Mini donkey sees other donkeys for the first time in 10 years.

Longhopes does it again! We recieved a phone call about this amazing mini donkey that had lived his whole life with a goat. His goat friend passed away and the owner was unable to keep him anymore. They did the right thing by calling us. We met the mini donkey for the first time and he was terrified. We took it slow and allowed him to trust us before we haltered him. At his arrival at Longhopes he met others of his own species after not being with a donkey for over 10 years. Watch the heartwarming moment when this mini donkey says hi to Longhopes donkeys. He is now in our rehabilitation program and we have a long way to go. Thanks to your donations we will be getting him castrated, a full dental float, vaccinations and deworming, farrier care, and a lot of training. Watch the video to find out what we named him!!!!

  • This is what responsible caregivers do. They ask for help when they know that they are no longer able to provide the animal with optimal care. Thank you to the owner for reaching out, and thank you to Longhopes for answering the call.

We are talking about a donkey here so your comment (regardless of truth) is just potty and annoying. Live by example and people will come to you asking about why/how you live - THEN you can tell them about Jesus from a relevant and strong position. Alternately (for example) you could mention the donkey and its connection to the bible and how you think that is cool etc. Making unrelated spam comments just puts people off and makes you appear sanctimonious at best. I am no saint myself and can't find the path for the weeds often, but my point is no less valid I don't think - end of rant. ⛪

The person who kept him in his goat friend kept them very well, and obviously loved them. He’s a fine example of caring and responsible ownership. There are far more horrific ways to die: Try being doused in gasoline & lit on fire in a cage by an ISIS terrorist; or being slowly tortured to death in a work camp or prison, like MILLIONS of people have and still do every day; or even getting cancer and slowly dying an arduous and painful death from that and chemo. I am sorry for your loss, but it sounds like your grandfather was one of the lucky ones. Count your blessings, because this world is an extremely sick and cruel place. Nothing is guaranteed in this world but pain and suffering. Happens I love horses, happens I own horses, happens I draw horses, happens I collect horse models & by the way I read True Grit & watched the movie, now you have some facts about myself since everything else you derived is some kind of admission an asylum warranted lunacy. Happens also I have a friend, who has loved horses since she could walk, who pasture introduced a paint gelding to her large pony gelding in a large paddock, both an excellent temperament with people, nobody crowded, & the resulting ruckus for dominance the pony was kicked in the jaw & she had to have it put down & was broken hearted, mind you for years blamed herself. She'd had that pony for twenty years & nothing like that had ever occurred other countless times. It was tragic a loss all counts around. You must like your opinions very much in admire yourself greatly a self promoted expert on delusional perceptions thinking you have keen insights into the unknown & can predict the future in any event. Plus spew a bunch of deranged & absurd conclusions from a few sentences a person you no nothing about wrote. Maybe you should write articles for National Enquirer they like inventions for bogus entertainment. Furthermore no one is demoralizing horses & denying most excellent traits we all love when discussing how (many) horses react to a new horse intro, that doesn't enter in topic your descriptions. Simply a matter in some cases it can be rough going until integrated into the herd hierarchy. The unfamiliar can generate a lot of excitement, as compared to a close relative, I won't say the trigger word to prevent another irrational rant. Don't bother to deny that & show yourself further an ignoramus, close enough in relation to produce offspring. It's not a competition between the two & I don't have to choose between them either & incidentally no one put you in charge of anything telling others how to think or reply, you obviously have illusions of grandeur without basis by your childish converse. This little guy looked good, he was confident and curious and the others so curious, donkeys will most often buddy up with someone, they'll be side by side literally each day every day, and get upset if they can't find their buddy. So before long he'll find a close friend. They're a very peaceful animal, getting along with each other. Great story, great video here!

    • yes, it is. for me,, it took 2 yrs to decide,,, 2 bad winters,, 2 bad falls on the ice, and other problems where i gave my 6 chickens to a farm that could take care of them better. (ya miss them for a year),,,,,Hopefully you have another a nimals at home. if you don't hopefully you can handle some gardening or even house plants. Im alone now with ducks and turkeys. I'll always have ducks no matter what. the turkeys are to protect the ducks, but we don't have a barn so the ducks can take the cold,,, and one turkey gets broncitis every winter,, the turkeys have a shelter but this one just has gotten a very bad cold every year.....
