While I can't take away from Bob's abilities, because he's a far better shot than I will ever be, he actually missed the balloon both times. The first shot was slightly to the left, and the second shot was about 8" below the balloon. Both times, the shrapnel from the impact popped the balloon, but he did hit the plate, which is exceptional, even more so with the snub nose.

It's the snubnose that makes it impressive. I shot handgun metallic silhouette in the 80s and the farthest steel target in the revolver categorie was at 200 metres which is 220 yards. We shot standing, with open sights and had to topple heavy steel targets. Many had similar handguns to Bob's a few had shorter barrels. My point is that the 44 mag shot is highly achievable. It's the snubnosed one that is exceptional. One way or another, I'm not comparing myself to this fabulous shooter but drawing a perspective to illustrate how difficult the shot with the short 38 special barrel is. Slower, more drop at distance, far less power and a very short sight radius. Many people have difficulty hitting a bullseye at 10 yards, let alone pop a balloon at 200. This is actually quite tame compared to many of his other feats. Bob Munden was a legend.

Mr. Bob took a tiny J-frame Smith & Wesson Model 60 Chief's Special, with a 2" barrel, and shot out a balloon "200-yards" away. He only used 1-shot to accomplish this feat-of-feats! A stock Model 60, with black rubber Pachmayr Grips, and at a distance many shooters with scopes on their rifle could not make. This man, most likely, is one of the best top3-handgun shooters ever.
Saw that when first presented on American Shooter. Got to meet him at a SASS End of Trail. Great guy.
Pretty dam cool Bob !!
Missed the balloon both times but even hitting the steel itself is impressive. 👍
Somewhere around I have an old gun magazine article with Elmer Keith on how he was shooting 500 plus yards with pistols. Keith actually filed elevation grooves into his rear pistol sights for long range shooting.
Incredible shooting
Bob's the best shot who ever lived. A true real life big shot.
Legend.
This guy was the greatest at speed and accuracy. He will never be matched
Bob is a legend!
What a legend
Fantastic shot
That last shot was mind blowing!!!
Certified Legend and badass
At my best with a LOT of practice, I shot 25 X-rings at 25 yards. Bob could have done that all day. The shots he made were unreal.
Old America is so awesome! I miss :(
Amazing!
Yes!!
As a full blooded latino, this is the American I aspire to be. God bless this country
Part of my Family ❤️ amazing
RIP Bob Munden...You are missed.!!!!
I'm not subscribed to this channel but I get a Google news alert almost every day about "shooting USA"
The bullet doesnt hit the balloon , it hits the steel plate and fragments, the fragmented pieces hit the balloon. So the target is the steel plate.
The legend bob
Wow that’s amazing
*Bob is my hero! (RIPBM)*
Outstanding, legendary r.i.p. big guy
Amazing !!!!!
My idea for the Alamo would be to go back in time and manufacture a multi barrel salvo gun whereupon one could rotate the salvo barrels; and while I'm at it take a set of flintlock salvo weapons back to the Battle of Oriskany where, an ancestor of mine was an Officer in the Continental Army of General Washington's and was almost killed there. I have seen this one by the late Bob Munden; spectacular shooting.
Damn good shooting!
The best that ever lived.
Sweet shooting!
Amazing shooting.
The best there ever was. Don’t think we’ll see one better.
The man the myth the legend Bob
😮 such precision😮😮
What a shot!
Well that was really cool.
He's a pro and knows his weapons.
Bob was amazing
I wish I had gotten to meet Bob when he was alive. He’s one of the reasons I decided to become a gunsmith.
& wesson?
