  • I'm coming from the future after 12 years. Bashar has become one of the most influential figures in the world. And he was able to overcome a cosmic conspiracy.

  • Assad seems like a fairly level headed guy if you look at all his interviews . Just because Western corporate media says he's a murdering dictator , doesn't mean that it's true . If there was an armed uprising in any country , the government would respond to it the same way .

    @kildaregavin1@kildaregavin19 жыл бұрын
    • Mr. Daly, don't be ridiculous. I am from Syria and I know what he and his father have done to the country. Mr. Assad is a highly intellectual man (he acquired an Medical Doctorate from a British University before becoming president), but don't let this be be proof that "oh he must not be dictator, because he doesn't look like one." His arts of manipulation and deception are so ingeniously nefarious, it would trick people who otherwise had no idea what was going on. I would encourage you to read "An intimate profile of Syria's mass murderer" to get a full picture of Assad's psychology, his intimate (and extremely private) world, his antics throughout his presidency, the tactics his government has used to discredit his opposition.

      @hahaphd6856@hahaphd68569 жыл бұрын
    • Tell me, Mr. Daly: if thousands of people gathered in Washington DC to protest American government policies, what would be the response? Syria's uprising WAS NOT ARMED. It became armed when Syrians lost hope that their president, this lisping bumbling buffoon ("el Zarafe" - the Giraffe) could grant them the rights and an end to an absolutely abominable state of emergency, fear and absolute control. Imagine how angry we were when we found that the NSA was spying on us; or the scandal when detainees were tortured. In Syria, this stuff is commonplace and it's 100 times worse- the Mukhabarat (secret police) will take you in the middle of the night for merely talking about politics and the use of torture is... well I'm at a loss for words to describe the Syrian government's use of torture on ordinary Syrians.

    • Tutonomy Hani I don't claim to know what's what . I started by saying he "SEEMS LIKE A FAIRLY LEVEL HEADED GUY" . Thanks for your input , but I've also met people from Syria who say otherwise . I was just trying to make the point that just because something is on T.V. , doesn't necessarily mean that it's true . Not too many years ago , he was portrayed as a good guy by the same networks who now call him a tyrant . Saddam Hussein suffered the same fate . If something is repeatedly said on the T.V. , most people take it to be true . Every story has two (or more) sides . I don't think he's an angel , after all he is a politician . I wish you peace and I really hope all the trouble in your part of the world ends very soon with everybody having a fair say in how their lives are run . Wishful thinking ........

      @kildaregavin1@kildaregavin19 жыл бұрын
    • Tutonomy Hani Chill out man . Your anger would be better directed towards someone else . You said in bold capital letters that Syria's protest was not armed . In the very next sentence you said it became armed when the protesters lost hope about what they were protesting . Sorry if I upset you . It wasn't my intention to upset anyone . You're obviously angry at something , but don't direct it towards me . It won't do you any good . Like I said earlier , I don't claim to know what the deal is over there , but I doubt we're getting the full unbiased story on regular T.V. . I suppose you would be better at running a country that has obvious divides . Do you think I should believe anything you say just because you say it ? Again , sorry for offending you . I hope the Mukhabarat don't find out you've been discussing this ..........

      @kildaregavin1@kildaregavin19 жыл бұрын
    • Gavin Daly I apologize for sounding a bit heated. I just don't like it when people have the wrong idea about this tyrant. Gavin, I used to be one of the people who thought Bashar was different. I liked Bashar! My maternal uncle, who served on parliament, gave me a key chain in 2007 with his face. Back then, after the so-called "election", pictures of his face was on every corner of the country. The thing is we were all fooled. Fooled into thinking that this man, with an intellectual appearance and his pretty wife would usher in a different Syria than the tyrannical regime of Haffez al-Assad. Those hopes were very high when he came into power (read about the Damascus Spring). But when the events in 2011 happened, we were all bitterly disappointed. And now, with the humanitarian catastrophe that has followed, I hate this man's guts and see no good future for Syria in the absence of his departure.

Both russia and the West want him there. His country now lies in shambles, most syrians earn less than a dollar a day, and many of them are refugees abroad. the country is in ruins. The country was the poorest in Europe, because of his xenophobic economic policies. But still people loved him. They cried as like their relative was dead. But nobody does today.

They are strongly controlled by the fear they have for their government. In other words there is no freedom because they are too scared. The Iranian revolution brought in an Islamic ruling dictator, but that was by vote not power. Some countries choose to practically give every vote to a single family, and that is the opinion of the people. And again, his son was voted in, which is odd because Middle Age-era monarchies were direct "divine" rule, not democratic in any sense.
