  • The control of the water is fascinating and important--one inch off, one hole and you would have water damage that only grows until addressed. The copper and slate are beautiful materials to work with, even the wood nailers are wonderful to look at. I really envy the craftsmen getting to work with all those materials.

I love hearing how you envision your grandchildren and beyond will also be enjoying it as caretakers, too, for many years to come.

    • That’s exactly what came to mind when I heard that. Without knowing the details…. I believe that there must be funding formulas whereby the State throws in “seed money” allowing for private funding/loans to pick up the rest. He spoke of “tour revenues” which raked in funds by charging a 7 Euro admission fee. This covered the cost of purchasing 1 slate per admission. He mentioned 160,000 visits more or less. The Guyot family is “all in” with these restorations which started with his dad. The kids were initiated very young…. hands on. Suave and sophisticated “high diving acts” 😉🇨🇦

  • much os the castle area in Budapest that was bombed is being rebuy from original plans- exteriors are done as the originals, but modern construction underneath - it was thrill to see the masonry work` i think there are 12 buildings to be done - 4 completed. the main castle was made usable during the communist era, but it too will be put back like it was. Many of the elaborate interiors are not to be restored.

    • @@davidg-bp4zk That's what happens when you don't nothing about a subject or a person. Those people are not millionnaires, they are just living their passion and work hard for it. Their parents began from very little at a time big derelicted châteaux were a bargain. Their children had no holiday and were helping their parents from childhood so they know what this very specific business is about. I made a lot of search about this family before arguing anyrhing, because I don't want to be disrespectful about someone I don't live with. So again, respect, education, strong will and hardwork.
