Spurs & Pochettino fan here. Great analyses. Pochettino has grown immensely from his experience in Ligue 1. Chelsea in 1-5-2-3/1-3-1-3-3 looked vulnerable to LFC’s press but as the game progressed I saw a glimpse of Poch’s DNA, energetic and fearless young players, activate in the second half. I am looking forward to seeing how they progress throughout the season.
Poch couldn't even win all his seasons at PSG and was fired.
@@KTK44 Same as Ancelotti, Blanc, Emery and Tuchel. And guess what? Enrique will join that list on day soon too.

Was waiting for this🔥🔥 what a tactical battle
This was a game where Mane was really missed. His ability to run box to box, helping the defense to frustrate attacking threats and running deep into the final third would have caused huge damage to Chelsea's defence. Luiz diaz needs to watch clips of Mane and learn from him. He even has the ability to do even better. The failure of the first line of attack to defend contributed inmensely to the pressure on Liverpool's defense. Robertson was rendered ineffective as he was constantly leaving Reece James to help the CB, giving James so much rooms to operate freely. Liverpool's attack operated below capacity making sily mistakes by giving the ball away too quickly in a counter attack was another leverage Chelsea had to retain possession. This infuriated Klop, forcing him to take a hard decision to remove Salah. Gakpo should have been retained as his false 9, the idea to use him like Firminho behond the front 3 was good but the execution by Gakpo was poor and i believe Klopp must have learnt from this. A Curtis Jones should have been used for that role instead. MacAlister and Szobo too were played out of position to fill the empty position of a No6 which limited their ability to unleash the monster in them. On the other hand, Chelsea soak the initial pressure and were lucky to be 2 tto 3 goals down. They regained confidence as soon as they got the equalizer. Enzo Fernandez impressed me for the first time he was the big man in the midfield. Gallagher too transformed all of a sudden to a beast, he took good advantage of Liverpool's sudden lack of traction in the midfield to terrorize Liverpool's defense. However, the handball by Jackson in the 18 would have never been a subject of debate if Anthony Taylor awarded Liverpool a penalty and that would have ruined the game for Chelsea. The two teams gave fans in and outside the stadium a good value for their money which is why we enjoy the Premier League.
Diaz doesn't have the physique and power of Mane, but he does possess plenty of heart and lung-busting runs once in a while.

Great great overview! Well done!
Very good analysis! What I would say is that I would prefer Gallagher in Chukwuemeka's role since we needed a bigger goal threat, more proximity to Jackson and his pressing would have shackled Macallister. However, Chukwuemeka had a decent game
Keep Mac Allisters name out of your mouth african man.
Enzo playing deep reduces the damage that he can cause with his passing skills so Pochettino pushed Enzo higher. You know Nkunku is injured, right?
No definitely not where he played is exactly where we needed him in that caicedo role with his energy chukwuemeka played really good for his first game against liverpool
Chukwuemeka is a much better dribbler, passer, and can receive the ball in tight area much more better than Gallagher
I feel if Caicedo comes, he'll form 3 man midfield with Enzo and Gallagher

