Project no.103 Diy Belt sander
Recent years, i built many kinds of Belt Sander but this is the most powerful and simple looking Machine,
This project comes with a 1.5hp induction motor, i used 6204 and 6205 bearing for belt rollens, and a Gas Strut for the Belt tension.
for the belt i used 50x686mm Belt Sander.

Reamed out hole, and hammered it onto 5/8 1 hp motor shaft. Used roller board wheel, for top tensioner. Works awesome. Very similar to this build here by mr Austria, belt is 2 x 42.

    • Putting the belt on the wrong way of direction it will always jam on the work piece There is An arrow on back of belt for direction. It's like riding a bicycle off the pavement it will still continue to roll good, but try riding it from the road onto a pavement it won't work. The join on the belt is raised, and so proper direction is needed

    • It seems like 105 +- diameter to me ❗ Thats the old 4" give or take.⁉️🤔 Too much direct pressure at too high a speed or direct plunging in with a too sharp object can cause belt to jump off or snap .commonly known by Knife Makers & placing you at risk of " Belt Rash" same as falling off a Bicycle at high speed onto fine stone path..⁉️ (Road Rash) safety precautions are of utmost importance...❗🤔🤦‍♂️

Bolt this on. This will protect anyone, anywhere in the shop. I can see it ....in the minds' eye now.....and paint it your fav color, GREEN. my color for some stuff, too, also baby blue. Good day, sir, your a wonderful builder, well thought out, and executed. i may modify a large hinge, for my 2 x 42 build for tracking, using your adjust method.
