Suni Lee is one of the favorites to win an Olympic medal on the uneven bars at the Paris Games this summer. However, the American gymnast will have to bring her A-game, both in difficulty and in execution. Here’s a possible new composition for the reigning Olympic All-Around Champion that could challenge the best in the world right now.
Full-Twisting Jaeger (H) + Pak (D) + Seitz (E) + Bhardwaj (E) + Maloney (D) + Gienger (D) (+0.8 CV)
Toe-On Circle 1/1 (D) + Morio (D) (+0.1 CV) (+ 0.2 DB)

I hope she stays healthy, regardless. Kidney disease is no joke.
SAME! I remember Ksenia Afansyeva retiring from the sport only a few weeks before Rio 2016 because of serious kidney problems.
Indeed it is no joke.
I love Suni but to talk about her possibly getting a gold on UB is crazy, considering that she's not even a lock for the US Olympic team
And she hasn’t even competed a full bars routine since the Olympics. Since her comeback, she’s only had 1 or 2 successful beam routines. I love Suni but I just don’t see her making the team this year, though I hope she proves me wrong!
The bars code hammers her so much. I'm not very optimistic about her chance for bars gold, but I think she should be on the team if she is capable of high 14 on bars.
It’s crazy how fickle we are as gymnastics fans… quite frankly in this sport NOBODY is a lock until Trials. If we learned anything from Simone at last years Olympics it’s that even SHE can be beaten due to the high risk of injury (physically OR mentally). It’s still SO early in the gymnastics season let’s give these ladies some grace and a chance to actually show us what they’ve been working on. It’s not “crazy” to talk her winning gold - she’s the REIGNING OLYMPIC ALL AROUND. Bars is literally her highest possible scoring event not to mention she’s been battling kidney issues. Let’s wait until closer to US championships before we just DISCOUNT our greats… I hate that we always say stuff like this is gymnastics. In gymnastics NOTHING IS CERTAIN.
@@dominicVSdomoyup… saying anyone is a lock is kind of crazy at this point…
@@dominicVSdomo Well... it IS kind of crazy when she hasn't competed a full elite-level bar routine since 2021. And yes, no one is a lock for the team, not even Simone. We'll just have to wait and see 🤷🏻♂️
Suni has to show up at the next few US competitions and show that she is able to perform. So far, we haven't seen that. I totally sympathize with her health issues and I know how hard she had it trying to get her strength and endurance back, but she's running out of time to show that she is at least as good as she was in Tokyo. The US Classic is in two weeks, and only a few weeks later are the US Championships. She needs to show that she can perform a full rotation, not just look great in practice.
Exactly
If she can hit this routine consistently meaning US Classic, Championships, and Trials, Suni will definitely give the selection committee something to think about. She was doing so well at American Classics that I wish she would have gone for her routine there. She’s been training it, why not put it in front of a judge?
But she has to hit on all apparatuses. And we have not seen her do a full rotation in competition since Tokyo. Her BB score was lower at the Hopes & American Classic this weekend than she managed at the US Classic last year, and she's still only competing on VT and BB. So how much progress she's really making in getting her endurance back remains to be seen. If she can't do a full rotation at a lower-level competition like the Hopes & American Classic, then how is she going to survive Nationals where she would have to compete over the course of several days and do her routines multiple times?
For me Nemour is currently the best bar worker in the world
Her routine is already set, she just has to finesse the little details. So Kaylia has an advantage over the others, who are still trying to incorporate upgrades
She has to beat miss world champ, who beat her last year btw, yet (and BOTH scored already 15.4ish this year eventho Nemour did it with a harder routine) But yeah she’s looking absolutely AMAZING and will be fighting for gold if she simply hits. It won’t be easy tho: After all, like I said, she’s not the current best in the world on this event and the queen QQY still has upgrades in her bag -that once incorporated in her routine will be even a bigger challenge to Nemour.
Absolutely. No one else can get consistent international 15.3+ bars.
Agreed…. Currently if Neymour hits at Olympic finals the gold is HERS (just based on the difficulty and routines of her peers we’ve seen THUS FAR).
Suni Lee incorporated same elements in her uneven bars 👍
Yes, it could. If she can get it perfected, cleaned up & and minimized form deductions on some of the connections. I think this is actually one of her many routine compostions she's playing with, lol. And for anyone saying Suni can't put this together means you don't know her talent on bars and what makes her special on bars!
Without the Russians, her chances are good but 1st is making the team. Gabby is so consistent on bars that Suni is too risky to make the team solely on bars. The Tunisian and Chinese girl are already better than Suni
@@brandonaldaymachuse6669 Gabby fell twice on bars at American Classic today. That's not a knock on her, it's her first meet back in 8 years, she's got some rust to shake off. However, calling her consistent on bars based on her performance almost ten years ago is premature at this point.
@@erinm9445 It's premature for both of them. Until Suni actually competes on all apparatuses in competition, there is no way to judge just how well she's bounced back and if she can actually do this crazy UB routine in competition. Plenty of athletes do things in practice and never bring them to the competition stage.
