Watching Wood thinking he’s spoiled everything for himself then seeing the new Pokémon Legends game and being surprised was very entertaining.
Ironically for me Pokémon Legends was the one game that was spoiled for me. Finding out about it though was what got me to actually watch the Direct though so I could see more of it, so it all worked out in the end I guess.
I got spoiled because I was in school when the direct happened. I came onto KZhead and Austin John Plays had already done an analysis on both.
I had a feeling that this year was gonna be sinnoh remakes what with the patents and the announcements from gamestop about 2 games being released simultaneously for $60 each. I didn't expect a chance to go through part of a regions history as a game though and I also didn't expect the whole starter switch-a-roo that they did. So to say I was shocked and extremely excited seeing Legends Arceus is a total understatement.
Like my pet romhack is Pokemon Gaia which has you not focusing on being a trainer but you just happen to become one so you can actually be a professor's aid with ancient history and such so seeing that kind of concept but in a real Pokemon game is absolutely amazing

The entire game is now exactly what everyone has wanted since explorable RPG games became a thing... Became good. Omg.... I'm just going to breathe, relax and give it a bit of hope. That way it won't hurt if it is a disappointment. But still. Explorable Pokemon world. That looks awesome. Whether it will have much content who knows but... I'm hopeful.

Honestly Zelda is a much better gaming series than modern Pokemon, I love both but gaming wise Zelda is superior.
@@yaoiloverstudio yes of course, zelda hasso many different styles of playing depending on what game you get, pokemon he had the same premise for 25 years and its dying out. All they need is innovation. Pokemon Legends is a start but they are definitely going to need more if they wanna keep it going. IMO they have completely run out of ideas for pokemon. Sword and shield felt like cheap side games, I couldn't even make it past the 2nd gym.
@@posoidon7853 Yes Zelda feels so fresh and new every time, even BOTW where they tried something new was a major hit, Pokemon hasn't lost the charm to me but I think the people producing the games lost their passion hence why the franchise lacks innovation and the games feel so bland and uninspired. And same here! I got Pokemon Sword and I didn't even beat it yet, got to the first Gym and that's it....

@@Strashky Eh, I wouldn’t exactly call them goofy necessarily (though some of the jagged grid-based placement of the environment certainly was), but it does kinda feel like a step back from how they handled Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby.

I mean not really, we still have no info. All we know about the new game is that we run around in a field and throw balls all pokemon. You just get something strong and you win, because that's how Pokemon works. There needs to be a lot more to the game for it to be anything
@@twigz3214 I think people are liking Legends because of the potential it could bring. Sure, it could ultimately suck...but it could also be absolutely fantastic. Whereas the Diamond & Pearl comes off as a very by-the-numbers kind of remake. It’s a known quantity based on what we’ve been shown, and thus not exactly all that exciting.

The performance for Legends looks rough but there's so much potential here. I'm glad they're at least taking risks and trying something different. Out sourcing the remake is amazing too. Means they'll have a less rigid release cycle and there's more focus on Legends!

Not to be that guy but SunMoon/USUM did attempt to change things up a little. It’s the only region without a the traditional eight gyms. Personally I really enjoyed it though I am a bit bias as it was my first real Pokémon game

They've really nailed down Legend's artstyle into being a signature already. I love the bright 'realistic cel-shading' it really suits the premise and lends this that feeling of vastness you just could not achieve with Sword and Shields' more basic and even cartoony visuals. The art and visuals director deserves a Bafta award him/herself alone. I just want to dive in the alpha-version and run about before even thinking of where I am and what Pokémon to start catching because I know somewhere my buddy Garchomp is waiting out there for me =)

What I love the most is the title, Pokémon Legends Arceus. Pokémon Legends is, most likely, going to be a series of prequels. We could experience the original Dragon of Unova, the Kalos Pokémon War, I’m so excited.

My same exact concern. Looks like a lot of empty space with nothing in it. Trees don't look great... I'm optimistic since they still have a year to work on it, but I said that about Sword and Shield before its release too. I really hope they don't underdeliver after seeing the amazing premise.

You are assuming it's going to give us everything. So far it looks like a giant leap in the right direction but until we see more it's way too early to think they proved anyone wrong yet. They definitely took a chance, but they have yet to make a game that performs well on the Switch system in terms of not having pop-ins, graphical drops, etc. and this is far more ambitious. I hope they have the actual developers on the team that are capable of making a game like this work. They have yet to show it, so hopefully GF hired some better people.

We all just assumed we would continue to get sword and shield graphics until the death of the franchise. Gamefreak has a long history of cutting corners. I'm liking the concepts of Legend a lot, though both games look very rough around the edges. Its unfortunate that the DP remakes have some really unsettling character designs in the overworld while Legends is extremely unpolished, both in graphical fidelity and the unstable framerate. But with how early in development Legends is I have hope that'll change. Praying that these games turn out to be as innovative as this trailer makes them out to be.
Honestly, I'm just glad that they're FINALLY doing some fresh things with a pokemon game. Arceus could be the red and blue of the Pokemon Legends franchise and I'm super excited to see it and future titles. I just hope they don't get lazy with it all.
Early in development? It releases early in 2022. They have a TON of work today to push the framerates and those graphics in about a year. If that was alpha footage a year out from launch that's a really bad sign honestly. I'd love a BOTW style Pokémon but delay it if needed to get it right.
@@docc19 These sorts of trailers are usually months behind where they're actually at. And in terms of pokemon games development tends to only take about 2-3 years.
