Israel did not exist before, Palestine did. Now the UKs involvement in this is to me insulting. It is afterall, the British or whatever they were called back in the time of the Crusades, decided in all their wisdom to basically start the chaos in the Middle-East, especially in Palestine. So to see the British involved and advising anyone in the Middle-East or on this planet for that fact, I find completely and utterly insulting.
