer. Is there a way that I can upload the mockup images I want to use within Gelato, and then overlay my designs on to those images rather than those offered by Gelato?
I'm curious about taxes and stuff like that I remember once when I was buying stuff from alibaba and they mentioned something about tax and I didn't know would I get billed and by who and how much would I have to pay for taxes
