He looks like an Alaskan Klee Kai, Aussie mix. So handsome, and the perfect size for someone who wants a bigger dog but unsure if they could handle it.
I lost my 30 year old son, then my 14 year old dog 6 months later. Both of my best friends... 1 1/2 years later, just got me another dog. He's my best friend! Bringing me out of the dark I was in..... 1.5 years old, Australian / German Shepherd mix. I love him!! We bonded tight!! Named him Boomer, to reflect my age...

I lost my fur baby boy on September 1st, 2023, and I am still grieving him so badly! His name is Charcoal, and I had him for 15 years. He was faithful and loyal, his entire life. He was a one owner dog, and it even took a while for him to tolerate my wife. Eventually he did, but nothing like his bond with me. I miss him so bad! Not ready for another fur baby yet. Thank you, Rocky, for your love and kindness toward all of these babies.

So true on owner turn-in. Folks shouldn’t judge as owners could be facing very difficult circumstances . Both my parents died suddenly. My husband and I had very large hunting dogs, and my parents’ very small dogs would have been perceived as encroaching on their turf, and in all probability killed. We lived out of state, so our only option was the no-kill shelter in the area where my parents’ lived. It was hard to do, but it was the only thing we could do under the horrendous circumstances in which we found ourselves. It was a better situation than what we could have offered. We even reached out to other friends and family. No one wanted the small dogs. So please, understand that life’s circumstances can take many twists and turns. Some owners who must turn dogs in do so with broken hearts.
Great point, and sorry for your tuff situation, but like you said life sometimes takes unexpected turns and we have to do the best we can.
Better a turn-in than a roadside drop. Sometimes, folks get to zero on money and can't feed the beast. Love that he was a turn-in and not killed in the desert or abandoned on the street. Such a gorgeous dog.
I sat for someone's dog for a few hours, and he just sat leaning against the door shaking uncontrollably for 30 minutes while I tried everything to calm him down from 6 feet away. Nothing worked. He growled whenever I got closer than 6 feet. So finally I did as a wise friend had once suggested. I cooked up a few pieces of bacon and the dog was slobbering before the bacon finished cooking. By the time it cooled and I slowly approached him he was ready for anything I wanted to do, just to get that bacon. I did pretty much what Rocky does, and before 2 pieces of bacon were gone I had a friend for life. After that the owners told me they were amazed that whenever they took him out for a walk he would try to drag them over to my apartment door. :)

I can see how someone would say he looks like a shepherd. When I first saw him, I thought husky/cattle dog. He’s a very sweet dog. He’s going to be a great companion for the right person.

I’m thinking primarily Aussie with some definite Husky/Malamute and perhaps some Akita. I can’t imagine giving up such an awesome pupper; he’s surprisingly self-contained and confident considering how young/where he’s stuck being for the time being. If I were to name him I’d possibly lean towards Balto or maybe Buster.
I was wondering about cattle dog too with the spots on his legs🤔
I've had two shepherd/cattle dog mixes and this one looks for sure like a husky/heeler. The spots on the legs; the two I had seemed to wear a blanket and mask of the other dog's color, and the cattle dog legs and feet. The wide head and pointy muzzle. Heelers mixed with other dogs give them a very interesting foxy look to the face, like a Shiba except the ears are different. German shepherds or Shepsky's tend to have a longer nose like a collie, and even longer ears.
"Aussie" isn't a dog breed. Australian breeds are, Australian Shepherd ( which he's not), Kelpie, Blue Heeler, Red Heeler

Somehow whenever I watch Rocky interact with these pups I always end up smiling. What a precious being he is 🥰
He desperately wants to be friends - even from the start it's clear. But whatever he's been through is why he was growling and saying "leave me alone". Treats are definitely a big help! He's definitely a clever boy! Finding that treat and pinching it was hilarious! He is such an adorable boy and I hope he's going to get a forever family real soon. Much love to him and everyone looking after him 💕

The noise of the shelter can be enough to scare but then add strangers all over the place. Plus being examined to make sure he is healthy. It's all a tense experience.
There's so much negativity in social media and KZhead, with the bajillion true crime channels, and dozens of interrogation channels and live trials being streamed every day, it's great to see a channel where good people come together to help with things like helping pay for animals well being, and paying so OTHER people can adopt them to good homes. It's just great to see all these good people going great things.
Nigel's a pretty puppy. I think he'll be adopted quickly.
That’s what I thought
Nigel appears to be an Inu-Husky. A designer dog from cross breeding between a Shiba Inu & Husky. If one googles it, you can see pictures. Sometimes these designer dog people also add shepherd into Inu Husky mix as well. All 3 of these breeds seem possible in Nigel.
I instantly thought the same, especially with how round his head is! And the distribution of his coloring! Definitely reminds me of a Shiba!
I agree I have two of those and his face and ears and sesame colors suggest it.
We have a dog (Lucy) who looks like a sled-dog, shiba, german shepherd mix. She's a sweet heart and incredibly smart.

What a lovely BOI Nigel is! We had neighbors some years back. A couple with issues. The husband used to abuse the dog, to upset his wife . . . and he abused her too. Like you say Rocky, you never know. The wife surrendered her dog out of love, as was the only way she could see to protect him. I understand that choice totally. My hub & I covered his adoption fee. Cliff a GS sweetheart was adopted within 3 days. The new owners keep in-touch with his former Mom.

