  • Good pointers there Luis. Though I thought there was some contradicting things at times. Something that caught hard was, why was the 2nd 1 step shot “really good”, you said it was good “because of timing” when did we work on that?

  • I enjoyed your video, Louis. I'm one that always bowled with a slight curve but mostly straight. So I've been watching videos for the past 3 months on how to throw a hook, as well as the proper techniques from start to finish (aka footwork, body posture & position & releases) but find myself missing a step or two on most throws. Realizing that improving muscle memory through repetitive practicing techniques is essential, as is unlearning bad habits that I'd picked up years ago. Self discipline & learning to be patient when I find the simple practice techniques tedious & boring (such as the ones in this video). There's a reason I'm unable to throw hooks well enough & consistently and it's because I haven't focused enough effort in the pre-bowling warmup practice techniques that you're teaching us. That all changes today & I'm looking forward to a 2nd Video to follow this one. Thank you for keeping it simple when that's just what the doctor ordered.

  • Definitely a great video now I was just practicing here at home. My problem is sometimes I don’t try to spend the ball by this try to put some speech/ref behind the shot and I sometimes try too hard and that’s how I gutter that’s part of my inconsistency my friends are trying to tell me the suitcase/shaking hands method, I like their analysis but for my autism and fine motor skills it’s a little challenge the fourth suggestion, professional, you guys talk about is what it’s more about being behind the ball. That’s what I wanna do do you need to slide? Here’s my opinion about that my fear is, I’m afraid someone’s gonna fall and hurt and the proof is in the pudding. I was bowling with one of my uncles. He did slip and fall when he slid onto the lane. He was OK Thankfully. I stopwhen I got to the line for that reason.

  • As someone who is looking to relearn how to release properly, I like this video and hope to see part 2. One question, as we are releasing up the back are we relying on the coverstock and core in the ball to provide the hook rather then trying to spin it ourselves?

  • I am 72 years old and I throw 16 pound balls. I take a 5 step approach with virtually no sliding. Two years ago I had a 204 average. Last year I ended with a 199 average, first time under 200 average since 1971. I know the house had to get a different oil.(no choice) I have no problem throwing 16 lb balls. Does new oil make that much difference. Other bowlers are also having issues also. Thanks Dean

  • Luis, when you lift the ball off the ground, how do you keep your hand behind the ball/fingers under the equator without excessive grip pressure? Obviously, some grip pressure is necessary, but where should you feel it? I find I have difficulty keeping my hand behind the ball without squeezing, even after having my fit checked. You always hear how you're supposed to keep your arm and wrist muscles relaxed throughout the swing, but how do you do that while simultaneously keeping your hand in the correct position to release the ball?

  • The video shows you throwing off the back of the ball like a yo yo. But your last 2 shots where you get the curve you are turning your wrist inward to get rotation. It is not a full suit case type throw but you do turn your wrist inward. Can you elaborate on this in your next video. Thanks
