  • Eduardo...one of the most natural, clinical, effective finishers I have had the pleasure of watching. He had that natural knack for goal like all the greats do, like a Romario. Never the same after the injury that derailed him right as he was on his way to becoming one of the top strikers in the world.

    • Agree 100%. His potential to be a great was right there. That leg break ruined him. You could see when he came back he wasn’t ruthless, he was frightened of another injury. Honestly one of the biggest regrets in Wenger history, along with Diaby. Both of them could have been world beaters.

It's evident Manchester City squad players, bench warmers would be upgrade to the Arsenal team, just like Zinchenko & Jesus, couldn't be guaranteed game time at City but are superstars at Arsenal

    • @@mancuniansplanet6580 let's be honest they are both no gaurenteed places at Arsenal especially now. Zinchenko isn't that good defensively, he is great offensively left back is not his best position. Part of the reason we brought Timber. Jesus is probably a gaurenteed starter but not if he still struggles to score many we may trossard or someone else instead. Jesus is great but not for a gaurenteed 25+ goals every season.

  • What a video, amazing... Firstly, no matter what he did, adebayor was a monster of a player. Secondly, Eduardo injury devastated the team confidence and performance they would have clearly won the league if he wasn't ruthlessly injured. Thirdly, the attack of that team makes one realise that Arteta squad is really missing a clinical striker. However, we certainly have a better defense. Fourthly, watching how the team played makes you want to lift Arsene name ones again for producing some magnificent memorable football.

    • Technically, in comparison to the likes of Fabregas, Van Persie Rosicky, Hleb, etc. Flamini was nowhere near their level, but in terms of his overall contribution throughout the season, he was a stalwart going on memory off of the top of my head. Had to do a shift at full back for a good portion of the season when we had an injury crisis at the back and performed quite impressively if I'm not mistaken. He actually ended up winning our Player of the Season Award would you believe for his performances which tells you all you need to know about how integral he was and is full credit to him when you bare in mind that he was not at all a technically gifted player but was playing in a side that was littered with such players across the pitch and during a season from what I would say was the most pleasing on the eye as an Arsenal supporter in the context of playing attractive attacking football with an emphasis on such technical prowess since I started regularly following the club from the 04/05 season. Hleb, on the other hand, was such an elegant baller. He was top drawer technically. His balance, close control, vision, disguise, feints, and swift drops of the shoulder that he would do when he was dribbling were great to watch. He's on the record publicly as well, saying that the worst thing he ever did was leaving Arsenal and going to Barcelona or something to that effect. He doesn't get talked about enough by fans when talking about this period. Most fans from other clubs probably don't even remember him. Very underrated and underappreciated.

The precision of those intricate & incisive one touch/two touch interchanges, movement off the ball and build up play in the final third at times was utterly breathtaking. That was by far my favourite time being an Arsenal supporter in terms of that electric style of football that we used to play. Just a shame we couldn't get over the line and reward all that exceptional free flowing attacking football with a Prem title at the end of it: ●Going into that Birmingham game which Eduardo broke his leg in we had the opportunity to go 8 points clear as it was an early Saturday K:O on the 27th G/W before everyone else played. ●Including the Birmingham draw we drew 5, lost 2 and won just 1 of our 8 league games in that period which ultimately cost us the title. ●Finished on 83 points (4 points off Man Utd). The 2 we lost were 6 pointers against Man United and Chelsea respectively as well to make it even more painful. Even if we'd just managed to beat United during that horrific run of results it would have hypothetically meant that we would have won the league in hindsight if the 3 points went the other way although obviously I appreciate the entire dynamic of the run in would have been altered by those chain of events. Fine margins. We completely imploded from gameweek 27-34. What could have been 😔.

Can't really say that, Arsenal had the chance to go something like 9 points clear that day and the penalty that led to two points dropped right at the last minute was never a penalty, you saw on slow motion that Clichy nicked the ball away. Arsenal take 3 points that day and heads wouldn't have dropped to the same extent and Man Utd have a bigger mountain to climb, the margins in football are fine. • @@TonguePunchMyFartBox. Wenger was budget for budget a better manager than Ferguson, so not sure where this 3 times the manager business is coming from???? What are you smoking? The only reason Wenger and Arsenal fell off from challenging was because of the Stadium move and the boardroom politics in the background, there was basically a war going on back there and Arsenal were in an awkward position with releasing funds. They naturally couldn't air their dirty laundry out in public, so from the outside it looked like they weren't spending because they were clueless and in decline, but that's not what was really going on. You give Ferguson a little bit too much credit, he always bought his way to titles with really expensive obvious signings. I'm not saying he wasn't a good manager either, just saying Wenger proved how good he was by winning titles on a shoestring budget. Ferguson never ever did that and when you think about it, Arsenal had no business challenging or beating Man Utd to league titles, but Wenger still managed it. So if anything, he was three times the manager Ferguson was, because he had to work MUCH harder to dethrone Man Utd to the titles Arsenal won.

I don’t think Anelka was necessarily was disrespectful to the club per say but when there was a lot of speculation he didn’t do anything to squash the rumours and he had a perceived lack of enthusiasm! Arsene gave Anelka his big break and to then see what Wenger would maybe perceive as ‘lack of loyalty’ (Wenger is very loyal in a lot of ways) could of been hurtful!

    • Going into that Birmingham game which Eduardo broke his leg in we had the opportunity to go 8 points clear as it was an early Saturday K:O on the 27th G/W before everyone else played. The football that season going forward with the likes of Fabregas, Rosicky, Hleb, Walcott, Van Persie, Adebayor was absolutely scintillating. The intricate & incisive interchanges and build up play in the final third was utterly breathtaking. Including the Birmingham draw we drew 5, lost 2 and won just 1 of our 8 league games in that period which ultimately cost us the title. Finished on 83 points (4 points off Man Utd). That was by far my favourite time being an Arsenal supporter in terms of the style of football we used to play. Just a shame we couldn't get over the line and reward all that exceptional free flowing attacking football with a Prem title at the end of it. Fine margins. We completely imploded from gameweek 27-34. What could have been 😔.

They scored more goals, they conceded less goals, they won more games, they won more trophies. They won the champions league without loosing a game in it.
