    • There should be an accent linguist (are those a thing? As in, instead of studying Cantonese, Navajo or Zulu, they might study Cockney, Southern Belle, Medieval English... accents, e.g. noting their phonologies for if there was, say, a film set in the American South around the turn of the 20th century, when the old southern accent would be more prevalent, so that the actors could then learn that accent to play the characters accurately) who records this so even when the last natural speaker dies out, people can reintroduce it in the future

I hope you know, obviously don't, that there are numerous variation in diction when speaking in an accent and the language itself. I hope you know that it's colloquial. It's dependent on how you grew up and where you grew up and your surrondings. Smh... So Damn Judgemental.

The point is NOT to be from this region to hear the difference! You live there, you're used to common accent! No one in comments said "I'm from NY, I was in Scotland and they sounds not that way" And please, when you will try to make your assumptions listen not just teens (they were raised in much more multicultural world), but also much older people.

      @jessicakelly6353@jessicakelly63533 жыл бұрын
    • Jessica Kelly I agree. Many American actors are much worse. I think she needs better source material. And she should stay well away from non-English speaking accents. I don't speak Russian but that didn't sound like a Russian accent. It was vaguely Eastern European. I do have some French and German, and her attempts were almost parodies of the real thing. Perhaps if she learnt a foreign language it would help, although that might be a bit of a challenge with impaired sight.

  • People are saying that people don't sound like that where they live and then they also say there are different dialects. If there are different dialects then you don't know if she is speaking like one of those. To me she did really good to not be a native speaker from those countries.

    • Meow Hunter London is a city, and natively has only a few dialects. She's got too much coming through the nose, like an American would speak. But her tips are amazing for every language. But she's a dialect coach, so being given critical feedback might be useful to her career.

    • No, if people are saying there's different dialects, it's because they're aware of those accents. Take her UK and Ireland accents for example, they're very generalised and what an American thinks people from those places sounds like when in fact there are dozens of accents within those places.

  • You're very talented. I'm Irish and you have a good grasp in general. As with all accents it's difficult to be specific until you go to a particular region and get insight from the natives. To my ear the accents I'm not as familiar with sound amazing and of course those closer to home I'd say need more finesse. Each country/state encompasses hundreds of dialects so you're giving a general overview. As a dialect coach, you're obviously well aware of this. My comment is more for those less knowledgeable on the subject who feel the need to troll. I would love to see more videos of you teaching accents.

  • I can type in any accent. "I eat pretzels and Sausage " -(German Accent) "You Americans are sick, all your skinny women disgust me, like Halle Berry"- (French Accent) "Mario! Luigi!" -(Italian Accent) "Forget about it! I'm walk'n here!"- (New York Accent) "Dude, that is totally far out man"- (Southern California Accent)

    • Anđelina This lady appears to have learned the accents from American films. She needs to use better sources. The Irish and Scottish accents are American stage accents. The Yorkshire accent is vaguely English but it's certainly not Yorkshire (which is a very strong, distinctive accent). Neither French nor Germans say 'ze' instead of 'the' and speaking like that would sound like a British World War II film ... it could give offence. You would be better checking out KZhead channels from the areas you are interested in.