@@brandonaldaymachuse6669Btw if you mean Kaylia Nemour, then she is from Algeria not Tunisia
YOU GO SUNI! YOU HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH SO MUCH AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE! YOU CAN DO IT SUNI!!!!!
You got this, Suni!! 🙌
Wow. Look at the efficiency. I think it will be hard to connect a Maloney after doing 3 twists in a row and already ping ponged twice. If she does a VL to Geiner, she'd still have a 6.8 and you are so correct, the extra few tenths Nemour has on her, she can make up in execution. Smart but super crazy routine.
I'm really skeptical that she can connect the Bjardwaj and Seitz out of the Lee to begin with. The Lee is the hardest skill ever done on bars, and unless the swing out of her catch improves significantly from what we've seen so far, I don't see it. A Pak yes, or a kip into the Bjardwaj/Seitz, but not all together I don't think.
I pray she'll stay in good health, as well, even make the olympic team, anything else will just be icing! GO SUNI!
I'm rooting for ya grl! ❤
It certainly is quite a unique routine!
I hope Suni crushes it! Still, I think when talking about the American team, we shouldn’t assume that anybody is already on it. For sure Simone seems like a lock, and Shi as well but Trials are probably going to be really competitive(like the most competitive ever?) and tough on a lot of gymnasts and us as fans. As far as this routine? Yea of course she could do it, I just hope what she chooses she can stick and that she can do the AA by US Nationals. It will increase her chances of making the team if she can do floor, though it doesn’t necessarily knock her out of contention if she can’t. There are just so many scenarios for this team!
Suni Lee is brilliant and adorable.
Minus the pak+seitz I think this is def possible
And we thought her last Olympic routine was stellar this is INCREDIBLE
Suni just took Gold at the American Classic on Beam beating Jade Carey. Just saying for all you doubters. Also, who here knew Suni was going to win All Around Gold last Olympic. No one May God Bless the United States of America. And, May God Bless Suni and give her Strength. Regardless she is a Winner for Not Giving Up on Her Dreams and for Not letting her Illness be an Excuse but a Reason.
You Go Suni!!!
My bet is on Kaylia who can hit all 15.3+ internationally this year. She did it almost 6-8 times this year.
Doesn't mean she will hit it at the Olympics.
It's amazing how short the routine is because of all of the connections.
Qiu Qiyuan just delivered a 7.2 routine in Chinese National competition.
It's a Chinese national competition not international
Six skill combo is wild
大変素晴らしい演技ですね!
Qiu made 7.2 today
0:36 Which one is more difficult, Seith or Komova2⁇
in the bars final first 2024 I think she can get 1st or 2nd or 3rd
Honestly, I disagree, don't think Suni Lee is one of the favorites to win UB at the Games, she has a lot of potencial indeed, but she's very short on time to reach the top level, and we didn't see anything of it yet in a full routine, we've been just adding cuts from social media posts... (but I also understand the need of the channel to please US viewers and keep engagement, etc, they're massive right now and most channels are going this way, anyways).
I hope Suni goes to Paris and gets UB bronze. I think Qiu Qiyuan Gold and Kaylia Silver. Just now, Qiu perfomed a routine with 7.2+8.366🎉🎉🎉
Sorry, this routine belongs to the Chinese Qiu Qiyuan. She is the one to watch in Paris.
she should add back in a nabieva somewhere
A stretch , but shes amazing!!! (:
é uma série linda, mas creio que não tem chance contra a Nemour, a africana ta voando
if she ain't getting good scores on beam and vault, she might not make the team
NO!
1st combo would never happen
One could have said Nemour’s currently UB routine combos weren’t possible 6-8 years ago…… but here we are. Never say never in this sport.
@@dominicVSdomo it's based on Suni's past performance. Also, Jaegers to Pak never has enough swing, unlike Tkatchev to Pak, to connect to another skill, let alone Seitz Neymour's prototype routines has existed since 2012 quad
@@Cheffamily My comment still stands based on all points you made. Suni is literally upgrading as we speak. She had a less than stellar Winter Cup debut.. other than that - again, never say never. It’s too early in the season to discount possibility of executing such combos. As pertains to the type of routine Nemour is competing… I never said they “didn’t exist” but they were RARE and few inbetween. So again, never say never - I think IF Lee wants to sell herself as an asset to the team the proposed routine is not only a solid composition… it’s not far out of the scoop of Lee’s ability.
@@Cheffamily Plenty of Chinese gymnasts have connected Jaeger to Pak, you can look up videos of He Kexin and Li Ya connecting them
@@dominicVSdomo It's really not that early in the season. The Olympics are 3 months away. US Championships are only a month away, and she really needs to have her bar routine set and be competing it by then in order to make her case as a bar/beam specialist (even if she's technically doing AA). When Kaylia debuted her wild routine, it was messy and took her a lot of time and practice to clean up the little details. Finally, Suni has said that endurance has been the biggest challenge for her coming back this season. That's no small thing for anyone, and especially for someone with a chronic health condition, and this routine construction, though short, is like an endurance sprint. Whether her endurance comes back enough isn't entirely under her control. I'll be pretty surprised if Suni pulls out the routine in this video, though it would certainly be amazing if she did!
