  • basically, don't put the cart before the horse if you try to work on turning faster without addressing the stuff brody is talking about, and you wonder why your turning isn't like max park or other "kids" who "turn fast", that's basically why

  • Tips for improving: -do some untimed solves to give yourself time to think of the best insertion possible, preferably without rotating for inspection. -give yourself time to plan the whole cross on the bottom (should be able to do it with your eyes closed), that way you can focus on F2L while it's getting done. -also should be able to (eventually) do ALL your algs with your eyes closed, that way you can quickly recognize the next pair, or OLL, or PLL. -during F2L if the side of an edge matches either color on the side, then it can be easily inserted without a cube rotation, so target those. -be able to execute most of your F2L algs from behind to be able to insert into the backslots. -try to get good at M slices, as well as U and D moves by pushing the back with the opposite hand, being able to do those reduces regrips in lots of algs. -also practice drilling algs with your left hand to improve its dexterity, or else it will slow your solves since it's needed in lots of algs. -never turn the cube in last layer, U moves are always faster.

  • Dear Brody, I started cubing in November(2016) and improved ever since from 1 min 30 secs to 15 seconds. My best was 12 secs. I tried joining a competition. It was a Saturday and my father agreed because it was my passion. My mother was the opposite and she scolded me for joining it because that day was Saturday which means extra class in school. I went to the location, turns out I didn't do it properly. I only signed up my name and that's it. No ID, nothing. Ever since that day I stopped. Started studying and had good grades. I'm trying to re-join the cubing community as it is my only talent and I'd like to improve it. Yet again, the passion inside of me is gone. Whenever I tried to solve something it gets slower and I get more impatient because I wasn't as fast as I was before. My question is, how do I start all over again? Sincerely, _Chomp_