Chilwell is going to be playing high and wide all year. I'm very excited to see Chelsea play in a 4-3-3, because Gusto (he didn't do very well offensively against Liverpool) played very well all preseason. Gusto, when played as a RB, as opposed to a RWB, is very effective and allows Chelsea to play more effectively through the center of the pitch. This is because he essentially functions as a security blanket for Chelsea's right side of the pitch. Disasi played great, and he may very well be Thiago's replacement in seasons to come, but I think Gusto with a back four makes more sense for Chelsea as it allows them to have more control in the midfield with a player like Santos or Caicedo (!!!!!) slotting in as the holding mid, which allows Gallagher to push up and do what he does best with his pressing, running and work rate. If Gallagher is our holding mid, it's going to be a long season, because he's not the most technical. Gusto allows us to put another attacking player on the pitch, I'm surprised Poch didn't go to a back 4 when James came out, replacing Disasi with Santos. I don't understand why Chukwuemeka is preferable to Casadei, Maatsen or Mudryk (??maybe) in that position, but he is, for now. Honestly I'm just pissed they got rid of Casadei. The guy is going to be special. Dude's got skill, vision and spirit. I don't understand why Chelsea wouldn't keep him. I know they have dead weight in Ziyech, Odoi (who could honestly play Sterling's role on the right hand side, so maybe not dead weight), Lukaku (again a good player, bad PR instincts, but good football instincts, might be locker room cancer tho), and Sarr (needs to find his level), but I'd much rather see one of them go out on loan or Hall, Beach and Badiashile (I just don't think he fits what Poch wants). Casadei is a day one starter or rotational player in my book. So pissed Chelsea got rid of him. He was one of the players I was most looking forward to seeing in the prem, this season. Maatsen should have started over Chukwuemeka. He's a good player and I rate him, but I would have preferred to see Chuk go out on loan, or be part of the bench for Chelsea rather than a day one starter, in order to put a fire under his butt. He kind of has the feel of a really gifted player that needs more adversity to get the best out of him. If he can learn to play with Gallagher's motor he'd be an ideal fit for that 8 position, but he's kind of got a Kai Havertz sort of game where he's not the most impactful in front of goal and he doesn't necessarily always pick out the right pass, but he's trying to paint abstract art on the pitch without materially improving the team. I want to see more fight and focus from him before he earns a spot as a starter.
Chuku is great with his first touch and play in tight space especially on that left inside forward. He can link up well with jackson and beind direct. That's the reason.
@@footballfan5048 I agree that Chuk (Chukwu) has those qualities. Maatsen, Casadei and Mudryk also have those qualities and give you more going forward. Chukwuemeka should not be a day one starter, he lacks something Maatsen, Casadei and Mudryk have, fight, desire, grit, even vision. That is why I would've like him to go out on loan, OVER Casadei, because Casadei exudes all of those qualities.
@@bohansenboh I was surprised and disappointed as well why Casedei goes on loan. Maybe because he refused to be in the team as a 2nd choice. He's definitely is a very good backup for Enzo, he's just sometimes still losing ball to pressure.
Stop pretending common players are very good players that can make a difference.
@@stnbch3025 Nathan Ake is a common player. Cole Palmer is a common player. Raheem Sterling hasn't move the needle at all, imo. Romelu Lukaku hasn't moved the needle. Levi Coldwell is a common player. Up until last season Moises Caicedo was a common player. Trent Alexander-Arnold isn't a common player, but if you don't know how to use him your team will suffer. Craig Dawson is one of the best CB's in the league, no one rates him, but when you put him in a line up he improves your defense. Honestly It's great to have great players in your side, but greatness is earned, not given. There is a reason CR7 is playing in Saudi Arabia now.

Liverpool should have gone 442 in defence with the wide midfields in the half spaces Poch is using his spurs 343 . He needed a player with poise and pausa in the RHS(Eriksen) to deliver quality balls. Starting Jota instead of Gakpo as a 9 was not the best idea, Gakpo would have generated spaces in the central zones since he likes to drop deep. This would have created a foot race between SalahvColwill and DiazvDisasi to access the central zones. Also, Nunez needs to start on the left wing to take advantage to salahs crosses to the back post. Apart from the Goal, Diaz and Jota failed to take advantage of his crosses
Okay pep
I too felt Gakpo should have started as 9 instead of jota and Jones in LM as we have no one and he is currently playing well .
Felt gakpo touch at times was shocking

Hey @FootballMadeSimple can u make a vid about barca vs getafe today? It was a vey interesting tactical match. Love ur vid btw 🔥
Towards the end of second half, Chelsea did tuck in their wing backs to be inverted midfielder. Probably a trial of Poch but it did look interesting.

