These are acronyms and abbreviations that you use every day, but you do what they mean? Teens are quizzed on their knowledge of popular acronyms like ATM, AOL, HBO, SUV, EPCOT, UFO, IQ, FAQ, AM/PM, and RSVP. People may have known what these meant in the 90s, but they may be less popular in 2019.

10 Acronyms Teens Today Don’t Know (AOL, FAQ, SUV)
There was a missed opportunity to remind them what FBE stands for....
Karine Laramée Fine Brothers Entertainment
Federal Bureau of Enema
LOL.... by their logic, the responses should be: "Oh, that KZhead channel with lots of react and discussion videos." or "Ah! I should know this, I'm on this channel! I just can't remember/bother to know!" or "It's just letters right? We don't need to know what the full term stands for."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that should be there
Federal Bureau of Entertainment
"I thought they were random letters like abc, cbs, NBC ". Um, those are all acronyms too
e gutierrez I think ABC stands for Athletic Butt Crack
CBS - Catholic B**** Slap
NBC - Nah Bro can’t
Yeah that comment physically hurt
e gutierrez GIR pfp, nice
Its not their ignorance, its them defending their ignorance that disturbs me.
Theodora Roosevelt I mean they just don’t use them. I know all of them, but my sister doesn’t because she doesn’t pay attention to those things. It’s not about being stupid, it’s just tedious to know. It’s one of those things people don’t care to know and I don’t blame them. I actually didn’t know what am stood for
Malia Blossom i didnt say they are stupid . There were a select few of these kids that kept saying how pointless it is and defending choosing not to learn is what bothered me. Knowing origins to things are important and being dismissive personally is bothersome to me.
@@LadyPapaMayodora It's not actually important though. I say this having known all of these except Epcot. So long as one understands what is meant with the usage of the acronym what it stands for is not really important.

It’s just a SUV, you don’t need to call it a sports utility vehicle” That is the dumbest thing I’ve heard on this show and KZhead this decade
right? its like "well no shit, thats the point"
I think thats the purpose of short forms..
If that was the dumbest thing you've seen on KZhead, you ain't seen nothing yet.
abidamn I said this decade “2020s” I’ve seen stupider since KZhead started
I came here looking for someone who already caught that, didn't take long, and then the po child said she had a high IQ Bless her heart 🤦♀️
“HBO is just letters like TBS and ABC” Or Turner Broadcasting System and American Broadcasting Company.

@@fuzzyotterpaws4395 NBC is National Broadcasting Company and CBS is Columbia Broadcasting System. TNT is Turner Network Television. The CW is the only major network I can think of that has a name that's just letters (it's the C from CBS and the W from Warner Brothers).

he never said TBS
@@neimadparis9868 Short for Fox Broadcasting Company. In the early days, they would use FBC for things such as ratings sheets but not for on-air branding.

I love how all of them acted like the names were made after the abbreviation....kept saying “there’s no point in it being that long”, DUH that’s why there’s an abbreviation
I started crying when she talked about Redbox in reference to HBO 😭😭 kids really out here not knowing what a box office is
I think people say ticket booth more
“HBO, it’s just the channel name like cbs and nbc” Who is gonna tell him those are also acronyms?
I didn't even know these even stood for anything. I thought they were just letters.
NBC stands National Broadcasting Company.
And CBS stands for Columbian Broadcasting System , I think so.
American Broadcasting Company
Humongous Black Octopus
I don't blame them for not knowing a lot of these but I can't ignore the fact that they kept saying "oh, who uses these long words/sentences?", like bruh, that's why it's called acronyms. It has it origins and reasons. SMH. 🤣
Shit Milhouse Horner?
@Nard Mullins. Yeah, but if you use an acronym, you should know what it stands for
Andrew lol no really like are you being for real because I can guarantee most people are not going to get the am pm one but that’s totally fine

What's wrong with that? I mean not everybody knows words spelled like these
Why should people know words for stuff that doesn’t exist anymore or used anymore. I’m sure there are plenty of words that are past my time that I don’t know. And that’s ok.

I don't think the teens understand that no one expects you to say anything except for the acronym, but knowing what they mean has value. They keep complaining that these are too long to say - yes, we know. Why do you think we used the acronym and you know it now?
I wouldn’t say full blown value lol this isn’t money but everyone should find out what certain acronyms are for sure. Everyone of all ages are use to just using the acronyms
I hope you explained to them that "Ante Meridiem/Post Meridiem" is Latin.

The things I've learned from this video about teens: - Some don't know what a 'Teller' is. - Some don't know what's the meaning of TV Channel names (ie.: CBS, ABC,) - Some don't know what a "box office" is. - Some don't know what's the real use of an abbreviation.

It's so sad how they think something's useless just cos they don't use it.
This is a good video, but these are acronyms, not abbreviations. An abbreviation is a shortened vers. Of a word, like “version.” An acronym is a series of letters which each stand for their own word, like “FBE” or Fine Brothers Entertainment.
but yet the video title called them acronyms
donald curry oh, someone must have noticed and changed it. My comment is irrelevant now. Oh well. 🙃
donald curry I just watched the video again and they still call them abbreviations. Only the KZhead title has changed. So in a way, we are both right 😊
I know this is old, and I hate to tell you this, but you're wrong. Only one of them, EPCOT, was actually an acronym. Because what an acronym ACTUALLY is, is an abbreviation that is pronounceable as a word. Like EPCOT, or NORAD, or NASA. Most of the ones in this video are just abbreviations. Don't believe me? Just google acronym and see for yourself.
I laughed at teen on HBO, just letters like ABC and CBS. Kid, those are acronyms, too.
HBO is "just a TV network like ABC or CBS"? You mean the American Broadcasting Company and Columbia Broadcasting System?

The lack of curiosity in these kids is worrying... How do you read a word every day and not even wonder what it means? Especially when the information is readily available on your phone/tablet/computer?

When I was young, I was curious. I ask questions. I live in the Philippines and I know what AOL is. The only thing I didn’t know was EPCOT because I haven’t encountered it. I bet most of them don’t know what IP, USB, ISP stands for. I see the comment section saying they’re idiots. They’re not. They just lost curiosity and just accepted it for what it is.
How could you lose your curiosity if you don't have it in the first place
Juan Pedro Mariano Babies are born curious. That is why they eat everything, grab anything, and we keep them safe from harming themselves. But as they grow old, they either stay curious or not.
Half of these teens have as much personality as a brick
I’m more sad that they’re saying “that doesn’t even make sense” when they’re given the meaning rather than the fact that they don’t know the acronyms

It will take you a mere couple of seconds, but no you have to be the first one out with the story.. And as an added response, no one prof reads anymore.....

What bothers me most is that they kept saying that they didn’t even know these were abbreviated. Like seriously?!?! Why the HELL do you think someone would name something random letters for no reason?? Especially that guy that said he thought HBO was just letters that meant nothing, then proceeded to say ABC and CBS are just letters and mean nothing??

The problem with HBO is they don’t even know what box office means 😂
Most of them said it makes sense after they were shown what the initials stand for. That indicates that the majority of them knew what it was but if they don't it's clearly because they don't use the word box office to describe that thing.
