  • I've been watching these huge eagles , vultures , or buzzards , my eyesight isn't what it use to be , for roughly a month now . Today it was warm and a little windy due to an approaching storm . Saw quite a bit of birds out today riding updrafts , downdrafts , and thermals , so very active . One bird rode a downdraft to almost the bottom of a huge pine tree on the outer side of the woods and I guess cause the pine tree was so huge the limbs were so sparse it flew straight up parallel with the trees trunk and came out of the top of the tree . Never seen one do that before ; that was so amazing to see it come from the bottom of the tree then shoot out of the top of a tree like a rocket . It actually didn't come straight out , it had a little bit of a rotation so I'm assuming it was rotating and meandering as it climbed the tree .

One day he swooped down from the sky and started flying straight at me about a foot off the ground. I’ve got an eagle with a six foot wing span playing chicken with me when right before he gets to me he casually reaches down and snatches a large snake into his talons then flies right over my head. During Feb and March when the Crappie would enter shallow waters and streams to spawn, the eagles would snatch one after another from the water, fly to a close by, gravelly beach, take one bite from the belly of the fish (for the eggs) and leave the still alive fish for me and mine to collect by the bucket full. LOL! They were kind enough to do half of the fish cleaning for us! That's good old American cooperation.., Southern hospitality!
