"Fission" is a wood and resin piece inspired by the stories of Openheimer and the Manhattan Project. I just finished a history book talking about the whole period of time when the discoveries of the atom and its characteristics were being discovered and understood and how it culminated in the making of the atom bomb etc. I minored in chemistry and took physics in college before med school and these subjects are incredible fascinating, terrible and amazing all at once. The power of one atom....

Next time you revisit this, you'll have to try different sizes of wood doweling. This is such a great concept!

That would be an interesting feature in a doctor/dentist waiting room. As it turned patients would be occupied making patterns in their minds. To support your mould use glued strips of wood along the outer sides of the mold if using a deeper pour. It should help to keep it ridged. Even with perspex there is a risk of bowing even if the mold is small.

For your warped mold, what about making a square frame with wood and gluing the mold to it? That way your walls and bottom stays flat. I guess you would lose the flexibility though.

What an amazingly creative and interesting project!! It looks like you use the teak oil to polish the clear resin? I have never seen that done.

Great project for a great cause! I have a really small KZhead channel (Not under this name) where I make knives and do blacksmithing. I don't know if OUR would be interested in selling my blacksmith items (or if they would be of high enough quality to draw any money for OUR). But I would be willing to make something for donation.
