Drop is back with another gaming headset and their new H3X which they created with EPOS looks like it could be a great option for gamers with a more limited budget. Does Adam think these are worth the money or should you buy a video game instead?

Nowadays the space has gotten competitive enough that they aren’t worth the $250 I paid for them a decade ago. Solid, no frills headset. They just work.

They will also upload their findings to a separate LTT Labs website when that’s set up, so that you can compare similar products or products that you’re comparing. Point of Labs isn’t just for full reviews on LTT but to use for all channels and as a huge repository of data and analytics for hardware and peripherals. Kind of like RTINGS, but they aim to be better and even if they aren’t it just gives us, the consumers, multiple sources of credible data to make the best purchasing decisions.

    • Sennheiser has always had extremely good mic quality for their headsets. I don't know how they do it and why other companies are still struggling to keep up with them, but I'd always recommend a Sennheiser if people want just an all in 1 headset on a budget (363D was my go to and I used to find it for $70-$80 back in 2015 so I'm sure it's cheaper now!).

  • Sennheisers were always my go to for headsets (before I switched to an amp/dac, good headphones, and good condenser mic) and I was always impressed by the mic quality and sound stage of them. Like they're not as good as say spending $400 on a "decent" setup, but for how much they did cost (I used to go ONLY for the 363D, which were about $75 on sale, because the 373D had a worse mic quality but still good soundstage) they were an easy "budget" pick for years. I'm not surprised Drop has made them slightly cheaper and they still keep the same quality considering Sennheiser has been around for so long now that just taking their design and hardware and just cutting some of the cost off of it would keep the same quality sound and microphone.

  • I really really really want them to review the head amame headphones it is a 3d printable housing for speaker drivers that you build yourself. The parts and files are found as a kit on vector finesse's website, every review I have seen says they sound better than nearly any other headphone because it uses speakers that are found in extremely high end headphones but buying the speakers alone costs significantly less, the entire headphones themselves only cost a little over 100 dollars including the speakers, pads, head strap, printer filament. It's really amazing, if you don't have a printer you can buy it from vector finesse as a prebuilt. What vector finesse is doing is really great for right to repair and giving us fair prices.

They have a nice flat response curve, so they're quite true to the sound that was intended, rather than AKG's idea of that sound. The most suggested are the hd560s, they are 150 ohms, if you just plug them in the back of your PC like nothing, you're leaving a lot performance on the table. And not all people will be willing to move from a 80 bucks headset to like, USED Gear + mic + amp

      @thunderarch5951@thunderarch5951 Жыл бұрын
    • @Thunder Arch you're right about that. For the most part I use the studio headphones through an actual amp, pedal or sound card because, like you say, they can't be driven by a phone or computer to anywhere near their full potential. For everyday earphones I use Sony WF-C500. They're cheap, have good battery life, and decent sound. The don't have ANC or any other fancy features, but at the price point they're pretty much perfect for me. Everything else goes through an AV receiver. That controls my TV, console and laptop. I've also got a little Bluetooth adapter to solve the headphone jack crisis that smartphones are facing these days.

  • I'm satisfied with the mic, it sounds really decent, not thrilled about the "farty" sound you're explaining. Because even though i use my headset for 90% gaming, the occasional times i want to listen to music, i really like crisp clear sound. Without hearing it firsthand, headset sound quality reviews are really one of these things that are a "trust me bro" scenario.

  • Those volume knobs are cheap. Those are exact to the sennheisers from drop. They end up falling off. Also they end up having static when you move the volume. Hey, the mic was good tho. 🤷‍♂️

  • Hey guys can you tackle the knob issues that varely anyone knows how to fix? I mean the volume knob just starts to not working properly and you have to fidle with it every time you move it, its a pretty common issue in all brands and i don't feel confortable enoght to open my headset and figure it out.

    @alexucon@alexucon Жыл бұрын
    • My PC38Xs are starting to have this issue. They haven't gotten bad enough for me to do anything about it yet, but you can apparently get into them and bypass the volume control by bridging the connection with solder.