Qiu. 7.2 now
Qiu already has a 7.2. next haha
I would be very surprised if she didn’t do the Nabieva??
She wont do the Nabieva if she does the Lee (the full twisting yager that she wants to get named).
Girl ik what the Lee is I’m literally a level 9 elite gymnast and I was just wondering if she was gonna add it just so she could get the 7.0+ D score
She was one of the best in 2020/2021 but now there are way too many good bar workers
What does that even mean? She is still one of the best lolz. Did you not see the video? Or the fact that she has a full twisting Jaeger? Yes there are several other great bar workers right now, but that doesn't take away from what Suni can do. If she hits strong in a bars final she absolutely has a shot!
She hasn’t really showcased (aside from training videos) that she can hit a routine in competition in this quad. It’s easy to chuck skills in practice but that podium training and pressure matter. I also agree with the previous comment about the F/T Jaeger to Pak, there is not a lot of swing out of it and her Pak saltos haven’t looked at polish. I think of Nastia coming back in 2012 and don’t get me wrong I am a huge fan of Suni but I can see a similar thing happening. Just being realistic.
If done perfect like perfect…. She def would win gold with that routine. She has to make the team tho and then we will talk
My money on $uni. If she healthy, no one will beat her. ♥️
She needs to stop the minor leg separation deductions.
You see that with a lot of gymnasts we see it with jade on every event
if she's healthy then watch out!!!
I just think don’t pull a Nastia and let your ego force you to make this huge comeback just to be on an Olympic team, that’s already stacked. Leave while you’re on top.
She has such beautiful lines and that toe point!!
She will have a hard time making the team as things stand now. There is still time, but.
Actually she doesn't have that much time. The US Classic is in less than two weeks and Nationals start at the end of May. I'm really surprised that we're still not seeing her competing a full rotation at this stage, because if she can't then there is no way that she'll be considered for the national team.
??❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊
Chance tem , o difícil é acertar, Suny sempre foi inconsistente em suas apresentações, geralmente é duas boas e duas ruins
nemour is my fav bar worker atm.. qqy's routine is kinda boring to me and Suni makes it look like she is in a rush with this possible routine
I love QQY's bars! Her I could watch her Ling/Healy/laid out yager combo all day long. But I love Kaylia even more!
lolz she needs to qualify first aha
D dismount should be one-tenth and E or higher 2 tenths.
I want her to make the team so bad but I’m not positive she will. She struggled at nationals a bit. It’s not her skill that worries me, it is proving after the time away, she can compete consistently in front of judges. She’s talented enough for sure and is an amazing gymnast. So I hope she brings her A game to the trials. If she does, she’ll make it.
Kaliya and Suni have too many form issues to beat Qiu Quiyan if the judges do their jobs, the form issues on the feet alone are worth over a point and Kaliya should be getting more because of that two-foot crater she has during her routine. Not that I expect the judge to be fair or honest.
even if she'd somehow pull of the first combo, the amount of deductions makes it absolutely not worth it
The Seitz is a massive deduction trap, the Bhardwaj slightly less so. The Komova 2 is definitely a better skill than the Seitz for the score
she’d be lucky if she makes the olympic team. lmao!!!
She hasn't even qualified to Nationals yet.lol
So? What's your point? That is not what this video is about, but thanks.
You're out of date. She just qualified a two-event score today.
@@erinm9445 So she can do two events, not the AA. Guess what that means, NO Olympic Trials. that beam score was cheating. She nearly fell twice. that score was impossible
@@kinsellawasrobbed7515 She's probably going to petition to compete in the AA, and given her history they'll probably give it to her. But that doesn't change the fact that she hasn't done a full rotation in years. Until she shows that she can compete as well as she did before Tokyo, I can't see her being seriously considered for the team.
@@ravanne3746 Did you see her beam? They gave her a 13,450 and she nearly fell twice (not to mention all the connections and cheated leaps) That score is impossible with what she did but the judges were trying to cheat for her. Aimee Boorman judged beam and I read a blog that said she welcomed gabby back. The judges are cheating for her so she could make the team if she hits. The scores would be even bigger cheats.
Shes not one of the favorites. We dont even know if shes going to compete in Paris lol. Qiu, Nemour, Shilese and Andrade are the medal contenders. And no one can take the gold from Nemour or Qiu, if they do a good performance.
She had the chance last time..Now its late
She can't make the team unless she is good on all 4 events. Gabby will take tha bars/AA position
Lovely girl but the Gold for Bars will go straight to the Chinese.
Honestly.. if Sonni dropped about 15 pounds her lines would be 1000 times better… that’s what gymnastics are about and if you want to stay competitive, then you need to physically be up to par with the others
The 90s called and they want their gymnastics body shaming critics back. PSA to whoever needs to hear it: gymnastics has changed, and rewards strength and power, not child bodies. Thank god.
Please keep your disgusting opinions to yourself. Gymnasts have literally been starved in the past to achieve the bodies you think are what "gymnastics are about". I'll take happy and healthy gymnasts anyday and if you have a problem with the way they look, don't watch
