Patriot act was the best show . The audience, editor and everything about the show was so amazing . If it wouldn't get cancelled , this show would have been so big by now.

@@Zhengrui0 I’m assuming it was cancelled because it kept going after the corporations and corrupt governments without hesitation. Netflix was worried about making waves, so they cancelled it. They should have stuck with it obviously, but as a company they had no spine

I watched one of his shows live in MA and he addresses why he had to step away from doing Patriot Act. Basically it was for safety reasons for his family and for himself.

Didn’t realize how much I missed this guy. Patriot Act was so good, should never have been cancelled. Glad he’s getting back on stage soon. You have been missed, Hasan!
Patriot act was so much fun. It felt like the John Oliver show but for younger adults. Shame it's gone but hype to see Hasan back!
Oliver goes after pre-approved, safe targets, that the corporately complacent, boomer-adjacent, are comfortable with. Minhaj exposed a lot of powerful folks deeply complicit in the systems of structural violence which afflict this world. Oliver is, ultimately, a not-half-as-clever-or-cute-as-he-thinks-he-is deliberate distraction& a hack. Minhaj paid for his courage. Oliver just gets paid to be a cockney sellout.
Yeah like Oliver but with cool graphics. The topics they (PA) covered were important and they were aware of their similarity to Oliver and covered similar stories sometimes (like about Fentanyl) in different ways. I really do miss it.
@@darinsingleton3553 Hasn't Oliver gotten sued for his stuff? I wouldn't say what you're saying. You should check out the topics he talks about.
@@darinsingleton3553 you over estimate the differences and try a bit too hard to talk Oliver down. They may target different age groups but they use almost identical recipes if you correct for that difference. And Patriot Act was not cancelled for speaking out, they too had to get approval for their targets, in what world do you even live? Look through the comments and you'll see that the show had a major shitstorm coming for it due to some of the producers not being good producers to work with. Studios/Streaming Services do not like to be sued for work conditions on their productions.

I have NOOOO idea why they canceled that damn show! I feel like he was telling too much truth for somebody! His was great through unbiased material! I hope they bring it back! One of the best pieces of content that wasn't rotting your brain.
Minhaj made a lot of powerful people uncomfortable. By directly exposing the systems of rot & structural violence, instead of just following easy, pre-approved labels and cheerleading for "the team;" Minhaj showed the world some glaringly stark realities .. CorporateWorld don't like that.
There were behind the scenes issues that Hasan was kept unaware of like sexual harassment and the creation of a hostile work environment. Eventually someone either sued or pressed charges and the show was cancelled rather than resuming in a fashion similar to the Daily Show or The Late Show. Whether that was orchestrated for the reasons given by the other respondent or not, I cannot say.

@@mahfuzahmed6215 Yeah, because you have access to Netflix’s proprietary viewership analytics I’m sure as well as understand how they assess impact value. Netflix won’t even back away from Dave Chapelle despite the controversy he’s generating in the mainstream media right now. John Oliver also says way more controversial things than Hasan’s show and been doing it for much longer. Hasan himself has admitted many times his show is derivative of Oliver’s. Once again, the simple answer is there’s too many comedy shows doing very similar expose-style segments: Daily Show, Seth Meyers, Colbert, they all do it to some extent. Market was too crowded and split viewership.
I just don't understand why people don't talk about Hasan Minhaj enough, he's INCREDIBLE. This guy deserves to be more popular than he already is! He deserves it all, man
I wish Netflix didn't cancel Patriot Act. How do we live in a world where your show is cancelled and but Jimmy Kimmel keeps getting his contract extended.
We really do live on the dumbest timeline. Someone as talented as Hasan should be getting twice as much recognition and yet here we are.

@@thehoneydeev a couple of the producers of the show were actually indian/pakistanis. After the episodes on indian politics and Modi they received huge backlash along with political pressure. These foolish couple of producers decided to side with the politics and shutdown the show. On the surface people assumed it to be Netflix cancelling the deal as the headlines for this went out saying 'Netflix didn't renew the deal' but Netflix had no problem whatsoever, they just didn't get a new deal to renew in the first place. In addition to this, these producers even tried to float false stories trying to defame Hasan personally, stating bad work ethic and stuff. Typical media manipulation moves. Quite ironic in contrast to the content of the show. It's not a case with just Patriot Act though, whenever entertainment will become too real, when entertainment will be actually informative, this is what it will have to go up against. Especially when it covers topics about India, china & saudia. 🤷🏻♂️

Hey Hasan, Remember you don’t need to prove anything to anybody. You’ve already made it. You’re amazing. I know we can always improve and get better and better each day, from here on in just have fun (but with sharp focus on success) and remember you only have to prove it to yourself, no one else.
Patriot Act Aside, Homecoming King was one of the best comedy specials I've seen. Hope the king's Jester is like that

I watched his show in Los Angeles and let me tell you…it was amazing!!! You can tell he’s been working on this for years. Every story was just so intentional and moving. I really appreciated the glimpses he gave us into his life ❤️

I honestly somehow missed the cancellation announcement of Patriot Act and I’m crestfallen. It was such an amazing and important show. I’m not Asian-American but I saw what a milestone it was for Hasan to be hosting and producing this type of show. It’s important to have different perspectives on the same topics. I’d love when both he and John Oliver would cover the same subject and I could really get a nuanced understanding. I’m truly sorry to see the show go and I hope it returns with a company who understands what a gem it truly is. Thank you Hasan, and your whole team, for the hard work and the wealth of information you gave us all with a much needed dose of laughter. I will go look for some tickets to your upcoming tour to mitigate this heartbreak.

SOOOO happy to see this! You were great on The Daily Show, and Patriot Act was one of the BEST SHOWS I've ever watched! I made EVERYONE I knew watch at least one episode.
I really appreciate this inside look at the creative process. As someone who’s not even remotely as successful as Hasan, knowing that no matter whatever level you’re on you have to “eat shit sometimes” is actually reliving.
I'm a stagehand, I was the light operator for his Homecoming Tour in Detroit. I met him, he is very down to earth and very nice. I wanted to work his show when he came back to Detroit for his new show, but sadly I was out of town for a Funeral. I heard from some of my friends in our IATSE Union say he was hilarious and it was a great show. I am very excited to see it. He is always a joy to work with.

Patriot Act was amazing! Hasan Minhaj, is just a humble and amazing and empathetic dude that, even if you're not Indian, its all relative and still hits on the beats, regardless of background! Much respect!

I totally agree. Ols keep making these kinds of videos. I think this is also something that people need to see - hard work. I know a lot of people who are feel hopeless because they think all the successful people they see are getting things easily but they themselves never be able to get anywhere. I think these kinds of videos that show the hard work that's put in will make them want to wok hard (it definitely made me feel like working hard) - like people with talent or influencers also need to work hard. Anyway, great thinking and best of luck.
I LOVED the show in October at the Chicago theater, it made me laugh, it tugged at my heartstrings, and no wonder it was so amazing, look at all the work that went into it… I can’t wait for whatever comes next…

My wife and I saw that first show back in Memphis and it was awesome! Clearly working on the flow of some of the bits, but the core of the show is moving and powerful. Thank you sharing your amazing journey and lessons with us. We can't wait to see the final special!

I went to his show recently. One of the first things I told my friends when it ended was that this was completely different to what he did before. I'm just one person and a lot of other people probably have different opinions about it then me, but I thought it was excellent. Can't wait until it hits Netflix next year.

I absolutely loved Patriot Act and Homecoming King. I wish that Netflix would bring it back! Awesome to see that you're going on tour, and it was really cool to see behind the scenes in this video!!
