We also went around downtown and in the mayors office, basically our own personal parade chaperoned by the percussion instructor and someone’s dad. We had the Foot ball HoF parade, our rival parade, several band competitions even one hosted in the horseshoe! My highschool actually got mistaken for a college because of how large the campus was. The stadiums max capacity is 16,000 but it’s easily 20 during rival week and we have an in door complex too! Which actually made me mad because we were lucky to have practice in it during the summer and for the most part practiced on a 100 yard asphalt parking lot…still good times

    • @@sethbuhler4264 everyone here is gonna tell me I'm wrong but thats fine, y'all don't have to be right. In reality it isn't necessary. While it may be true it's best to learn to march dci or college it isn't necessary from a technical standpoint. In reality traditional grip was adapted to flat snares for the look. In competition a judge will never judge on whether or not you're using traditional. In conclusion to this exhausting paragraph, traditional is not necessary, in any case I would always advise a high school percussion director against implementing traditional if there isn't any prior experience within the line with it. it is always better to be clean than look cool. sorry for the paragraph lmao

But gawd dayum when we would start off with our march out cadence the school would go nuts during pep rallys and even games. Thankful to have been apart of a great band/drumline those almost 20 years ago. Our band would dance to a few of our cadences and everyone loved it! • Good luck and Godspeed. If your school does full line for auditions, listen and match those around you, that’s what they’re looking for, if you have the ears. Also use hearing protection

  • I was in marching band last year and moved schools so now we can’t be in marching band until 9th grade. ANYWAYS. At my old school I think the only reasons others were nice to us and supported us was because one popular girl was in it. I’m not sure why kids make fun of others who are in marching band, because we literally make music to support the football and other stuff. My sister called me lazy for quitting softball and joining marching band. I had to explain to her we do A LOT more moving in marching band than softball. I can’t wait to rejoin next year as I’m only in 8th grade at the moment. 😅

    • @@NicDunn I hope I have fun! The new marching band is MUCH bigger than my old schools. We actually go to championships/competitions. We have to tryout to join the marching band if we are in 8th grade I’m planning on trying out. Tomorrow night we get to march with the marching band for a football game!

  • The Fact that your school puts in so much effort just for state lmao. My school constantly has teams going to state like our surf team (beach city) which has won state like every year except for like two since like the 1970s and almost all of our other sports go to state a lot as well. But still the only thing my school puts effort into and talks about is football. Like literally every other sport could straight up win nationals the same year and my school would be like "and a special congratulations to all of our football players who lost by 50 points in last weeks game. "

    • My high school is almost in a similar position, but we really don't have any notable teams (that I've heard of) but our band placed 3rd in nationals and still people only care about football
