As someone who is a true crime junkie I don't get shocked to know people like this in the world exist. What surprises me is that most normal people are denial about such violence existing. It now makes sense why violence in countries or homes are so easily swept under the rug.
Most of the people look at the world through a " pink lens ". They refuse to see the reality. The possibility your neighboor, your family or your best friend or a coworker could be doing such things to others does not enter their mind until it is too late and the cops are asking about a victim. It is easy to look the other way in order to live in your " the world is a safe place " bubble. And most of us are lucky to traverse it without seeing the horrors happening on the daily basis. It is pure stupid luck.
And what's worse is that the Pinochet coup was done with the help of the United States. And so many still think USA is "the good guys"

This movie was from 2015 so she isnt 30 yet but still i get your point. She still looks the same after a decade but tht just what happens when you take care of yourself. I mean its more apparent with actors ofcourse since their appearance is literally part their job.
Yes, she’s very lucky like that. Of course a consistent good diet and healthy lifestyle has helped a lot - but can’t deny good genetics. Despite her young looks, she is very mature and educated though. She’s really one of my favourite actresses!

I know it's always a hot topic on whether or not first world countries should help stop corruption and oppression occurring in foreign countries or if that just creates more issues, but it's this type of situation that makes me wonder why no one helped. Think of how many people were raped and abused here even though everyone in the world knew what was going on in that camp. Honestly super depressing to contemplate.

The character romance was fictionalized but the horrible person was real and was imprisoned in 2004 and died in 2010. He was said to be jailed on the counts of abuse to children and many more horrible things.

For anyone wondering: "Based on true story" means pretty much that, while the cult, all the people aside the main characters, the antagonist, the crimes on and on are real. The main characters are fictional, which makes the whole film and story fictional. I think the end pretty much shows it very well.
I wouldn't have been born of Pinochet's rule didn't start faltering at the end because my dad left Chile to come to Brazil for a better life and met my mother there. Everytime I asked my grandmother about how life was under Pinochet, she refuses to go into detail. Chilean people's wounds are still open, I fear

I got about a minute into this video, and my interest was immediately piqued so I stopped it, and watched the film. Just finished it. Very good. And educational, as I had little to no idea just how bad things were in Chile.
now there is a mini docuserie in netflix about this cult made by a journalist, with the kids now adults telling their story.

I recommend Wendigoon, a hella fun KZheadr that goes into history, theories, and horror stuff, and he did a video about it. I think the picture for the video had a bearded man in black and white with a yellow title beside his face, or something to that degree, so that should help narrow it down. I won’t say witch country but I am from South America and my grandpa met a lot of refugees from Chile and most are still friends with him, many tragic events happened in this time and I remember lessening to a singer called Victor Jara that got executed after being tortured for a couple of months, he was a great musician and made great music and to this day some of his songs are still popular and even traditional in many towns in South America
When I was 16 I went there twice, it's a beautiful place filled with green areas but that gives you an strange feeling all the time; we visited his house, he had a big piano, and big windows, but his room was closed to the public; we also visited the cemetery, it was quiet, and very far away, and on our way there we saw the place were they kept the dogs, and the entries to the tunnels that were on the floor, and the land they had to cultivate their food, it was really vast, they must have suffered so much when they recollected the food...
I like Harry Potter. Thus, any movie that has Daniel Radcliffe/Emma Watson or Rupert Grint, is officially a Harry Potter movie for me. *including this*

Yah… my aunt lived there as a young girl. I have photos and recordings. There were no legal or otherwise, consequences to the crimes committed on the girls and boys, and young women. Probably never will be.
To think of all the things they don't teach you in history class. This is such a tragic story with an even more tragic and depressing ending. I hope the souls who were tortured, abused, harmed, and murdered have somehow found peace.

The Swedish author Pascal Engman has written a very good thriller called Tierra Del Fuego/Land of Fire that in large parts revolve around Colonia Dignidad. It's the first part of a series of three books about a Swedish police sergeant named Vanessa Frank. I highly recommend to read them! A bit of a coincidence that Pius, in this movie, is portrayed by the Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist. He sadly died less than two years after this movie was released. R.I.P!

Kind of tilted reading more about this and I found out the initial military revolt/scenes were fueled by none other than the USA :( I think it was part of operation condor which was a CIA's operation aimed at exterminating communism in South America. I do know that the operation caused mass disappearances (los disaparesidos) throughout South America. However I'm fairly certain people did not even really know about or care about communism back then at least in Argentina. Anyway operation condor ended up being labeled as a means to kill dissidents, not communists, and the CIA proceeded to kill totally innocent people for their opinions, it was most common for them to be university students, they would fly over the rio de la plata and throw the students in with their bellies cut so they would sink. Dear USA politicians, fuck you for what your doing, what you did, and what you are planning to do.
In Chile communism was big, it still is, before 1948 were they became illegal, they were among the biggest political parties at the time, and even after they still were, they just changed their name but people knew it was them
They did that kind of thing all over the world where they had vested interests, then left the country way worse off than they found it after they couldn't (often literally) bleed anymore out of it and its people. And, yes, all under the guise of 'freedom' and 'democracy'.

lol idky ppl put an unreasonable amt of blame on the USA. First you complain we're the worlds police, then complain we dont police enough. You complain we install fascism then complain we dont install communism. You put none of the blame on these countries own govt leaders for killing their own w impunity... yes, American politics seeks self-interest more than the interest of other govts that may or may not threaten democracy in the future, but in the end the failure falls on ur govt fior failing to deliver on its promise toprotect your people. Capitalism is actually the very reason the world is UPLIFTING from poverty. You wouldnt be online without it.

This movie is of the time period made after the USA funded millitary coup of Chile that overthrown president El salvador... there is a very good speech of president el salvador hours before his death broadcasted through radio... its so terrible that because of power play games of certain rich superpowers poor countries had to suffer so bad😔

India's stance has always been clear since 1947... develop though self... get rid of foreign interference... US was the one which supported rise of military power in pakistan and supported the dictatorial regime of china... so um.. I dont think India will ever start an apocalypse against the world... in India we consider world as a large family... and one does not create appocalypse against family...