The Game showed both Teams needed Caicedo .. if he was with one of them .. the Game might had ended in favor of the Side that had him .. Gallagher and Macallister did well but Caicedo would do better for each side .. congrats to Chelsea 🎉
Enzo & caicedo at the centre of midfield would possibly be the best midfield duo in the league 😮 Both are young & talented . They seems to be hungry to do better at what they do . With no european football distraction , chelsea could easily challenge for the title 😳

I think Chelsea played well today. My problem with the first half was having gallagher in the lone 6 role. He is not good on the ball and not good when players are running after him. Enzo as well was fantastic.
Spends a billion just to play well and finish 12th. Enzo is mid. Overrated scumbag who should have been red carded.
Yeah and that’s why Caicedo is a HUGE signing for us, Gallagher is better around the other box but did put a solid defensive shift
I think Poch did that because it was either our 19yo VERY fresh signing in Uku, or Andrey Santos who's had preseason but is also 19. Probably just went for experience
Nice one
Excellent analysis. However, being the first match of the season could have impacted on each other's tactical deployment.
A No6 would eradicate many of the issues frequently faced by Liverpool in their current setup; I'm a huge Liverpool fan and although Bajcetic is an exciting talent who can play as a holding midfielder, the pressure may be too much. We need a much more experienced individual who can teach Bajcetic how to operate in a two, or as a lone defensive mid 👀
Liverpool should have switched to a back 3/5 and gone man for man in defence then then Chelsea’s wing backs wouldn’t have been such a problem
What program do you use as the tactics board ?
Be on the look for the link between Enzo, Sterling and James... if they click, they can really batter opponents.
I had no clue what was that pressing idea from liverpool, half the time it was the 3 forwards pressing the 3 centre backs and the midfield 3 trying to cover the chelsea centre mid 2. Trent and Robbo were caught in 2 minds whether to press james and chilwell, or drop to cover for the wide runs of jackson and sterling. Either way that pressing shape played right into poch hands
I feel it would have been much more effective to switch tactics and adopt a 4-4-2 shape, ignoring diasi as he is the weakest on the ball. This would force one of chelsea's front 2 to drop infield, leaving only a 1v2 upfront. It did not help the pressing shape that liverpool suddenly seem clueless on how to press
Wow Man … you are a genius
Chelsea goals kinda looked like Trent not holding the line
Chelsea needs a no10 that can do what Nkunku does the likes of Felix or Olise should be brought in. And Gallagher needs to learn to pass the ball forward more often. Chilwell should’ve made some direct passes into the final third Cucurella was missed for that aspect. Levi needs to tightly close down wingers so he doesn’t get caught out with a pass or run in behind. Poch tactics did show a lot of improvement from last season’s Chelsea then a proper six is signed to help Enzo operate better… spot on with the analysis you put out for the game 👍
The mgr doesn't want Felix
@@RasenRendanX maybe so
Can you speak on how the Elliot, Jones, doak, Nunez subs helped Liverpool in the final 15minutes?
i think poch tactices fit the team buh he has play on a more high level and pressing in between center backs, to create spaces for the wing backs to operate
Liverpool defense is really shaky, need to buy RB and CB or Buy 2 CB who can play either cb or rb or lb. Also Liverpool attack really relying on Salah maybe ther should trust Luis Diaz more so the play not easily read. For Chelsea the defense is already solid for a transition team, the only need a proper striker and a better CM, the structure really good. Importantly chelsea GK really important on how they play
Didnt mention how good was enzo in the game..showed great ability to survive liverpool press
Great video…I would be grateful if you look into PSG games now since their under Enrique now and a slight favor, could you do the analysis for Arsenal vs Brighton(3-0) thanks.
Was a great, even match but I don’t think it’s a really good indication off how these teams will play going forward. Liverpool will almost certainly sign a new number six which will allow them to have more possession, and pochetino still needs time to implement and adjust his system at Chelsea.
Could you do one on Newcastle vs Aston villa ???
