  • Awesome project I would add 2 limit switches & run it to a power supply. With the limit switches you can push the remote once (if you have a latch setting) so it will run until it hits the switch & with the power supply the batteries will run only if the electricity is off like a battery back up.

  • 1. Power inefficient system as it runs on battery and takes alot of power and time for a lock or unlock. 2. it seems not strong against breaking. 3.the use of hot glue and joining material at mechanical parts is inpractical and will split away soon enough. although i like the way you thought the screw idea, motor, etc

  • Having built this project I have to say that it works ok except if you wanted to program it’s functions. Another important thing is that when left both batteries connected overnight they were discharged. Now I don’t have a capacitor across the motor. I built it exactly as described could someone point me to a remedy for this battery discharge? I’m using the mode for the remote controller where if a button is pressed, the motor will stop once released

    • You guys are missing the point of the video and harp over everything that doesn't fit with how you think it ought to be. The issue of the hot glue can be easily addressed, so too the slowness of the bolt. If we could only see the bigger picture which is how you can actually make a remote lock. With technology all the parts can be improved. Why not make a useful contribution by suggesting how this can be acheived instead of knocking it down.

  • Eh, so many problems with this I couldn't have one in my home. Plus, the god awful music made me think of this being one of those sort of knitting and "life hack" things.

  • I like your project & well. As I am looking for one, same as this for my backyard chicken house, its little far from my house but walkable only. So I am searching one automatic door open/closer with timer unit for daily run !! Daily opening door at 7.00 AM & closing at 7.30 PM. Please suggest, if you have any circuits please.

  • You have to be close to the door for wireless remote to work! It's easier to open the lock manually!

  • The only thing I would do different is instead of gluing the battery to the board I would have glued the battery connectors to the board. That way I could replace the batteries. Otherwise pretty nice.
