    • I was lucky to be down there and catch it starting up. Pretty awesome to be around Airbase GA. You never know what coolness you will stumble into.

  • As a child in my motherland, mes amis, I read the memoirs of a chap who was a combat pilote of one of these in WWII. He claimed that the Flight Manual stated that the glide-characteristics were SO poor, that if the engine stopped, you should bail-out (if high enough) ... OR 'Whistle A Happy Tune and Kiss Your Ass Goodbye '! ... because a 'dead-stick’ landing was very iffy.

  • Oh my word! such a wonderful bent wing metal bird. This is another super hot rod of the sky. Favorites of Squadron leader Major Gregory "Pappy" Boyington "Black Sheep Squadron". Very lovable by Vought Aircraft Industries. Superb Marines and Navy bird. Wow!👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️❤️

    • Thank you for the reply. It really is a flying work of art. The sight, sound, and smell of the airplane in operation are the closest thing to a time machine that I know of. I hope you can come by and see it in person someday. Airbasegeorgia.org

    • @@P61guy61 Hello from George again. I forgot to ask did you guys restore or built it? Either way it's a great Aircraft one of the many best of WWII.I love many of those Aircraft. Oh how much I would love to see face to prop and wings so to speak. It would be an experience. I've been to about four Airshows here in Australia but don't remember ever seeing a Corsair. I've touched a Skyhawk and was able to photograph as much as possible also a F18 Hornet. There's more but this message will become a Bible. I'm a modeller just average and I have so many models of the Corsair one that has the s checkerd markings on cowling and tail just like in this video. Sometimes I look up who the pilots were. That's how I know of Major Gregory "Pappy" Boyington and the "Black Sheep Squadron" and I do have decals to do that version. By the way if ok to ask all Navy and Marine Aircraft what is the overall blue colour? With models it seems to be all kinds of colour suggestions. So is it Sea blue or Midnight blue? Excuse this long message but it's amazing speaking to actual Aircraft people. I can't even begin to imagine the feel of flying that great Corsair Hot Rod. I thank you for replies I'm grateful. And it's a pleasure. Keep em' Flying!. If my fortunes can change if love to visit.Hope to speak again. God bless. George from down under Melbourne Victoria Australia. 👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️❤️

    • @@P61guy61 PS from George again. You're right I believe as you say it's like a time machine and the smell of the engine as it runs and that sound is a wonder. I actually plugged headphones on to get the feel of that sound. Thanks again. From down under. Australia.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️

    • @@George-pp2hr yep. Only a purist will notice the smell and sound of a warbird and truly savor the experience. The Corsair shakes the ground when it fires up and fills the air with the smell of horsepower sweat heheh.

    • @@P61guy61 thank you for reply. Agreed. I can only imagine what it's like when it starts up. I think I would like the smell of that exhaust shoots out. I envy very much. Wonderful metal bird. The wings are awesome. Well the closest I'll get is my many model kits of different versions. My thanks. Excellent,👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