Now imagine caicedo in Gallagher's position
Chelsea really miss Nkunku in this game .. he would’ve punish Liverpool with is creative and link up unlike Sterling who just dance dance around
Fr
Chelsea 4-3-3 vid now that we’ve got Caicedo, Enzo and Lavia????
Klopp is used to trial an error against the big opponents, Playing Gakpo in the middle against a team like Chelsea was very crazy, I wish he had played Gomez at right back and shift TAA to the holding role whiles Gakpo operates as number 9 , this TAA role as 6 when attacking and 2 when defending is useless when we meet teams like Man City it leaves the back vulnerable. currently Ibu is the only reliable defender in this Liverpool set up. Im also of the opinion Bajcetic will do a decent job as DM when fit.
Liverpool needs a midfielder to cover taa when he pushes up konate did a good closing space but can't keep covering for him all season
Very interesting. Agree about Liverpool playing deeper due to the lack of a six. Also would've liked Gakpo to get a run at cf since he's so much better with the ball than Jota or Nunez. But then everyone's better with the ball than Nunez.
Nicolas Jackson was good! 👍
so fastttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think klopp should play with a more attacking style dropping Trent into midfield if we get lavia
I never believed Chelsea tactically outclassing Liverpool.i saw surprised for poch upgrades over kloop
Your ratings were the same as mine, these guys ain't so bad , it's gonna be troublesome for city to win this year.
@footballmadesimple will you be making tactical analysis to laliga games, preferably R. Madrid and Barcelona ?
Normaly he only does about el classicos or against atletico madrid
This game was encapsulated by midfielders who never stopped harassing and hustling. Fresh change, instead of seeing old birds being run to the ground and walking around the park.
I'll give Poch an 8 due to the fact that about 5 players in the line up didn't play for Chelsea a year ago, and 4 (Sanchez, Colwill, Disasi, Jackson) just joined / came back from loan and still they pretty much outplayed LFC. I'll give Klopp a 5 for his tactical tweak in the second half. Genuinely believe LFC will lose if Salah played the whole 90 minutes so credit to Klopp for having the guts to sub off his best player. Both teams badly need a DM though.
do Atleti vs Man City
Gallagher is amazing player he play in the middle between defence and attack 🔥🔥🔥🔥
While I feel like Chelsea have clearly improved, I think it's hard to say how much they've improved when Liverpool were so bad defensively and tactically all over the place. The spaces Liverpool give up is criminal. Both teams will be exposed defensively even if they buy a good 6, as there are clearly issues with their defending as a team. Klopp doesn't seem to know what to do with his team. They're in an identity crisis. I think it'll be a decent season for Chelsea and a poor season for Liverpool. They both need more than a 6 to solve these problems, these are long-term issues that need to be given time, coaching and better players.
Klopp played lot of players out of position and that's his bane.He also admitted the wide spaces after the game saying they were dropping instead of stepping in
Glad to be the first viewer😊😊❤😂
I'm serious when I've said we've had the SAME problems in this team since wolves in 2021. Too slow on the attack, we take 3 seconds too long to take the shot EVERY SINGLE TIME. By then we get found out by the opposition after 30 mins and struggle for the rest of the match. It's insane its been nearly TWO YEARS. I'm really starting to question Klopp and Pep's tactics

Chelsea has no serious threat going forward, solid defense and midfield though. IMO Liverpool should start Nunez, hd can do so much damage with Dominik
Sterling abd IQ in one row please dont 😂😂😂
Klopp needs to look at his defensive shape, it’s very ineffective. He plays a mid block and a high line with Van Dijk who is a conservative defender. It’s never going to work. All Chelsea had to do was have their wingers leave the touch line, fall into the spaces behind the midfield (esp Virgil’s side) and they had time to do whatever and Chelsea will always have more numbers too. Van Dijk must become a destroyer for this defensive shape to work. 2nd half was even more disappointing from Klopp. When Chelsea started pressing high in large numbers, all Klopp had to do was revert to 2020 Liverpool. False 9 Gakpo and fullbacks not inverted but hugging the sideline high up the pitch.
