  • 7:30 Bird mitigation. This is common practice at functioning airports. Predators will make the local bird population avoid your construction zone and landing/launching sites. Good for the birds and good for the function of your airspace. One falcon won't put a dent in the population but it will keep them away by a zone around the space.

    • Birds are not a problem. These rockets don't have fans that birds can harm. As long as vents are covered birds are just fine.

    • @@knowledgeisgood9645 Bird mitigation is also used for keeping nesting birds off tall structures. SpaceX do have a lot of tall structures, that they probably don't want birds nests and bird droppings on.

  • Starship catching. My suggestion is, would it be a good idea to pick up the starship loaded with the landing fuels lifted to the tower's maximum height? Then start the landing engines while held by the arms, then when the hover has stabilised, release the arms, hover around a little and recatch with the arms and recovery?

  • Flying Falcons in an area like that helps stop birds nesting nearby, this can be a concern if they are a protected species as you then have to stop work until the chicks have fledged. Far easier to persuade them not to nest nearby in the first place as well as there being less debris / mess to clear up.

  • I think it would be great to hop a booster from the launchpad into the catching arms. If the booster can hop, not even clearing the tower, and maneuver itself to the catching arms and have the catching arms grab it and put it back on the olm I imagine that such a test would give a lot of valuable data on catching the booster. Whereas if it would go wrong there is valuable lessons to be learned there too. If they can successfully hop the booster multiple times catching it after a full flight would mostly be an exercise of avionics or balistics which is by no means easy but it would make the odds of success a whole lot better if you already knew the hover and the arms would work.
