Anyway its not exactly fair to put them up against the 92 team which had 2 of its best players out of their primes (Bird and Magic) before 1992 there was no Olympic squads with NBA players so we'll never know what really could have been if we saw what the 1988 or the 84 squads could have been like.

    • Vizual Racing Where’s the joke? If each player is playing by their prime form, 2012 has a major edge. Way more skilled in many areas and their ability to play defense is much higher simply because the knowledge on defense was much better compared to 1992 where zone was banned but hand checking was legal. Incorporate zones and ban hand checking and the 2012 team most likely bans the 92 dream team.

  • Watching only the first few mins so far China is stunned by the USA defense but despite that China is nailing a ton of threes and long jumpers to compensate for not being able to get near the basket. There shooting skills are impressive compared to the other countries teams I’ve seen the dream teams play. All of the Chinese players are hitting a lot of tough jump shots regularly with ease so far.

I think a lot of people forget that when Jordan first retired, the NBA was looking to Penny Hardaway, Shaq and Grant Hill to be the future faces of the league. Its cool to see Reggie Miller in here too. He's a guy who is really known for his clutch shots, but he's really one of the best defenders of all time too. Lenny Wilkins has it so easy. • And could beat the starters 5 xs out of 10 or more I'd bet. Stockton was still elite, gettin rdy to go back-to-back finals. Plus rich , pip, mailman, admiral...would be hard to beat, esp if rich is shooting good

    • Malone, for instance, was considered a better player than Barkley at this time; the debate between the two was over. Malone was All-NBA 1st Team a record (until LeBron broke it) 11 straight years, while Barkley made the 1st Team five times (from 1993 to 1996, Barkley made two 2nd Teams and one 3rd Team, while Malone was 1st Team every year from 1988 to 1999). And Richmond had already been All-NBA 2nd Team by this time, while Miller only wver made the 3rd Team (Richmond also made more All-NBA Teams overall than Miller). Which indicates how arbitrary some of these lineups are. I especially like this backup roster better for defense: Malone, Pippen, Robinson and Stockton all made multiple All-Defensive Teams. Pippen not winning a DPOY is a travesty. Meanwhile, though Payton and Hakeem are great, great defensive players (Payton having just won DPOY, while also holding Jordan to 36.7% shooting in the final three games of the 1996 Finals), Hill and Barkley never made an All-Defensive Team and were certainly lesser defenders than Pippen and Malone. All that said, these lineups would change from game to game; so, it wasn't as if this was a set starting lineup for the 1996 DT. For instance, when this team played the Select Team in Detroit the starting lineup was Stockton, Miller, Hill, Malone and O'Neal.
