A Despaire-filled Farewell is such an assault of notes thrown at you. It's almost orgasmic in it's pathos.

Despite epic battles and a memorable beginning and end of a journey in the game ost, when you think about the SOTC soundtrack there is a considerable chance that what will be in your mind is "silence" at 24:41 Overall, if you ask me when you make the most of the game (by it I mean while playing/exploring) this is what comes to your mind. All the "untold" mysteries (it might have none by now but our imagination just runs too wild with its setting): "what lies beyond the forbidden lands?" Is just too good to be over in a single game. Glad that the community takes another whole step while digging into every corner of the map and/or the entire LORE itself. In a way, playing/exploring SOTC feels like you're adventuring towards the ocean or space... there is too much to walk through and too many things to theorize/speculate about ending in a simple "navigation". PS: yes, the same could be said regarding "creeping shadows" at 32:52 since I think its bases end up being the same, it's just that something is standing in the corner just waiting to be revealed and breaking the previous silence.... some kind of intelligible announcement or message.

At 45:11 I can't decide which I like better. This original version of "Prayer" or the newly re-scored version for the PS4 remake. Same thing at 1:04:24 with "The Sunlit Earth" which was also re-scored for the PS4 remake although it's not quite as obvious as the re-score for "Prayer". Probably I'd have to go with the originals since that's what I'm most used to hearing. Either way this soundtrack is most likely what Kow Otani will best be remembered for.
Originals all the way. The remakes are absolutely great, but as a fan of the original, cant help but nitpick on a few little details, and the recording of those songs are some of them.

@@timmadone8930 Wander's face I just don't like in the remake. the re-recorded Prayer and Sunlit Earth, though virtually similar, their differences diminish the emotions of the scenes they respectively play in, that is very subjective, and it'd be hard for me to explain exactly why in a written form. And although the games looks gorgeous with the new graphics, the original aesthetic is lost, as is to be expected. It's been a while since I've played it, surely if I play it again I'd find a couple more things to nitpick about it. I don't hate it, I think its a fantastic remake. but being my favorite game of all time, it couldn't beat the original for me. If you ask me, the remaster for PS3 is still the best version available.
@@DeSardet46 I'll agree that the aesthetic of the original is gone. I miss that other-worldly look. If I was still able to play the PS3 remaster in stereoscopic 3D, I might choose that version as my favorite too. To be honest though, if I could only play one version, I'd have to go with the PS4 remake. It just has so much more going for it. Luckily I don't have to choose. I have all 3 console versions readily available to play at a moments notice.
