Every Way to Cook a Hamburger (42 Methods) | Bon Appétit

While you can make a burger out of almost anything -- chicken, turkey, fish, plants -- most people think beef when they think burgers. Well, at least that's what Amiel Stanek thinks. He's here today to show you every way to cook hamburgers using chuck beef. You can't go wrong with a classic cast-iron skillet burger, but don't write off other... let's say less orthodox techniques, like Hibachi grilled or ironed. Seriously, the ironed burger is actually really good. Conversely, we do not recommend the peanut butter mixed-in burger. Just don't.
Skip to each of the methods here:

Steaks are different to Ground beef by not being grounded, so a rare steak is safe because bacteria can't get throught the outside of the steak.

    • @@straatzz5388 It's okay to have a medium rare steak but not exactly safe to have a medium rare burger. The reason for that it that the meat usually has bacteria on the outside and when your searing the outside you're killing most of it. When you make a burger you mix most of the outside on the inside so the bacteria gets mixed in too so you should aim for well done for burger and medium rare for steak

  • Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a reverse sear smoked burger. Personal method here, set the burger on the smoker at 225 F until the reach about 80-85 internal, take them off the smoker and set it all the way to 450 F. Once the smoker is nice and hot, put the burgers back on, flip once at about 115 (which will happen super quick so watch carefully). This should give the smoking flavor and a nice sear on the outside. For a better sear and some added flavor, "finish" the burger in a rosemary garlic butter on high heat in a pan.
