Captain Phillips & Extortion 17 with Terry Houin | Mike Drop: Episode 65

2024 ж. 14 Мам.
532 349 Рет қаралды

The story of Captain Phillips and the sniper operation that saved his life and rescued him is one of the best our country has. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Terry Houin, one of the deadliest men on the planet, and who was one of the snipers on that operation. We talked about his amazing 26 year career as a SEAL, primarily spent at Development Group in the SEAL teams.

    • Terry, I remember being out at the island during 4th phase, didn’t class up with 189. Seems like I was in 4th phase forever, got multiple stress fractures before class up. Glad they got rid of that long pre-training but, little too late for me. A lot of regrets but, congrats to you buddy. Sounds like you had an awesome career wish I could’ve taken advantage of that timeframe. I know it doesn’t matter now but, at the time I wish I would’ve classed up with 188. That was immaturity but, did you ever look back and wish you were in a different BUDs class?

  • I’ll never forget learning about the Extortion 17 incident from my mom while I was on my second tour with 1/6 Marines. We had just finished a rip with 1/2 or 1/8 guys in Trek Nawa (Southern Helmand) and it was all over the news in the States. She thought it might be related to us, but I cleared that up for her. It was as much of a gut punch for us as it was for Team and DEVGRU guys. Coincidentally a lot of the guys are buried adjacent to one of my brothers at Arlington. I give them a visit and pay my respects every February, while attending the memorial of my boy. 🇺🇸

What happens is the thought process doesnt involve reality. Your thought process always includes whatever your mind is focused on most the time. You will connect everything with avengers or chris Hemsworth because youtube and everything else. I dont watch any movies and I dont listen to pretty much any music. Because it's all a bunch of bs that's being used to dumb people down and hyper sexualize our society. Which is getting worse and worse every generation. At this point.
