  • When you are young, and your body is strong, you take for granted doing otherwise simple task like standing or even as simple as standing in place. Then, you reach your fourties, it you suffer a back injury. All if a sudden you come to the realization that your back holds you upright, and allows you to do all the simple and difficult tasks that you once gave little to no question of your ability to accomplish. After nearly thirty years of doing manual labor, I felt a small pench in my lower back. As in the past, these small pinches would seemingly disappear as quickly as they appeared. This time the opposite happened. The pain continued to rise until I couldn't do anything to release the pain. What was once simple tasks like balancing on one foot, became an impossibility. That is when my mortality really became "real". Watching this young woman balancing this way inspired me to share something that no one shared with me before my body let me know that 40 is the real and actual middle age. It was a real shocker for me. If anything, build your back muscles and keep them strong.