I rescued a dog that was about to be euthanased and after a few years my circumstances changed that meant I was working long hours. My pup really needed a lot of exercise and also became very sad if left for long periods. I went to the local dogs home and asked for advice. It broke my heart but I was advised to let him go to a family home that would be able to give him what he needed. Cried for a week and will never get his look of sadness out of my memory. I made a call after a week and found out he had a family forever home and was settling in well. That was 25 years ago and I still think about him.
What a pretty little dog! He seems cautious, but open to trusting. He got close to you pretty quickly. I think he’ll make someone a happy, loving pet!😊

It is very hard for most people to bring their dog to the shelter. It is sad, and it is embarrassing. We should not judge that, it is far better to bring your dog to a shelter than to abandon them on the street or put them on Craigslist. That said, he is so beautiful with some much personality. I am sure he will have a great home soon.
Good point I never thought of it that way. Perhaps I need to be a bit less judgmental in future.

Ive come back to watch your channel to watch. We have in London Battersea Dogs Home full of beautiful fur babies that all need a lovin home. Keep spreading the love and your message to people there are humans out there that have a massive heart that are willing to give these babies a loving home. That is one gorgeous dog and it's too bad I still can't financially afford a dog again. Hopefully one day I will be able to financially support a dog again. It's been 11 to 12 long years and it's been hard not being able to have another dog. I so appreciate what you do!❤

I had to turn a dog in once. He was a Shitzu and he had horrible ear infections. He hated being groomed so he had a lot of matting. His stomach was a mess no matter what we fed him. So he was always poopy furred and I was bathing him weekly, but it didn’t help the matting. He got to be where we couldn’t care for him. I didn’t have the money for grooming or training and didn’t know how Shitzus were before we got him. We got him from a family that bought him and then didn’t want him. We tried our best, but couldn’t manage him. It broke our hearts. Our neighbor offered to take him for us. We paid for the fees to turn him in. We didn’t have any other option.
It is for sure sad that dogs get turned in by their owners, but it's 100 percent better than dumping them somewhere, or keeping them and neglecting them. Hope that sweet boy gets adopted soon. I'm scouting for a rescue in my area. :-)

I took on a 6 year old badly treated Jack Russel who would growl wildly in unpredictable scenarios and if you didn't back away he would bite you. Three months of treating this dog well and walking him regularly and he is so nice and loving, I can leave him outside the shop tied to a post and twice I have come out to strangers stroking him and he is so happy of the engagement . It just takes some patience to help these abandoned or abused dogs, they just want love and you will get their trust.

I love him. I would name him Scout. I had a malamute/Sheppard, he looked like a gold wolf. So intelligent, so loving, he was trained to be a therapy dog, was in all the parades, and mascot to a program for ID adults, loved by all. Had a long beautiful life. Now we have a yellow lab and cockapoo, also being trained. The key to success is to give them nutrition and grooming first, then a training program. Lots of love, attention and excercise. Any dog will flourish.

He reminds me of my sweet girl Lucy who I lost a few weeks ago to cancer. He looks a lot like she did. She was a Malmute, Cattle Dog, Shepherd, Chihuahua, Rottweiler, Lab, and 25% super girl!

Nigel is absolutely beautiful and so sneaky finding that treat. I had to laugh with joy. I just went to a pet fundraiser and won a raffle full of toys that I'm donating back to the shelter for the pups to have a toy for the holidays. I also asked my friends to donate a bag if pet food to the pet food pantry instead of giving me gifts for my birthday/Christmas. You never know what someone's circumstances are when surrendering thier pet. Could have lost thier job/home or illness. People fall on hard times. Especially if you live on a fixed income. That's why i like to donate a bag of food where i can every little bit helps. I can't always donate money but I can donate my time and help spread awareness to the cause. That's why I always share your videos Rocky. I have so many pet loving friends on social media that I even told the special needs sanctuary i volunteer for, to visit friends of the valley next time she is in CA. She has started a non profit program to provide wheelchairs to paralyzed and special needs animals.

My sweet baby angel of 10 years growled when I first entered her cage. Then... in the meet and greet, she promptly pood right in front of me (I was sitting on the floor) and trotted circles around me. All as if to say, You still want me now?! I DID. Best decision of my life. Lol. 💖💕

Thank you for not being judgmental about people who turn their dogs in. I had recently adopted a dog and had him about four months. Unfortunately, my health has deteriorated unexpectedly, and I can no longer adequately care for the dog. My friend was kind enough to take him with her dogs for the last month. Fortunately he was able to be rehomed to a wonderful gentleman and his family. He’ll make a wonderful family dog. It broke my heart to have to rehome him, but I couldn’t take the chance that I would not be here and no one would take care of him. I have no family left that would rehome him after I was gone or would be able to take him. I had foster dogs for the last 15 years Clifford was my first foster fail. He will be a wonderful dog for the family that adopted him. I’m crying my eyes out right now. Nigel is beautiful. He’ll be a great dog for a family. Hoping that somehow my health will improve to allow me to foster again.

We adopted a 2yr old several years ago, turned back in by his owner, who developed cancer relapse. After abuse in a foster, he found his forever home with us. We lost him a few months ago and miss him dearly. He was an amazing dog.
And man, it is really loud in there! That loudspeaker is supremely loud! I’d be scared as hell too! I don’t know if you noticed, but every time you said treats, he looked up. He knows that word!
