That 1930's game was epic ngl.
even in the 1930 the angle of camera was MUCH BETTER, than now, in 21st century
1930 got so much style i love it
I find the difference in spin, speed and style of play between the celluloid ball and the plastic ball impressive
I started playing table tennis at college, in 1961. There was this guy who used a bare wooden paddle, and he loved to hit the ball way high in the air, (like 20-30 feet) with spin, so when it hit the table it would bounce way off to the side. Oh yes, and when he hit a blooper that hit the net and just flopped over, he would call 'overies'.
this is the most beautiful game ever i really love
MEGA! THX for this! Great Video 👏👏👏😃👍
1:56 István Jónyer, Hungary - men's single world champion in 1975 in Calcutta
I love Mizutani and Xu Xin. They are great to watch
I was expecting Kreanga and Schlager to appear in this video but unfortunately they aren't. Nice video, so many great points to choose from in the 2000+ era.
latest from 2000 until today, the differences more depend on the specific player styles.
I want to meet the great Ma Lin 😭😭. I'll never forget that 2008 Olympic Final China Vs Germany
The angle is getting worse by the time I think , and also who prepared the video must be a real Truls lover...
Alsér and Johansson ❤
SAMSONOV🇧🇾
0:48 ...that body swirl after a 100% chance to win the point🙈. I exaaaaactly know how he must have felt although it happened almost 100 years ago 😅. At least in that regard table tennis has not changed much 😁.

Go go go Felix Lebrun 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I started playing pickleball a few months ago and have found it to be popular because it’s such an easy game to learn and master. I thought the game was going to be a smaller version of tennis, but it’s really more of a bigger version of TT since pure athleticism is secondary to quickness and touch. Anyway, at the top levels, PB is essentially in the 1930’s stage these days…it will be interesting to see how it evolves as better talent and equipment develops.
Ma Lin is the best ❤
Seeing this video has made me realize just how good modern players are compared to that of their predecessors. It makes me wonder what Table Tennis will look like Ten years from now😂
I noticed the “bottom” gets shorter and shorter. Guess, what is it going to look like 100 years from now?
It's crazy how the top players of the 1930s had very different techniques, to say the least. Amateur-looking by our standards.
amateur- _looking_ is the correct perspective, yes. Their techniques were driven by the lightweight, no-sponge pimpled rubber. Because with those surfaces, there's no payoff in throwing full body momentum into a (speed and spin) counter-drive or loop, there was no reason for wide stances, big swings and a lot of waist and core muscles going into attack. So everyone, except in chopping (and even then...), stood upright, and sort of smacked the ball around with their forearms and wrists. And you see a lot of weird dynamics with those arms and wrists. With little to worry about in terms of incoming spins of all kinds, their was little danger of mis-reading and mis-hitting a ball: you just had to worry about getting it back, whatever the stroke action or what joints were involved. A lot of the style was also driven by an emulation of Lawn Tennis of those days, where again, a lot of the top players were more upright in their stance.
it s not all the evolution because you forget forest gump
so my playing style is 1930 😅
it is sad to see as a penhold player that no one play with penhold anymore now.
Not many, but look at Dang Qiu and Felix Lebrun! They are both Top 10 right now.
its a pity that there not so much defence players anymore in the top
The table is too small, will be much fun if the table size doubles in width and length.
A table as big as the size you're proposing would drastically cut down the speed of the game and it would completely turn this sport into something totally different. Defensive players will have an advantage over offensive players. That wouldn't be fun to watch. The ball would have to be a little bit heavier so it can travel at a faster speed. The physics would completely change the game with a table that big.
Almost 100 years

Someone in the comment section says the techniques of the top players of the 1930's are (were) amateur-looking by our (today's) standards. And here's my response to that: That's comical. Because when I look at the techniques of today's top 2024 players, I can say the exact same thing . . . AMATEUR-ISH, but by MY standards, established since April 5, 2023. Yes, a new(?), but more advanced, versatile, and aesthetic grip/style/techniques is currently under development, courtesy of me, to challenge today's modern "Made in China" shake-hand/pen-hold ping-pong culture/techniques. When the time's right, WE WILL SEE if the table tennis community will welcome an upgraded version of this game . . . in terms of a new grip/style/techniques.
you could have just replied to them, also your comment is just a whole bunch of nonsense. Their technique does look amateur-ish and i dont know why you seem to mad about someone pointing it out.
@@No-ub5ju I've been commenting long enough to know that it's not wise to reply to an "ANONYMOUS" directly. Because they can always do a "DELETE & DISAPPEAR" when they think I've insulted or embarrassed them. And I don't take my time lightly. And as for you, another confused, no face, no name character who likes to call anything/everything it doesn't understand or like, "nonsense," I am not going to waste my time here, with you, either. Go figure out why, and then tell someone who gives an S.
@@cuongtkong58dang my bad mister pro commenter 😂
@@No-ub5ju No apologies necessary. If you can find your way in here, then you can find your way out. Right?
its like football they still playing with their feets and like baskettbal were they put the ball in the basket what are you looking for ? i think since the thirties a lot has changed..more than in other sports
Doping is not allowed today in 2024
Doping is not allowed in table tennis also today
