  • As a non Scott, as soon as I saw the words Glasgow and Terrorist attack together, I started chuckling uncontrollably and felt guilty about it. After watching how hard Scottish people are laughing at the idea, my respect has gone through the roof because it's this type of emotional maturity that makes these terrorists die for nothing. You guys can laugh at dark things and that's why they lose their power over you. Your dark sense of humour is a sign of strength not weakness (at least in this context). Compared to Americans who take endless glory in victimhood.

    • So true, a dark sense of humour is the antithesis of terrorism. Watching this and reading your comment makes me want to watch the film ‘Four Lions’ again, it really is a darkly comic satire that changed the way I think about terrorism.

    • There's a clip elsewhere from the film Rob Roy and some posts are trying to insult Scots as a joke. All they get back is funnier things from actual Scots. It's really hard to get a rise out of any folks in the isles. It's their way of passing time among friends.

You had banana feet at the time and myself and my daughter can still sing, “If it wasna for your wellies”, to my grandchildren and her gorgeous youngsters. Love you Billy Connolly. We are all British but it has it independent nations. we have British law but also he have laws in our own countrys. Much like USA you have the law but every state has different laws too. William Wallace fought for Scotland's freedom against the English. Braveheart is 90% false but the base line is true.

He is a comic genius. I always wanted to see one of his shows, it was on my bucket list, but with time constraints and other stuff always coming up i never got to see him live. • chrissy gravitt The TV series! I'm Scottish and I just can't get into it! I think it is based on a book or books! The woman goes back to the 18th century, it's about the Jacobite rising! I just don't find it authentically Scottish, perhaps the books are better! It is situated further north of where I live! I have the same accent as Billy Connolly, I was just sharing this with my G+ friends for a laugh!

    • It's a series of 7 books and it is set around the Jacobite rising and the tragedy at Culloden then goes into the New World and the Revolutionary War but it's a beautiful love story in between all that and alot of colorful characters as well. As you can tell by the way I'm going on about it that it's one of the best book series I've had the privilege to read. Okay I'm done gushing and as a side note I have NOT watched the TV series yet I'm sure it's not doing the books justice:)

    • chrissy gravitt It is a good story line but like Mia Pixi says, something about the Sassenach woman annoys me! But I like the plot line and I was initially excited about a TV show that portrayed Scottish history but it just didn't sit with me, I wish I could explain why but I don't really know what it is? I also think there's a lot of unnecessary sex. I promise I'm not a prude and sex is can be very relevant to a story line sometimes but other times it's just put in there, it's like they're contracted to show X amount of tits, lol! But apart from all that....were the books written in Scottish Dialect or just plain English?

I credited him with the strengthened relationship I attained with my own father, thanking him for being a catalyst for us to grow closer as he went thr ugh heartbreak and I went through the rough teen years.
