WOWZERS! This Chilli Eating Contest had it all... Sweat, pain, tears - which is bound to happen if you rub your eye after handling some of the World's Hottest Peppers. And a finale that'll surely have you on the edge of your seat!
10 brave contestants battle it out to see how far they can get as they chomp their way through multiple rounds eating various chili pepper pods ranging from the mild to super-hot.
This contest took place at The Middlesex Chilli Festival, Feltham, UK on Sunday 21st May 2023 and was hosted by Matt Tangent & Shahina 'UK Chilli Queen' Waseem.

As someone who has gone up to reaper, respect for all who made it to scotch bonnet, i consider that the top end of useful heat, the rest are truly impressive, i would never eat any one of them again willingly! Respect

I would just like to express my deepest sympathy for the bottoms of all who took part.
I ate a scotch bonnet once in some Thai food and I will never forget it! It was on the top of the dish like a crown.. 😮 After being warned by my friend NOT to Eat "that cute little pepper" I did it anyway and for me it took a lot of milk to cut it down. The next day was even worse. Never again!
I have way too many receptors on my tongue for anything hot. I live vicariously through these contests 😂
Receptors to taste „spicy“ don’t exist. When food is spicy, it’s the substances inside that actually cause a burning sensation.
