DON'T LET THE BELLHOPS BITE | Dark Deception Song!

In Glowstick Entertainment's 'Dark Deception' you must face your fears and find redemption through a series of terrible nightmares. Gathering the mysterious 'ring pieces' for the equally mysterious Bierce, her ballroom will send you into the depths of terror to face demonic schoolgirls, flesh hungry ducks and a hotel staffed by murder monkeys...
FINALLY.
This song has been sitting completed on my hard drive since mid 2019. Life happened, projects kept coming up and the opportunity to make the video for this one just kept getting pushed back. I am SO glad to finally have this video finished and to be able to share this song with you! (Also that the costume still fitted after sitting in a box unused for over 2 years)
When I wrote this there were only a couple of chapters of the game available and a lot less of the lore and story had been revealed so I chose to focus on the world of the first nightmare 'Monkey Business'. If you'd like to see me explore some of the other nightmares from the game let me know!
A huge thanks to everyone involved in making this a reality. To Liz for her help filming and for the environment painting, to oo Oxygen for the mix and going back to make tweaks to a song we finished over 2 years prior, to Random Encounters and Insane Ian for their cameos and of course to my fantastic Patrons!

  • LYRICS: VERSE 1: There's a cosy little place tucked away Between the third and fourth circle of hell Where you can take a break, make a great vacation Maybe take in just a little damnation as well So ring the bell - we're excited to welcome you in No time here to dwell on your sins Your itinerary's fairly heavily perilous but let me share the various amenities you're getting within If you’ve got luggage, the staff can take it through But the baggage that's emotional - well that can stay with you You've clearly packed a bag with plans to stay a day or two But it's pretty optimistic if you think you won't be strewn Across the floor, twisted and deformed little bits of blood and gore chewed and spit out of the maw Of a vicious set of jaws In a spiffy uniform All your sins have a cost But your death is complimentary of course CHORUS: It’s just monkey business But with one key difference That the one reliving it Is beyond deliverance We've got one piece hidden in Deep amongst these remnants Of our one-time residents In our little hotel in hell where the bellhops bite VERSE 2: We're afraid to say that the pool is closed Since the life guard started to decompose Down here things lurk deep below So stay clear if you want to keep your toes The continental breakfast will be served ‘til ten But nobody ever wakes up to attend ‘Cause if you lay your head on a bed you'll be too dead for eggs And you'll never eat bacon again Our gymnasium's stocked with the best utensils Though you ought to be running without the treadmill The bar is a haunt with all the spirits you want They were all the last guests to get killed We've so many amenities, no chance of boredom We both know you've already seen the ballroom A little reminder you've a riddle to find or It is frivolous fighting your doom CHORUS: It’s just monkey business But with one key difference That the one reliving it Is beyond deliverance We've got one piece hidden in Deep amongst these remnants Of our one-time residents In our little hotel in hell where the bellhops bite VERSE 3: Think twice before you use that phone by the bed Room service will cost you an arm and a leg And a torso, a stomach a neck and a head The menu’s sparse but the staff’s well fed We'll provide a device that might help you find the Shards you've been tasked with and hide from the nightmares But if you try to check the TripAdvisor You'll likely trip and die, sir Five stars, never a survivor We're not winding you up We're not letting you go Fish the mint from the blood pooling in the pillows Checkout is at one - not that you need to know Pay your tab at the front desk or death will be slow We strongly urge that you defer your day's ablutions The concierge will start the purge before you're through them Whilst on your journey on the way to retribution We hope that you enjoy your stay of execution CHORUS: It’s just monkey business But with one key difference That the one reliving it Is beyond deliverance We've got one piece hidden in Deep amongst these remnants Of our one-time residents In our little hotel in hell where the bellhops bite

    • I also enjoyed my stay quite a lot, the staff chased me to my room and stood outside my door the entire night so I wouldn’t get lonely. Was kind of annoying that they were also clawing out the door and screaming like banshees. Breakfast was amazing, all I could eat because I was apparently the only one there. However, on my way out, one of the bellhops ran up to me, cut off my hands and ate them. Bit of a damper on my review, 4/5 stars

The breakfast was a bit too sour but it’s hell so I’m fine with it and The paintings in the hallways where either abstract or just blurred due to running. 4/5 stars, the company was great but I really would have loved to take the time to look at the decor

  • To me, there are 3 elements that make a good Stupendium video; music, animation, and live-action. Most of his songs achieve high ranks in each of these, but this is one of those special songs that somehow perfects all 3, The song itself is catchy as hell and amazing, the animated scenes, as well as the monkies in general, look friking incredible, and Stupes pulling off the role as a demonic, yet polite bellhop, along with the miscellaneous hotel staff, are terrific. This song has instantly risen up as one of my favorites, and given I know diddly squat about the game it's based on, just goes to show how phenomenal this one is 😁 Also, love the Random Encounters & Insane Ian cameos, not only were they cute li'l easter eggs, but they give a sort of "Shining" vibe & it's oddly fitting Oh and don't think you could slip that Adam flask on the bar shelf behind ya & get away with it ol' STUPSEY-BOY! I also might be a bit biased because of it, but I also like it because this whole song reminds me of the Fine Print, with the whole "Welcoming our guests" part, the general vibe and etc. Great video overall, definitely one of your songs ever made.
